UFC Fights We Are Thankful For are back in 2023, featuring a heaping portion of top Octagon moments you have to relive!

[Music] should be a classic what what do you think by the way when the referee touches their forehead what he’s looking for uh Vaseline oh yeah because he he’s like blessing them who look that right l oh nice by a million by a million so strong crowd still buzzing by what we saw oh between Silva and Hunt but now the focus completely on this Main Event between amelo and noan we’ve seen this before he looked at the he might try the atomic but drop it wasn’ted they don’t use it m course has worked with a Cuban national boxing team aano having recovered from from the nasty cut over his right eye which brought about the no contest ruling in the final of the heavyweight tournament interesting how he’s moving in this fight you guys nice down by and a soccer kick by aano he may not have been moving in the corner before the fight but he is definitely moving now yeah he’s just sound like a statue when they play the national an you know I mean I’m r [Music] there’s no no emotion nothing he’s just Stone there he B man the road to the final for a melano began by eliminating Mark Coleman then Kevin randman then naoya oawa saat kick there yeah you know what he can deliver so much damage if he wants to NGA but you can never C Nera out he comes back from the dead and will M you nice kick to the body by Fedora NOA eliminated here at taka yoy Heath hering and then Sergey haritonov look at this he just throw just throws him away you guys exactly boss and we know boss that oga’s lost a little bit more weight he said he needed to be quicker in this rematch Randy he wanted to stick and move against noera or excuse me a million an but thus far it’s been a million enko who is kind of toying with NOA right now he steps in and throws a nice hand combination and follows through to a huge takeown just drops it and then steps back again let him up Slips Away with that one though tried the third time to take him down the same way and of course a person who is watching with vested interest at ringside Randy and boss is jco kocot yeah he really wants to fight filo yeah that’s the way you pronounce or Antonio Rodrigo Nero whoever emerges as Champion tonight yeah but he said that he really wanted to fight him it’s true he said both whoever wins the title nice take down defense by by Fedora there that was that was really nice who look at that nope stacking up noera here is a million enko but now in the closed guard now posturing and this is where a million enko can be very dangerous Randy when he gets that distance starts launching those scut missiles at your head yeah there’s not [Music] health and head referee yui shamata don’t move get up okay and they we had it before are going to restart the center of the Ring here again you can almost feel the intensity here the satama super Arena filled to capacity a crowd Fedor backs out he’s he’s Fedor is very active in this fight he he’s moving around yeah you notice the the bobbing and weaving not used to seeing a lot of that movement from ailano and it’s noera again we thought he’d employ a different strategy boss but it seems again he’s he’s forced to revert to what he had to do in the two other fights yeah because uh Fodor also reversed his tactics here this is f we normally see that’s what I’m saying so it’s it’s it’s again a case of a mileno who is uh outsmarting noera right now but noera s also he had a new game plan not working it doesn’t adapt to the new eagor nice kick yeah they’re Russian they all look alike oh that’s from Russia he said from a distance did noera that he would feel comfortable with a million enko Randy but from in close that that’s where million enko would definitely cause some some problems how how do you feel about that I the way I see it right now he’s having trouble getting a Mele ankle at all and there it is again every time they get close he gets slung to the mat it’s got to take a lot of power for ailon enko to do that all the time nice jab stiff jab by Boy aelon enko and noera we know can take a shot but that puts him on his back once again and the crowd the crowd sounded off on the on the sound of that one I think Crow cop wow Milano ended nga’s First Title reign at Pride 25 in March of 2003 and right now he is in total control here noera wanted this Championship wanted this fight so bad we saw how utterly disappointed boss he was by the ruling of the no contest at final Conflict 20 for is it a case maybe right now where he’s just you know what I mean that nervous oh my gosh right hand but he could take he’s dizzy he’s dizzy look at him he’s wobbling on his feet right now there’s take down attempt by no Garrett no covered he’s still not covered low kick delivered by ailon anko he’s just sizing him up now but you know what noera is the same as ven Z he always recoups to real fast oh man left jab delivered by ailano and he’s very methodical you guys I mean it’s for ailano you it just looks like you know going about my business here sticking and moving a lot yeah it’s like G no respect to nera’s punching ability here noera hasn’t hit him one time his hands at his waist and he’s just teeing [Music] off said he needed to be faster needed to stick and move and now he attempts a combination missing with the right however but they are standing more than we’ve seen and their other two matchups kick by Fedora a stiff jab I just want to say even his Jab shot body he’s really putting together oh loading up with that right