episode 4 is a wrap but we have a great show ahead if you haven’t gotten enough we have exclusive bonus footage that you won’t see anywhere else and coming up this week’s winner team more value UPS joins the show plus special guest Stephen Wonderboy Thompson and of course coach iron Michael Chandler is with us so get ready because after tough starts right now wow thank you [Music] [Music] foreign Thomas with one of the greatest lightweights to ever do it the two-time former Strike Force Champion the former wec Champion he coached tough 20. he has put on some of the greatest fights we have ever seen but I will forever know him as the guy who beat up Jason Miller on national TV along with the Diaz brothers and that is my man Gilbert El Nino Melendez man what is going on what’s up Dean it’s great to be here uh you know I’m here on this tough after show uh set right here and I’m having all these memories about tough 20 it’s been so long but it’s great to be here so after being a coach on the show now watching it how nostalgic is it for you to go back and watch these now very nostalgic you know you sacrifice six eight weeks of your life you know it’s a selfless experience you know I’m a selfish person and as a fighter you want to train you want to do everything on your own terms but now you have to be selfless and give your precious time when you’re training for a very important fight to all these Fighters out there and uh and it was a great time but I will tell you it was caught me off by surprise because I thought I was going to be teaching or coaching a bunch of males and I was surprised that hey man I had the First cast of all females which was which was a challenge but which was a very tough but really cool to be a part of history and see these ladies succeed today well that’s why it’s called tough dude but no so this is your first time joining the show this is the one thing I love about the show is that we have bonus footage that you won’t see anywhere else and we’re going to start that right now let’s take a look at some bonuses give it to me you’re looking good man very good very good how are you feeling feeling good yeah I ended up breaking my hand the last fight but just working on the grip yeah cool yeah come back come back where the belts on the hands oh just the first and second that are carpal here so nothing too crazy [Music] but you know it comes back they can make it yeah yeah yeah yeah [Laughter] what’s the weight what’s the week what’s the Weight Watchers I’m probably 195.95 I tried to get over 200. so I haven’t really checked I turned 40 last week happy birthday congratulations so the older I get and that weight cuts a little run away should be 25 plus pounds yeah would you go to 185 eventually I don’t know I thought Robert Whittaker he did what he’s done he’s doing very well yeah he still very well so it’s definitely it’s an argument for it definitely an argument for that I mean it’s natural as we get older to go open weight right but in our business it’s like it’s just supposed to come down yeah that’s not the way the human body works a little bit longer yeah yeah well let me let you get let me get you here thank you man I get the impression that like whenever Connor’s around another fighter he has this natural inclination to just kind of size them up I mean he’s like yo what’s your weight at how much you weigh it’s comparing it yeah there you go there let me see the size difference look at the size of my face he’s going to 85 yeah man I’ll tell you what I’m passing on any conversation when Connor’s getting a massage I’ll talk to you later yeah I know like that and in a way I’m kind of thinking like what is he doing like one man my man’s like in the zone getting a massage and wonder boys like hey man hey hey hey hey now let’s take a look at the team scorecards after four episodes team McGregor has one’s absolutely zero fights with the prospects that means team Chandler is on a hot streak with the veterans looking to win a contract back in the UFC with that you’re welcome in the coach with the juice right now iron Michael Chandler coach what is up my brother how are you today man I’m doing great man just uh I love seeing that uh perfect record on team Chandler so it’s good love it love it so now you are 4-0 against team McGregor I mean if this was basketball that would be considered a clean sweep my man now tell me like what’s it feel like for you right now going in 4-0 against against uh Conor it’s good you know because obviously each week you know everyone’s seeing this you know this will be 12 weeks on ESPN uh but for me there was you know every single fight it was every couple days or whatnot it just seemed like such a whirlwind so by the time you know by the time Austin Hubbard beat Aaron McKenzie I’m already ready for Timor to fight Trevor and you’re excited for the previous winner but you’re also now looking forward toward the next guy who is fighting getting them in the best best shape mentally physically and spiritually um so it was a whirlwind but I think myself my coaching staff we put together a great a great team atmosphere and obviously it’s showing really well here on uh ESPN every week well it is showing well but what do you think is really making a difference is is it the coaching that you guys are doing out there or is it the experience the fighters have on your team what’s making the difference you know I I think I’ve been seeing people talk around around the world around the country about you know of course the veterans are winning