hand was a million enko there’s a middle kick few more maybe he’s been thinking and thought you know what I can’t K home to the Head let’s work the Buddy a little bit it’s amazing the punishment that noer has been able to absorb of the best guys including Fedor in these other fights and this fight just snap back with that left jab yeah you’re right I mean but then again will he pay the price later on in his life is the uh question that remains to be unanswered because man he has taken on unbelievable amount of punishment he’s one of the toughest guys in the business look at us being quiet H what attention want into the into the screen right here yeah this is I mean you just are waiting for the next explosion look at Miracle kroop his arms are crossed he is not moving his line of vision away from these two I think noar’s eared he uh respects milliano fedor’s punching power a little too much right now and uh what do you guys think Randy aboss uh a shoot attempt right now I think would be met with a nice sprawl perhaps a knee to the head it’s it’s really hard to hit a guy with a good shot when he’s backing up there it is there’s the shot done and this is what nogaro wanted he said I want to take him down and one time work from his guard now it’s going to be a half then but that’s this was his plan did a nice job of using the corner backed him up to the ropes there bounced him off the ropes and follow through with the take down yeah when you said it Mar I thought you know he’s going to wait till R number two right maybe Fedor is not going to expect it anymore and then he’s going to shoot right and yet you’re right he said that in the pre-match interviews that he was going to try to take him down because he wanted to show million enko what it’s like to be on the bottom but and here it is the first opportunity first down was an armar there at the end of first round same as with am Crow almost almost CT amazing big right hand follows through with the take down right back to his feet W [Music] oh and he’s been stilling in it nice right hand saw the foot coming up through that right hand rers noer thre that tie kick oh big right hand single leg take down stays on his feet for Fedor man that’s about as big a right hand as you’re going to see in this sport holy cow single single see what adjustments noer can make now see if he can find a way to again get on top and take advantage of that top position maybe right away from the Bell bam shoot in he’s got to catch M door taking a forward step to be able to take him down all right after round number one which was mainly controlled by million Eno Fedor we head into round two of this the main event of Shockwave with the pride heavyweight championship and the 2004 heavyweight tournament championship at stake good take down defense by by Fedor he was expecting that shot been impressed with how Fedor developed you know first time he looked solely to be a striker and just ground and pound and now we’re seeing him put together some submission skills and do some things this Tak down defense is very [Music] impressive it’s interesting though you guys that noera as he now goes in close quarters he wanted to stick and move wanted to be faster but it looks like he uh really does respect a milono the second he stops moving his head door hits him right in it that’s it and uh again nice exchange there right St left hook hook upper cut NE anko on the other hand not showing a terrible amount of punching power got his hands at his Weist for crying out loud the good thing the good thing is if you have a hands at your waist you pretty much know for sure that your opponent’s going to hit your head you only have to pull back I do it exactly way my hands real high up I know to go for the body maybe that’s a strategy he’s not getting hit in the head that much you brought up a good point early on there’s some uh good take down defense there’s that we talked about earlier as well in the last round but Randy you brought up a good point earlier that uh million anko seems to be a lot more elusive a lot more active in his movements in this fight in and out side to side sticking move uh a lot of footwork going on there he’s he’s doing a great job of controlling the tempo this [Applause] fight Garett doing a nice job of following the knee and jumping to the guard he’s like I got to get this guy to the ground somehow that’s where he has him now see how easy that he he escaped this I mean almost looks like tries to put it on already escapes yeah he already knows out control look at he doesn’t escape he escap he’s gone before it even gets put on not feel good for Nar it’s got to be frustrating yeah you can see the frustration just emanating from his body it’s all over his face and uh Fodor Milano continues to stick to what has been successful thus far and you talked about making adjustments Randy Couture have to do them nice take down by ankko you think Randy that if uh Theodor milliano does emerge Victorious here and has a date with Miracle crocop I mean he’s he’s going to have to obviously change his uh guard while standing I think croop will get his attention in a real hurry if he keep his hands at his waist oh look at this another triangle so easy gett kind of holding his side a little bit there like hurt done something got to be a little disconcerning to have those punches coming from down at the waist Lea not used to seeing him come from down there and noera tagged him with a right and again it was like million anle just watered it away like a you know fly it’s been all