but obviously the veterans are a double-edged sword obviously you come in you got more experience but you’ve also been told you’re not good enough you’ve also been you also could be a a PE teacher like Cody Gibson you also could be working at a water restoration company like Austin Hubbard you could already be on to your next career and now fighting is taking a back seat but I think what you’re seeing is it playing out every single week that team Chandler myself and my coaching staff we really loved these dudes we really made them believe in themselves more than they ever thought that they possibly could and uh man it was good you know obviously right now we’re still very early in the show we always got to remember if the more success you have with a team you could end up fighting your own teammates but right now we had a really great team atmosphere early in the show and uh it showed out there with their performances now Mike I’m gonna keep it real with you my man watching this episode I was upset I was personally offended when they tried to punk you over that weight on which uh teamer yeah so take me back to that I guess but first you know what let’s take a look at that take a look at that and then we’ll talk about it after we see it color is not gonna be able to make it okay he said I saw the message it’s 135 pounds I’m just a messenger though Connor was supposed to show up and we were in a gonna negotiate about the catch weight Connor doesn’t show up so it’s just me talking to his coaches about it 135 pounds no negotiations okay that’s the message all right cool see you tomorrow well I don’t really think it’s up to Conor are you guys weighing and we’re okay 144. tell him 144 no negotiations we already talked to Dana and the executive producer okay my man yeah I mean like watching that like first off he don’t even show up and then he said this is going in to tell you 135 no negotiations man what’s going through your mind right there yeah let’s be honest I I kind of knew that was going to happen I didn’t know there wasn’t going to be I didn’t know Connor wasn’t going to show up you know when they said hey it’s between you and Connor I think okay so me and Connor could talk it out like coaches talk it out like men figure it out and quite frankly they probably would have got a little bit more um you know a little bit more I guess lesser of a catch weight if Conor would have actually showed up but when he brought his his coach in and he’s a nice enough guy I had a decent relationship with all of Connor’s team but for him to say hey Conor’s not showing up and uh you know 135 no negotiations essentially it’s hey man it ain’t no it ain’t it ain’t up to you you know Timor showed up uh there’s no he’s the bigger guy and I saw obviously I was talking to Dana Connor was there Timor was watching and listened to the conversation that way I had with Dana White and Dana White was talking about a catch weight so we were getting to catch weight no matter what obviously I tried to go 145. 145 is a whole new weight class so I understand why they couldn’t do 145 that’s when I said 144 and I knew we were going to end up somewhere around that 140 142-ish uh so why was okay later on whenever they finally said okay 142 when Daniel called me but I had to dig my heels in for my guy Timor and Mike I actually considered that a win man you got a win right there negotiating that weight class how how good did it feel to get that win and is it refreshing to know that Conor does not always get his way out there yeah it is good man let’s be honest you know everybody knows the landscape you know when you when you are competing against Connor Connor wants it his way it’s the Conor McGregor show it’s it’s Connor it’s Connor or bust he thinks he runs the show so of course I had to dig my heels in when I could obviously in this kind of scenario um a catch weight just made too much sense for us not to do um but I think it was a little bit of Mind Games and then also Connor once again with more mind games not showing up and just kind of saying hey it’s my way or the highway then you guys saw in the episode Dana calls me and said hey what do you think about 142. to me like you said Gilbert that was a win um I didn’t expect us to fight at 144 145 I was okay with the 142 me and Timor had already talked about that 142 141-ish he was going to be fine making so it felt like a win uh but that’s par for the course so far here on tough 31. well Mike we got some questions from the viewers and this one is from at Finish Trujillo now as a as a coach on tough and a fight of yourself do you give some of the secrets that you use in your camper do you kind of hold it hold a little bit back or do you just give every or do you give some to the fighters too man I get I get everything you know um that was my opportunity to to pour every single thing I could into my guys and I didn’t care if it was going to be on ESPN I didn’t care if there was quote unquote secrets of my game the way that I trained the way that I prepare and then Connor sees it and his coaches see it I could care less man at the end of the day that cage door closes we bite down our mouthpiece and then game plans go out the window techniques preparation all that stuff goes out the window and that’s why people love mixed martial arts so I gave every single tidbit I could to my guys if not just for the fact that I wanted them to feel like they had all access full access to me not just from the X’s and O’s the physical aspect of it me teaching them how to punch kick knee elbow wrestle from the mindset from the heart set from from my faith in the sport and how I approach the sport so um it was just it was it was very important to me to to love on these guys and show them every single thing that they asked about and even things they didn’t ask about I would offer up information at all times to make these guys really Break Down The Walls between myself and them because you got to remember we were complete strangers you know just a day before the show and then all of a sudden we’re still basically strangers a week into the show two weeks into the show so it was good but I seems to be the general consensus many of them spoke about how they didn’t go on the show thinking they were going to have friends in the family and they obviously did and it kind of it shows in the results so far but Conor has been in the news this past week for allegations against him have you gotten any word that anything may be changing on the fight between you two man no word whatsoever obviously you know uh it’s unfortunate any kind of stuff going on outside of just the fight game and of course there’s the usada thing going on looming over everybody’s head I get it everybody watching right now everybody around the world when you’re talking about a fight of this magnitude Conor versus myself it’s a huge huge fight so people are eager for answers they’re eager for information everybody’s talking everybody’s looking for a new opponent for him looking for a nude opponent for me when’s it gonna happen there’s so much up in the air all I can do is focus on what I can control I don’t have any more information I wish I could give you something right now uh but as far as I’m concerned the fight against Conor is still happening maybe it doesn’t happen by the end of this year which it still might um but if not it’s going to be first quarter next year either way we’re moving forward and uh I will separate him from Consciousness within the first two rounds of that fight I love your confidence I love everything you’ve been doing I’ve been loving and enjoying this season so far I look forward to next week Mike you are the man I’ll see you soon yes sir thank you boys I appreciate y’all all right thank you very much that was iron Michael Chandler now let’s talk about your season coach of season 20. that’s correct you as a coach what was it like spending so much time with all them guys then at the end of it having to be having to fight your uh the opposing coach well it wasn’t with all those guys it was with all the ladies right right it was the ladies so so it was the very very first time that they introduced a 115 pound weight class ladies and all these new names came out and uh it was definitely a great experience um it’s great to see uh people like Angela Hill and Rose Nami Eunice have success even even Beck Rawlings and and many more of those ladies had a bunch of of success and it was a really great time doing it um definitely a challenge coaching ladies right because uh as a male we always train together and we beat each other up and and we can address each other a little more aggressively but it was it was definitely how to work on a different approach to coaching and but it was a very good man my man you was you was there when Angela Hill and Rose thought Rose was just babies wow isn’t that isn’t it great to see them uh you know blossom into the to the fighters they are today and and again those ladies I mentioned they were such hard workers and Angela Hill I don’t think missed any practices and never complained was out there and I’m very happy to see your success I think when she jumped on the program she was 1-0 with little to no experience but but just the heart and kept training and uh and of course you know seen Rose uh do a very good job for the team and succeed and and uh full circle you know her and Carla Esparza fighting each other a second time so uh it’s great to see and to be a part of History um and uh and partaking in that UFC one certainly changed the lives of many and it’s on his way of changing the life of our next guest so it’s time to give the winner of episode four his shine he smashed on his opponent and gave team Chandler its fourth straight Victory joining just live from Thailand by the way of Dagestan Russia Timor Valley of how are you my friend hello guys good to see you I am great thank you early morning in Thailand I wake up and I’m ready well we appreciate you waking up for us man like I couldn’t get Gilbert to wake up for me so like thank you for doing that now on to the fight now you Trevor Wells Trevor Wells gave you a very competitive fight it was a competitive fight did he surprise you with anything um yes he surprised me in beginning in first round when I tried to take him down and he keep rolling I take him down again and he and he keep rolling again and he had good game plan you know he gave me competitive fights and fell around very tough I watched the fight I believe you won both rounds decisively the first one a little competitive but the second round I believe you won as well uh do you have a certain type of approach knowing that you’re fighting only two rounds 10 minutes possibly three but you have a different approach and also knowing that you’re gonna fight a couple weeks down the road are you holding some back is there a different strategy uh because you’re fighting two rounds and multiple fights in the house yes for sure I knew before fight it’s fight gonna be two rounds and maybe extra third round that’s why I