a million EO nice big long stiff jab coming from the mid ankle waist and that actually puts his hands in nice position for that take down defense oh that’s probably it his waist it’s got to be it how do you get under those hands to get to his hips to take him down when they’re at his weight his hands are down I did this one time with the box it was real fun he put his hands down and he put his head forward and he like hit me in the head and I looked in his eyes and I gave him a right straight to the solar PL and he went out it was so good see so that’s maybe the way noer should try to do it keep looking at his eyes and then go for the body but I don’t know if you can hurt F or it looks to me like look at him there’s a hammer again it’s like the second time we’ve seen it now at the end of the round where some real damage could have been done either with the strikes or submission attempts and yet the Bell goes and after two rounds it’s like Fodor melan Eno’s been doing whatever he wants to do at will and nogara is still taxing the runway Randy i f with crocop it was more that noera made a little bit of an adjustment he was trying to stay away from crocop and take him down and it wasn’t until he actually stepped in and engaged Crow cop that he was able to get the shot off Y and and he’s just not able to even catch up with Fedor in this fight to get that shot off you know and looking at the replays right now you guys it seemed that noera has a better setup with the combination and misses and it’s like a million ano and just reacting is able to still connect and do damage so all right we are going into the third and final round this is the championship round two titles at stake the 2004 tournament championship and the pride World Heavyweight Championship and they start in a flurry very nice trip dig down there yeah I I thought it looked like noer was maybe going to step it up a notch Andor decided to [Music] answer these are two pretty incredible athletes right here these guys no doubt about that and uh with the final five minutes now upon us it’s going to come down to who wants those championships more and really you talk about money you can talk about the fame but really when it comes to being an MMA fighter in Randy Couture you know it as good as anybody it really is about just you know being the best that you can be for yourself but also for your peers and that belt has to mean everything it definitely means a lot and and that’s the thing I think you share it with a lot of people because you don’t do this by yourself there’s a lot of guys that help these two right here get ready for this fight and here really trying to open up on the bottom and find some way to get the Fedor just steps out let’s just walk away from it that was the closest we’ve seen to noera being dangerous so far in this matchup he kind of went to a normal Pata there and almost had it I think I just stand up yeah walk away because my mother always said if they were to fight you have to walk away yeah you know if is going to win this fight which it looks like oh nice right hand by no there and there goes for the shoot but look at amelon enko the positioning ends up in the butterfly no it’s the open guard now into the Clos guard but you’re right a nice right hand by noar look who ends up on top but you know what if he wins cro up would be a phenomenal match up both great Strikers or Mark hunt very good too but I would like to see a striker against t after what we’ve seen so far tonight at Shockwave there is an embarrassment of riches when it comes to intriguing matchups to come out of tonight’s event for the for the upcoming shows in 2005 I mean vanderlay Silva going down to defeat for the first time uh you talk about miraco crocop emerging victorious in his rematch with Kevin randan but here we have two Champions unifying The Pride World Heavyweight Championship and now they’re turning oh nice knee by F and I think M croop’s got to be sitting on the sidelines here oh that guy’s not just going to punch he’s got some take down abilities as well yeah you saw him there momentarily in the shot at R side definitely there he is [Music] watching take down by Body lock you never heard of him in the GRE or Roman world yeah where’s he been yeah we go he’s got to go fast now no if he wants to win this fight and he’s got to look for submission he’s doing right now but I bet you F’s going to sit up straight while he goes right step out of this and credit noera for the Never Say Die attitude he knows what it’s at stake he has the heart of a champion but it’s Amano like a runaway train just constantly coming back atam no now looking for an escape here and probably trying to secure the left arm ailon enko yes there it is looking for same same as she did in the first time they exactly power out of it and really now with the final few minutes you guys he’s not going to knock up a million that’s a given he has to go and try to submit oh a right hand and a left and look at him he’s still standing and another left those just left straight on those are Sledgehammer left hands being delivered by Fodor a million anle Bo wow and let’s throw him again oh you are seeing two Champions going right down to the wire in Fodor Milano and Antonio hrio noera giving it all they’ve got a little fatigue now a knee by noera an amazing Pace this fight like lightweights almost how many times you going to take a 230 lb guy and swing him to the m and now look at that yeah it’s going to be the end of the round right hand now and there it is the end of