give High Pace in beginning you know I know it’s gonna be no good page and two rounds anyway I’m gonna be good you know and after two rounds when if next fight I’m gonna be you know more smart and don’t don’t use so much energy teamer obviously there was some issues with the weight you had to make weight a second time how big of a cut was it the second time and how big are you like how much do you weigh because everybody’s been talking about how big you are I’m 155 now you know and when I was on the show I was around 150 is it true that you took a picture with Nick Diaz and then almost had to fight him 10 minutes afterwards Nick Diaz I don’t fight him he fight me because Nate fight is habit wow man that’s incredible man well I’ll tell you what a lot of people will have run-ins with Nick but he’s a great guy out there and I heard you got a picture with them right we got a lot of respect and everything of course yeah but I’m big I’m big fine Nick Diaz all of Nadia’s Brothers you know big fan you give us big big fights big story I was kid and watching your fight guys that’s awesome that’s awesome but I do respect that you live by a code and you have to back up your team and family when it is time huh yes yes this is great I tell you what the Timor you fighters from Russia do not play and there’s a phrase that you guys use has taken the World by storm and let me show you what I’m talking about trailer I’m happy we finally gonna finish our business be a good guy but inside the Octagon I’m gonna smash you tomorrow night I’m gonna smash your boy guys I’m gonna smash your boy oh if she put in front of me I’m gonna smash all these people smash somebody you know take my money and go home I smash you I smash you how’s that this is smash Team bro I’ve heard of the smash team before but that was in a different uh different genre of of life yeah okay well Timor we appreciate you coming on my friend thank you so much I look forward to seeing you so much yeah I look forward to seeing the rest of the season and seeing how well you do okay thank you guys so much obviously all right that was Timor value of but what I want to talk about now Gil is your record oh and six come on man what was that like going over six well you know doing The Ultimate Fighter I went 0-6 at the beginning it was challenging because when we were able to pick uh the fighter you won on your team they were already matched up they receded one through 16. so when you pick your fighter see I picked the number two seed they already matched against the the number seventh or eighth or however many ladies that were on there uh so you didn’t really get to be strategic about who fought who and I think that’s kind of the case here now right you’re seated and you’re and you’re in that direction so it took a lot of way for me as a strategic coach but at the same time you know we had to remind these ladies they stay sharp uh you don’t know someone may get injured you may have another opportunity and you just gotta stay positive in these in these situations right you got to keep on moving forward whether you win or lose and keep on trucking and that’s just the name of the game in life and in fighting yeah but did you find it hard to keep their morale high after loss after loss after loss after loss yes I mean it’s it’s definitely we have to go back in time it’s been a while you know it’s been a while but uh the morale is down but you gotta you gotta focus on the right moments and again like I said you know one of the first fights was was Angela Hill I think against Carlos bars that angelil had little to no grappling experience at that time and uh was losing so at the time we had our our uh our lower seeds fighting the higher seeds and we knew as things would play out things would get better and and they did you know but um but it is definitely a challenge to always keep the morale but I mean these they’re Warriors they’re ladies they fight they fight for a living they have the right mentality they were there to win and uh they all bounced back yes with our help but just because they were strong enough mentally to handle it I love it now let’s take a look at some bonus footage we have of Conor McGregor and Stephen Thompson Talking Shop please gotta have it in front baby lead like stuff all the way down yeah and there’s just just to find that balance right right right right that sitter gravity there right you know what I mean you can paint the picture of a million different styles you know what I mean yeah the Moon mixed martial arts thank you man so Gil normally we play this game called what the hell did he just say and I find it hard to understand him sometimes so what the hell did he just say that whole thing other than trying to find a balance I’m not sure what he said oh man I think it was great man they’re just throwing it out two guys who were professional fire fighters at the top of the game but still really enjoying the sport fans of the sport loving the sport completely passionate about the sport I think it’s a good time watching him do it I love it man I love it Conor McGregor Stevie Wonder Boy Thompson Talking Shop about karate he’s a karate master who some called the original Karate hottie and was brought in to help team McGregor this episode let’s welcome in Stevie Wonder Boy Thomas to the show he Wonder Boy Thomas and martial arts his life I started training in martial arts the very first day I was born and when I was two years old I started fighting grown men then when I was six years old I won my first kumate tournament I’m undefeated in over 4 000 kickboxing matches it got to the point where no one wanted to fight me everyone was afraid but now I’m a UFC fighter and I’m so lucky to train with Conor McGregor on tough 31. best of luck to all the competitors this season and remember martial arts is life come on man come on dog come on man you know you my daughter but I had to get you that was perfect I mean you had me down I mean the hair and everything it wasn’t easy to comb that hair like that I tell you I don’t know how you do it on a daily basis but that wasn’t easy oh my gosh I love it man four thousand fights dude no I’m sorry for selling you short like that no it’s all good it’s all good bro well let’s talk about this episode so you have a relationship with Connor what was that like prior to coming on to the show and what’s it like now oh man it was it was awesome man I mean just to be able to for him to invite me out to be a part of the show to be a coach and help these up and coming up and coming uh Fighters kind of do their thing and hopefully you know able to teach these guys because they’re they’re in they’re you know they’re in full you know fighting mode they’re in their grit they’re training and for these guys to come in with an empty cup and to learn from myself and Connor and these guys it was it was awesome man and even watching after uh watching these guys fight watching some of these guys win watching some of them lose um you know they’re they’re hungry so you haven’t seen the last of these guys yet yes Stephen you’re there with all those athletes you know for myself as a coach sometimes I try to adapt to their style you know I do believe everyone can can pick up the karate style and and who picked it up the best like which which fighter you think stood out with that karate style oh man there’s a few guys out in there that have come up with a karate background but they all picked it up fairly well especially when it comes to the movement now the style is a little different and it doesn’t work for everybody but what I asked to do is if there’s anything that they could that they learn from me today um you know they can throw it away something that they can use for in their in their Arsenal I don’t care how big or small it was I just wanted them to adapt and try to try something new and that’s something especially when these up and coming guys are I guess kind of afraid of is to think outside the box a little bit right to try something new and um and and and take that and roll with it so basically my goal was out there uh to help these guys with with their movement their angle changing their timing which makes all the difference out there in a fight you know Connor says he brought you on to maybe give a little spark to the guys when you got there what was the morale like on his team oh man so some of the guys just had fought the the week or actually the day before and some of the guys I I think they they had lost so the morale was fairly low and I do something every time I step on on a mat or anywhere that I’m at to be honest with you sometimes we all you know you guys have been there there are days where we don’t want to go to the gym we don’t want to train and that can rub off on people right just your your attitude your mindset they see you coming in head down you know uh and act entire looking tired but what I do and I can see it change in everybody’s mindset I always come in with a smile on my face man I don’t care how bad I’m feeling I don’t care how you know my honey broke up with me you know you me and Pops had a bad uh argument the day before I always come with a smile on my face and it’s crazy how that changes everybody’s mindset in in morale so that’s what I did I I came in there I smiled to put a smile on my face and everybody was ready to rock and roll Stephen you’re a wonderful coach I mean right now you said you’re taking a break between classes to do this interview you coach all the time would you like to coach the ultimate fighter and if you were to coach the ultimate fighter who would you coach against and who would you be fighting for that nmf title great questions actually if I was going to do so first off I would love to do the tough show and if I’m going to do it against anybody it’s got to be the champ it’s got to be Leon Edwards my man I mean that he’s the champ I mean that’s who I have to do it against if I was going to do The Ultimate Fighter but um and wait what was the second question again go for it well I would just say it’s for the n and MF top the nicest you know mother you know I was trying to say who’s that guy he don’t even know what that means you’re even afraid to say it in front of me yeah all right so there’s a few guys out there number one it was Vicente lique right we were like when we fought each other the winner of that was going to take the nmf home so obviously Vicente lique um let’s say uh you have um uh Moreno yeah Moreno I think he’s I think he’s an nmf um God there’s so many there’s so so many nice guys out there um my last opponent which was crazy he didn’t seem like it but he’s the sweetest guy ever Kevin Holland is actually a nice guy even though every time I see on social media he’s getting ready to fight somebody but Kevin is actually a nice guy as well there’s a lot of them out there man I wish I had a belt for everybody but man you know it what people don’t see is how everybody is outside of the cage right you see this tough you see these Fighters out there gritting and and going through the grind when