the fight it was a struggle wow for noger fodora mileno but again like you guys said for the heavyweights they went at it to the nail what a [Music] [Applause] pace unanimous decision for Fedor as we suspected needless to say a unanimous decision for Fedor [Music] Eno MMA is such a big part of our lives that Selena doesn’t generally watch but she’s at home right now glued to the TV John she text me said I got to watch this one got to do it Dustin porier in the black trunks Justin gatei is in blue and one of our producers picked up on some buzzwords in the poier locker room as he was getting ready to come out as he lands a left and a right smother and pressure the buzzwords coming out of the poier corner before they came up already like three or four inside leg kicks though man he’s got to check him he’s got to at least punch catch one and take him down something every time he gets kicked in the legs he’s got to answer to those leg kicks gaii said it would be hard for poier to be patient with me in his face all night poier just misses on the uppercut there gatei has to be one of the best leg kickers MMA has ever seen I’m not saying in MMA right now he’s got to be one of the best leg kickers MMA has ever seen nice straight right lands for Justin gatei G is already cut doesn’t care though still pressuring forward trying to get past that jab withier watch the counter right hook of poier that’s going to be one of his best weapons he steps out and hits that counter right hook not a great location for that cut appears to be bothering gatei a little bit the inside kicks killing Po’s leg though see right if he does not start checking that he’s going to have no power in his left hand or his jab gatei likes to fight on the inside borer is better at range but at range is where gatei can land those kicks he’s crowding Po’s power he’s keeping him so stuff that he can’t get gatei at the end of his punches and so he’s crowding his power oh nice combination my poier nice long combination was blocked but a nice long combination good jab by gate both guys landing at a 62% clip here through two minutes eyes starting to shut down for gatei that that left eye is going to get shut he’s not careful he’s got to protect it just Dustin’s already starting to move a little gingerly on that front leg yep it hurts he can’t take many more of those kicks and starting to pick apart now is head’s getting open because he’s worried about the leg kicks that’s what gatei does he chops your legs you’re so worried about Defending Your Legs you leave your head open and get knocked out big deep breath from porier I mean the pace that Justin gate makes you fight out is crazy he wants to keep punching him so that you get tired that’s what he wants he’s he’s hoping poier keeps punching himself out like this at his guard poier is doing a good job of returning when he’s getting kicked but he’s got to defend or check these leg kicks and at least in the early going porier willing to fight at Justin Gate’s preferred pace and he just looked at the clock 2 minutes in well certainly Dustin has earned Gate’s respect you saw how quickly he covered up porier doing a good job staying heavy on the offense though he’s Landing right back he’s not stepping back and just eating shots he’s Landing back with gaii this is what we expected these guys fighting in a phone boo Y forier is going to have to get some respect and get Justin moving back a little bit oh oh yeah that was heavy or go to the body that’s why Alvarez had so much success going to the body G has absorbed a lot of significant strikes here early 38 to the Head already for porier under 90 seconds round one little slip there by [Applause] gatei porier starting to settle in a little bit rips the body effectively yet again there one of the bigger issues with being able to hit somebody is that you fall in love with it you realize that they’re there to be hit so you start throwing everything with absolute power you got to stay within yourself if you’re Dustin porier when you’re Landing this many strikes on Justin gatei cuz he’s going to be here he’s going to be here for a while he’s not going out one punch most time and he tries to pressure you so if you do punch it’s not as powerful as you want because he crowds you so you can’t extend your arms out that was a heavy hook though that the cor just landed nice left hook around the ear of gaii is popping the leg kicks are adding up for gatei though that’s it’s going to really pay dividends in the second round G can survive I mean we got 30 seconds left and Gate’s eating some shots porier is big and powerful at 155 lbs and of course G doesn’t cut a lot of weight to make this 156 PB limit no he said that the only year he allamerican in wrestle was the year that he just didn’t cut any weight right so he’s taken that approach in his Mixed Martial Art’s career too yep he said that the guys that are cutting weight fade as he puts the pressure on him that’s what he’s counting on saying I’m going to chop his leg down and tire him out because he’s cutting weight I’m not I’ll have energy in third fourth fifth rounds and he’ll be done and chop down big hook landed there for gatei in that exchange great first round great first round exactly what we expected boom inside leg kick by Justin gaii over and over boom inside leg kick you cannot take leg kick for 25 minutes now Dustin por you had a lot of of success whenever he was in the pocket here very interesting to watch them go back and forth Whitman thought gatei won that first round but he said