they’re fighting but outside of it man we’re like big teddy bears man we’re we’re nice people well I think you’re being a little generous to some guys because not everybody is nice but I will say this and I don’t know if you noticed but you were recently voted the nicest UFC fighter of all time by your peers check this out we’re not going to meet a nicer guy than Stephen Thompson who again let the fighting do the talking look at all those Knockouts you forget what a badass he is my number one is Stephen Wonderboy Thompson uh two years ago Stephen Thompson and I were training he dropped me with a body shot to this day he still apologizes uh for that body shot so you know like Laura spoke about he does he spends his free time driving around uh kids on Shore buses to back and forth from school to to his program and he really spends a lot of his time also giving back to the youth and wanting to instill Mixed Martial or martial arts in general yeah uh into into today’s children uh Stephen Thompson is the real deal next guy so if you don’t know who that was that was yeah that was Laura sanco and Anthony Smith just talking about how nice of a destiny well you know because you dropped him with that body shot but I know he was like I’m sure you dropped a lot of people with body shots I do man you know what it’s funny it is weird I guess that you know even though this is the fight game you know uh even though I’m out there to do damage to my opponent it I I get a good feeling out of it but I also my goal is not to go out there and really injure somebody right I think there’s ways to beat people but doing it in a nice Manner and at the end of the day at the end of my career I wanted to not just be known as an amazing martial artist or one of the best in the world but uh all-around nice guy man a good person hopefully that um you know can that can I can pass that on to the next Generation as well well I’ll tell you what my man I was talking to Gil earlier and I said man it’s he’s so nice it almost seems fake but it’s as genuine as it can get and the people love you for it and we appreciate you for it and you are a true gentleman we appreciate you what you’ve done for the sport and all that you continue to do so go pick up them kids man go back to your karate class and we’ll talk to you soon my man thank you again for the time thanks for having me guys y’all y’all take care you know Stevie Wonder Boy Thompson is one of the nicest human beings you’ll ever meet and obviously kind of brought him off for a good reason but you went the opposite direction in your season you brought on Chrome Gracie and the scrap prac scrap pack that’s right man the scrap pack well you know one of the baddest teams ever to do it you know I think we’re great guys you know we just have a we just got brought up differently man we were thrown into the deep end uh and it’s a sink or swim mentality uh we just pushed put everyone in the pressure cooker and and just figure if they want to be her or not because you know we thrive on conditioning on taking two punches just to give one and of course I bought the great Chrome Gracie in who just won Abu dhabis at that time I just got finished beating uh Diego Sanchez we’re both like on the top of our game right there so I thought it was great to bring uh the son of hicks and Gracie Gracie someone who’s just you know very smart uh in mixed martial arts and in Jiu Jitsu and I thought he can really add on to the team and of course we had Nate Diaz there I felt like he complimented me in my career I was a wrestler who took people down I’d ground and pound people but he would submit me so there was no one better off their back than Nate Diaz to help me out and for my for nade I believe there’s no one as good on top with that ground and pound so we really complemented each other and it was a great experience and of course I had Jake shields on there too and that guy’s my big brother and I had him on there because Jake’s the type of guy as a coach I don’t like to point someone out on the corner that’s being a little bit of a right I’m like hey that’s your choice do you want to be a go ahead be a but Jake he thrives on it he loves pointing that person out and saying you’re being a you need to get out there and train and I sit there on the side and I nod and I say yep Jake is right so I brought everyone in and you know we come from a rough team but we’re loyal to each other we’re homegrown and uh I’m proud we’re one of the baddest teams to ever do it I love it man I mean you guys have had a history of sticking together and just doing things your way now of those three that you had you had Nate Diaz Chrome Gracie and Jake Shields helping out with the coaching which one do you think had the most impact on the team oh man that’s definitely tough because everyone had their own impact but again like I said Jake Shields was always this authority figure and a big brother to myself I didn’t know Nick is Nate’s big brother but we always looked up to these guys as our big Bros you you know when I first started my career man like I had a great time training man but Nick and Jake they were so serious about it all let’s fight let’s train they were just there and I was just along for the good ride so you know Jake is one of the best coaches out there again he likes to call people if they’re being lazy and he holds them accountable and that’s one of the hardest things about being a coach you know for me I train hard if you want to join along I’m not going to beg you to do it but Jake was really good at holding people accountable and and saying the things that everyone is thinking but uh but sometimes it’s challenging too well the scrap pack will always hold a special place in the hearts and in the memories of MMA fans but now let’s take a look at some more bonus footage that we have for you well you get you get that good massage in maybe I love yeah oh yes what the Roadhouse yeah oh yeah it’s cool did you have a good time pretty good it’s pretty cool I love that pretty too bad hours and hours I just did a commercial to be honest took four flip it ever to be honest since Dylan and everything else feels easy really illustrate even this like really that that’s why I committed to this because I was like you know the preparation it takes before you go on to the set yeah are you thinking and having to get the Lions right and everything and when the actual effort while you’re on set 15 hour days I’ve never experienced anything like in my life to be honest I Azure I just feel like I’m on a I’m on a day off all right okay yeah you’re going home and you get like you’ve only got a couple hours sleeping with him because sometimes we start on 6 p.m to 6 a.m honestly and then and then and then they wanted to switch from the 6 a.m and then they wanted to switch it to 6 a.m to 6 p.m so you’re swapping straight away and it’s like I’ve only got a few hours sleep you’re like I just I’m just bouncing off a speeding speed boat in there holding an anger into the scene for the shot for hours on end today yeah and then I’ll go home and they want me to back up in four hours or five hours to go again I’m like this is crazy yeah I almost broke a few times but I’m happy I got to do it and me too man I’m a bit nervous how it looks you know I’ll see how it is what I could give you know anything I know everybody they seem to have been that’s the main thing man I’m telling you he’s not wrong about that and when I think about it because I’ve been on movie sets before In the comparison I always think Fighters are lazy in comparison to actors because they’d be on set for 15 hours doing anything 15 hours at a time Fighters go in they train two hours go home rest play video games and come back train two hours and go home rest play around goof off but kind of ain’t wrong about that I mean to be on set and to do a movie especially at a movie at the magnitude that he did man that’s a lot is it a lot man I actually had the opportunity of doing something with Kung Lee it was called Dragon Eyes got to do a little bit acting on there but I don’t know about that Dean I think you guys are getting soft out there all of a sudden you’re in Hollywood you’re doing some acting now you guys are divas now it’s hard work we’re good would you say to me boy you call me a diva look at that actor look at that actor right there he called me a diva okay I’m sorry I’m sorry it’s hard work it’s hard work it’s way harder than getting punched in the face way harder way harder they used to call me crazy Joe and now they call me Batman but now let us go to a tough flashback with Gilbert Melendez ladies and gentlemen this is the coach’s challenge coaches you’ll be tested on your knowledge of the UFC it’s time in the history of The Ultimate Fighter there have been 10 fighters who have both competed and coached the show name two of them Gill Rashad Evans Forest Griffin correct I don’t think there was ever a point where Gill was behind and he just blew it out of the water in the last round UFC 34 Matt Hughes takes the world Welterweight Title from Carlos Newton of the very first round by what slammed him with the triangle correct yes who needed only six seconds to record the fastest KO in UFC history Dwayne Bang Ludwig correct we have a winner the winner of the new coaches challenge Champion is Gilbert El Nino and I’m taking the back congratulations Gilbert you win ten thousand dollars in cash and each of your Fighters have each won fifteen hundred dollars oh my God that was Anthony Pettis even trying I I think he was trying I think he was trying as hard as you could man but you know come on man come on I’m a fan of mixed martial arts I mean since UFC actually UFC UFC four was my first woman when I was in seventh grade and again man I know my history I love the sport right I think all these young Fighters some of them forget the history you got you have to know the history of the sport man man dude I know your history too man I know you’ve been out there you know and I think some of these youngsters forget about it you know so I love the sport I’m passionate I’m a fighter but I’m always a fan first and man what a great Victory it felt great you know you know we got 10 grand we got we got a bunch of ones out there you know the ladies threw it up they got their money it was a it was a big moment for all of us that helped the team around it was a great time well if you think you want that smoke let’s play some tough trivia right now all right but I ain’t got no cash prize you know what I’m saying like I ain’t got no money we broke around here in fact I had to pay to get this gig you know what I’m saying like that’s why I’m here because I paid but let’s play some trivia right now all right all right you ready for this okay all right so who was the first contestant from The Ultimate Fighter to compete for UFC Championship that would be first contestant uh ah dang Forrest Griffin damn Nate Quarry I was about to say Nate Corey I almost say to Nate Corey he got knocked out by Rich Franklin damn it right yeah that was it yeah