don’t worry about banking rounds just go beat this kid up round two underway now the best coaches in the game don’t just give good advice they they get their fighter hyped up and ready to win when they’re in the most pain and they they’re doubting themselves the most they know how to trigger their brain and get him to kill and gatei said oh what what happened who won that round and he says who cares about rounds you’re going to break him anyway he says you’re right and here we are right now and he’s coming heavy with pressure but don’t forget Dustin Pier’s leg is hurting bad well we saw a few fights ago Jim Miller beat up the lower half of Pier’s leg Dustin was able to win that fight by majority decision but gatei certainly attacking the upper portion the inside of that lead leg on the Southpaw Dustin porier I thought both guys found success in that round gatei did a lot of good work with those leg kicks but also porier did good work with his boxing jab of Gate’s Landing a lot as well he’s using using that jab very effective starting to faint now nice level change by poier and that’s that leg that leg’s hurt oh yeah big shot land for both guys stop stop Dustin porier dealing with an eye poke we’ll see if we can take a look at it porier seems ready this you’ve been keeping your hands open a lot you got to you got to keep your hands up was right in the eye pretty St warning there from Herb Dean yeah cuz eye pokes will take your whole eye out one eye poke the fight could be over it could be really bad you got to be careful with those pokes you need a second to clear your vision oh right in the eye to a leg kick and then you got to take the leg kick too you know your legs already kind of beat up you get poked in the eye you got to take an extra leg kick what a pain I’m going to have the doctor look at it come on how you have the doctor look at it want to and now you’re giving Judson gaii a rest from the beating and right pressure and now he can pressure even more than he did in the first place I think that porier should have kept on the kept going well and I think that’s what Dustin said I don’t want to bring in the doctor I don’t want to give gaii a break but G you give gaii a break that’s the last thing you want to do you got to hope that the damage accumulates on him but if you give him a rest he gets rest from his from the beating he’s taken two looked like maybe gatei just got warned again a little softer that time by her Dean G can throw oh nice combination by porier and he he ate it and then threw a hook and landed his own hook in P in in gaii I think that’s his best strike I think that’s gai’s best punch is the left hook okay this legendary chin of Justin gatei has been tested tonight it is held up through the fight’s first seven minutes gatei with a glancing left able to land oh oh wow both Fighters Landing in the pocket I mean it’s crazy watching Justin Gatey fight because this is the way to fight goes every single time they wonder why he’s been in the UFC for three fights and he’s had two main events already because if you want good fights you stick gatei in there first UFC fight was the main event yeah and you put him in there with guys like Dustin porier Eddie alz and Michael Johnson it’s only the second round and por is starting to look a little bit weathered he’s on his back heel he’s doing doing good with his jab he’s ripping the body well but that leg hurts and you can see gatei just kind of getting him to step back and he kind of looks at him like stop kicking me stop he’s going to need him to switch DUS for you has got to switch stances oh he’s got to switch stances that leg nice combination combination by porier very nice he’s landed four or five punches in a row and gatei just eats him you got to go to the body if you’re fighting Justin gat you got to go to the body I think that’s why Eddie Alvarez did so well he invested in the body early gaii could take damage to the head cuz it hurts but if you take away the air out of his lungs that’s the one way you got to fight gaii and for the first time in the fight poier thought there briefly about a strategy change unable to take G down on that attempt porier seems to be moving okay but some significant swelling in it around that right knee nice combination he’s just touch touch touch and then power at the end there he is there goes the switch fighting conventional a little bit po inside of his thigh his knee is just super swollen his right leg is the inside of his leg is just swollen not only will this affect his ability to stand but he can’t really set down on his punches and he won’t generate the power that he normally generates because he can’t really get heavy on his leg and por is landing more at a higher percentage for sure 65% for Dustin porier as we approach the one minute Mark here in round two of a possible five I mean through two rounds Dustin porier has over 120 punches landed 120 strikes landed it’s a crazy Pace it’s unbelievable that these guys have to fight 25 minutes he has to go to the body more on Gate’s only head hunting and that’s a problem right hand lands flush over the top for porier Gate’s body shots are those leg kicks man that’s his investment his investment is in the leg kicks that’s how he slows these guys down and he breaks them [Applause] down oh nice single leg by porier can he finish this that would be a no oh good elbow right there good elbow by gatei oh nice now gatei with some uppercuts here in the clinch kicks up top for gaii oh this is exactly what you want in that third period of