man I did have that all right on season four I competed on that season what was the name of the team that I was on [Music] yeah uh team badass close team Mojo team Mojo all right so there’s this one this one’s probably a little bit easier for you which contestant from The Ultimate Fighter has the most wins in UFC history uh that would be was Jim Miller on the ultimate fighter fighter I’m gonna go with my boy Nate Diaz wrong [Music] [Laughter] all right on what season of The Ultimate Fighter did Rampage Jackson destroy the door inside the UFC training facility I know that was against Rashad Evans I’m gonna just go say that was 11. oh so close so close it was season tender it was season ten okay we’re shaking it up which ultimate fighter earned his redemption in season 25 after being kicked off the show in season I know this one this is JT bills JT Money one of the best out there man Jesse Taylor let’s go I forgot that dude was alive uh that guy he’s a warrior he’s still going at it I think he’s still fighting I have no idea how you remember that all right or this one should be very interesting for you which two Ultimate Fighter Champions competed against each other at UFC 239 a card on which you also fought on 239 I also fought on two people they were they were tough Champions they were tough Champions were was it a finale show or just a tough Champions there just wasn’t a finale show it was a um finale show it was it was not a finale it was not a finale show just two Champions fought on the same card man I’m drawing a blank I just want to throw some names out uh um damn I don’t know Rashad Evans and Forrest Griffin I was there to watch I don’t remember I don’t know who was that Michael Kia San Diego Sanchez all right we got one more how many champs from Strike Force also became UFC Champions yeah Daniel Cormier Luke rockhold uh Tyron Woodley Champs Tyron Strike Force champs yeah that’s and they also became UFC champs Tyron Luke rockhold and uh and damn Cormier he was the he wasn’t the champion but he was the tournament champ that’s what I got for you I don’t know well you are completely wrong Tyron Woodley was not a strike force Champion he wasn’t no he was not Luke rockhold was so the Champs were it was four of them Miesha Tate Ronda Rousey Chris Cyborg and Luke oh man Cormier was a champ he was the heavyweight tournament champ champ so he was a champ well unfortunately you don’t get to win the trophy but you can pay my fee for being on this gig so for losing stinking it up so bad man I stunk it up man I I swear I had that first one in my head I almost said Nate Corey wow wow it was close yeah next time now it’s time to get to the meme of the week I call this one the face I make when people drink black coffee or I call this one how a four-year-old looks after they can prove they can count to ten but ultimately what I decided on this one was with every dagestani fighter says after a win [Music] now we got the meme of the week from tough 20. oh Lord what was it what was going on here Gilbert Melinda bubble gum that’s Rhonda Marco right there she did a great job forgot about here for a minute but what is going on refresh my memory play it all out some bubblegum action this looks like a fierce stare down right here in uh some mental games with the bubble blown in the face two girls in a bubble two girls in a bubble two girls in a bubble I hear that well Gil I appreciate you coming on the show my man it was a lot of fun you know you can come back anytime we had a good time and I appreciate you being here uh what a pleasure and what a great time thank you so much Dean all right my man next week we have a great matchup for episode 5 team McGregor’s number three Carlos Vera takes on team Chandler’s number two seed tough season 27 winner Brad Katona who’s looking to become the first two-time Ultimate Fighter Champion can he get team Chandler to that 5-0 record but make sure you check out the next episode of The Ultimate Fighter Team McGregor versus Team Chandler Tuesday at 10 p.m Eastern on ESPN ESPN plus then stick around for after tough because season two winner sugar Rashad Evans is back to breakdown episode five catch us on ESPN plus YouTube Facebook and Twitter thank you this week’s episode was fantastic and it might have been the best fight of the season so far the original matchup from two weeks ago was postponed because Trevor had that nasty cold sore but Trevor don’t be ashamed if you stay in this game long enough you will catch the gas face but Timor you showed to be a true gangster not because you want to fight but because you hooked up with a girl that’s your grandmother hooked you up with my grandmother never gave me anything but some hard candy and some butter cookies with a tin can and Trevor you made a fan of me you fought like a warrior if this was three rounds you might have won but it wasn’t and you didn’t and I know it was heartbreaking because you even promised your father that you come back as The Ultimate Fighter but we have to remember never confuse your desire for your ability but if you want something really as bad as you say you do you won’t let a couple of setbacks get in your way you will continue to work and you will subject yourself to ridicule criticism and even more losses because nothing comes easy unless you’re a Mumble rapper but eventually with persistence intelligent planning and hard work it will pay off until next time I’m Dean Thomas I’m not here to give you a problem I’m just here to give you some tough love have a good night [Music]