a wrestling match and G is running back to the center of the map and porier is looking at it like stop running and these guys are about to meet in the middle and see in this third round let’s see what what this is made of what a show all of these Fighters have put on here in Glendale Arizona tonight round three of a possible five here this is a big round for Dustin porier in terms of him having to dig deep to stay in this fight Justin gatei has some momentum looking at the posture of porier going back to his his seat it wasn’t encouraging if your team Dustin it’s interesting is porier took all the damage to the leg gatei took all the damage to the head and it looks like the leg damage hurt more than the head damage somehow well it usually does right it usually does especially with a guy like Justin Gatey who’s so good at kicking your legs and the cut on the eye of porier happened very quick at the end of that round he was fine and all of a sudden he’s got this this nasty cut on the left eye and he still hasn’t taken one shot yet and porier said he didn’t necessarily fear the one punch knockout power of Justin gaii but he breaks a lot of guys who say I’ve had enough this guy’s a maniac yes and gatei at his mancal best here tonight under four minutes now round three nicely time take down but it’s so frustrating when you take somebody down and poier wanted just one second to breathe on top of him and he gets right back up nice body shot by por Dustin keeps pwing at that eye gatei keeps just touching oh that kick he waits for the left hand por and he fires that inside kick every time and then he just turns the knee out to check right every time Dustin tries to return with a kick he just turns it out to check forier is not seeing that inside leg kick they’re both tired oh oh those reactors are getting getting bigger and bigger [Applause] yeah well a lot of people didn’t think we would get to the three-minute mark of round three both guys have had their moments He Slipped the jab and came over with the two and you saw P go whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa what was that he’s hurt big elbow hurt yep he’s stuck on the fence and now he’s hoping he wants to wrestle he’s got to take time he’s got to back up and find some space you can’t try to go head first in here you got to grab Justin gatei is too smart he’s going to pick his shot he won’t wait ener and go crazy he’s going to start hanging on the head elbow and uppercut from here make it dirty keep going to the legs with the knees this is good for Dustin poro being in the clinch being able to hold and try to catch his breath knock the cobwebs off Glendale crowd getting behind one of their own Justin gatei who has started to take control of this third round poier recognizes that the pace was going to be high he recognized that at times Justin gatei will break you that’s his intent is to break you but at this point right now there isn’t much he can do about it see gatei just heads him off every time you see poier circle out and then gatei walks in front of him again and again he doesn’t follow him at all he always heads you off and keeps you in a box and you saw porier move that right leg back just the thought of eating another one and there goes gatei again perhaps doore getting a second win here he’s in great shape he came in shape with this fight he hasn’t stopped either he’s fighting his hard out right now G’s Just Landing a little heavier shots to those legs and that’s why you’re seeing such an effect on porier it’s the leg shots the crazy thing is we talked about the Eddie Alvarez fight but that was only three rounds I mean these guys have to do this for two more rounds if we get to the corners big deep breath from gatei you’re talking about two of the toughest fighters on this roster top to bottom putting on an absolute show tonight porier now and Dustin porier is landing strikes and shots of his own it’s just that right now he’s wearing the fight on his face and in his reactions a little bit more than Justin Gaton and Trevor Whitman to our immediate right he’s been smiling the whole time under a minute to go round three the leg kicks for gatei 73% on 51 attempts Trevor smiling me this is what he sees every day right he knows ultimately what the ending of this type of fight usually is for Justin [Applause] gatei and if you’re Dustin porier right now is not the time to be throwing everything with 100% power o he’s another eye poke there he may take a point here that’s a big break for Dustin porier not really because right now DC you start feeling that you start taking an assessment of your body and how you feel G is getting a break what’s porier thinking right now is he thinking my eye hurts or is he thinking my leg hurts time he’s taking a [Music] point looks like herbs going to take a point here that’s a big deal you want to see the doctor good F huh wasn’t with the other eye no this one again this one the same [Applause] [Applause] one well the crowd doesn’t like it but DC you don’t seem to like it either there was a Stern warning earlier Herb Dean decides to take a point here you have to right if you’re following the rules you get a Stern warning and then a point is taken well that has Insight of the masses in support of Justin gaii gai’s pretty angry about that let’s see what he does about it still mad mad at himself I know no no I saw I watched [Applause] it I can see out everybody is it getting better if we take the full five minutes he’ be good I’m okay okay that’s F we’ll take one final look at it here he got him in both eyes yeah looked like maybe the other eye but here we go final seconds of round three and that point deduction could end up huge if we do go the distance tonight Justin gatei has really good footwork he does not Chase his opponents [Music] ever look like a poier I poke at the end of the round [Applause] now up so here we go with round four got to go got to go and potentially a third round there Dom for Justin gatei would have gone into the books as a 99 with a point deduction yeah you don’t know what that’s going to do to the decision but I mean right now I think gai’s ahead pretty well so we’ll see what happens but now Po’s got one eye poke too so if he pokes gatei back in the eye a second time it could be even on the scorecards with that point deducted from por to well for Justin gatei despite the fact that he has a lot of experience in five round fights this the first time he seen a fourth big left hand lands by porier he’s looking for the finish here gaty hurt Gate’s hurt bad but he’s been here before gaii nearly out on his feet porier continues to land but he doesn’t have the war on the clintz DUS goodness knock out oh my gosh he does it he does not big punch a fight for the ages and Glendale goes to the louisian Dustin porier this one landed clean and right here Justin gatei an All-American wrestler never tried to clinch never tried to shoot a double leg he did not have the understanding that I am hurt I need to grab this guy he stayed with what he has always done and tried to brawl and porier is too smart too sharp too accurate and found the kill shot great finish by Dustin porier ladies and gentlemen referee herd Dean has called a stop to this contest at 33 seconds of round number four declaring the winner by TKO Dustin the Diamond [Applause] Warrior here we go the champion in the black the Challenger in the [Applause] blue [Applause] nunz utilizing that reach early mixing things up oh she tagged her she tagged her again she hurt [Applause] her nunz with a big right hand Mike and again she hurt her again ronda’s in trouble nun she’s in trouble Mike over the top big trouble can’t she finish it right here right now she shot her to the body Ronda is in big trouble Mike nunes’s hands are down and she’s walking Rhonda down she tags her again over and over Amanda [Applause] Nunes big comination it’s in it’s in all over just like that wow wow Flawless performance by Amanda nunz stunning devastating Victory by [Applause] Nunes wow she lit Rhonda up like a Christmas [Applause] tree you see Amanda moves in cranks off that right hand boom boom the right hand to the ear steps in with a jab boom catches it with that left hook right hand again right hand again Amanda Nunes just completely smashed Rhonda one two one two I mean merciful Rescue by Herb Dean stunning performance by the [Applause] champion Amanda Nunes destroys Ronda Rousey and defends her belt for the very first [Applause] time that young Brazilian Superstar May hold on to that belt for a very very long time ladies and gentlemen referee her Dean has called a stop to this contest at 40 8 Seconds of the very first round declaring the winner by [Music] TKO still the Undisputed UFC bantamweight champion of the world Amanda the [Music] [Applause] lion taking on that man 21-year old Max Holloway and it’ll be interesting to see how Holloway responds to the pressure fighter and it’s McGregor Landing [Applause] early wow throwing a lot of WI Wild’s tough right [Applause] away he spent a lot of time in Iceland training with gunar Nelson and he he has a very similar style stance gunar who’s a brilliant brilliant Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioner but started off as a karate stylist oh look at that front leg hook kick where do you see that very rare and that’s uh one of the things that you’re seeing in Connor is this karate style stance that’s very unpredictable along with a background in amateur boxing he was a national amateur boxing champion and very much as you say shades of Gunner Nelson but just a great fluidity with Conor McGregor and he continues to land upstairs on Max hollowood and that unpredictable nature of his attack makes Max hesitant he doesn’t know what’s coming it could be a front leg hook kick it could be a front hand uppercut a lot of wild unorthodox open openings good sweep uh good uh switch kick by Max there and that will certainly help [Applause] him those legs are wide The Stance is wide and if Max attacks those legs they’ll be there for him another thing to take into account is Max is very good on the ground and Conor’s two losses have come by submission look at this wild stuff jumping switch kick that front leg hook kick although you never see it in MMA you rarely even see it in kickboxing there was a man named Larry Kelly out of Massachusetts back in the day with knock people unconscious with a front leg hook kick it was legendary Bill superfoot Wallace another one famous kickboxer had a dynamic front leg hook kick and it’s interesting to see Conor McGregor utilizing that technique it is hard to simulate this type of pressure in training too yeah that jumping switch kick is very unique too and he throws with no wind up you see he’s throwing these kicks there’s no switch there’s no step before he throws them very much karate style and you know Max Holloway came into this fight in terms of strikes landed per minute second only to our UFC heavyweight champion Cain Vasquez in UFC history but KY McGregor getting off early and often here as we pass the midpoint of round one that just shows you what a freak came Vasquez is that 1405 5B guy and him have a similar output ratio you see way he’s throwing that kick that’s very much karate style and he follows it up with a straight left hand and Max looks a little bewildered there taking some hard shots that’s a nice switch that would definitely help him more the more of those he can get off the better slow down the movement and take away from the spring of Conor’s attack because it’s one of the things that Connor likes to do like that that jumping switch so few guys do that Shogun used to do that a little bit in his younger days but it’s just such a it’s an unusual technique as is that front leg hook kick there it is again field kick to the legs Andy hook style and you see the kicks and knees landed starting to pile up for the Irishman Conor McGregor and uses that lead hand too to sort of paw and control his opponent and hands down I mean look where his hand positioning is he’s telling him to hit him go ahead hit me oh high kick beautiful uppercup good right hand over the top by Max Max needs to get Conor’s respect and right now he’s just a little confused by all the offense that Conor’s throwing his way he’s trying to wheel kick himself but Conor saw it coming and stepped with [Applause] it Conor with the front leg Sid kick to the [Applause] thigh Max Holloway growing up in a small town in aahu Hawaii certainly no shortage of mental toughness and he’s hanging in there he got clipped that was a a strong straight left there by [Applause] Conor Conor’s just so relaxed in there I mean it’s amazing this is his second UFC fight very high profile look how C he is in there he believes he’s immune to pressure and that is certainly head kick Max is in all sorts of trouble here so Conor McGregor doing what he does through five minutes here against Max hollowood so just the Way Conor McGregor drew it up through five minutes here and as he said to John Kavanaugh in between rounds not fatigued whatsoever these are two conditioned featherweights here on display tonight he consistently does that jumping switch technique where he lifts up his right leg and then kicks with the left oh good straight left by Connor and Max Holloway’s Corner imploring him to attack that leg and to follow it up with a straight right to move back and counter McGregor and get his respect and I think that’s imperative at this point for Max [Applause] Holloway a lot of people have suggested Conor McGregor could be very successful in boxing and then you see the kicking Acumen just an absolute pleasure to watch on display [Applause] here what’s also excellent about the way he fights his his his recognition of distance where he’s in trouble where he’s not and where he can land and where his opponent can’t like asess Max moves in you see he’s really not there for him but Max is a little bit more befuddled and that’s the the much higher Landing ratio that McGregor showing show you the total strikes to this point in the fight McGregor 3 to1 in terms of the ratio outlanding Max Holloway and really uses that lead hand as a rangefinder and not so much a jet you know you can call it three to one but it’s it’s even more significant than that because it’s the only real hard strikes are being landed by Connor right so although Max has landed a few shots here and there they’ve been glancing blows and there you see that straight left by Connor I mean I don’t know how many of these Max can continue to take you’re seeing a lot of swelling in his face and Connor is just getting loose there was a good right hand there by Max but he did it as he was moving he didn’t plant his feet and there he did but he got [Applause] countered now he’s digging his toes up yep and that’s what what Max has got to do got to got to land something significant he’s got to take away some of the confidence of Conor and he’s got to try to hurt him very little wasted motion for Conor McGregor and you see that nice uppercut on the inside [Applause] there now he’s mixing up his Tempo look how he’s sort of slow baiting him there with like half speed techniques and a nice left hand there the crowd responds after that Holloway land yeah he’s getting he’s getting used to doing that same technique over again that hop up with the right leg and throw the left kick and that time Max saw it coming here’s that good straight left again and good footwork as well sliding to the side after he lands it here he caught that kick took him down let’s see his ground game now and Max Holloway has a very good guard let’s see if he attacks off of his back or if he just tries to hold Conor Conor trying to step over that right leg of Max Holloway right now he’s in guard and he would like to get into a dominant position wants to try to step over that leg and then free his right leg as well so he keeps trying to lift that leg up Max recognizes it closes off his full guard now Max is also doing a real good job with his left arm note how he’s clamping down on the back of the neck of Connor has to keep Connor from posturing up if Conor can lift his body up and straighten up then he can generate power into his strikes as long as Max is holding on to his neck he’s fairly safe in this position but here he’s not now he’s not now he’s in trouble and now he’s got to use his legs and push Connor off of him and make sure that Connor can’t get comfortable enough to land hard blows now he’s controlling him again so far good defense by Max clamping down on the right arm of McGregor with an overhook full guard here and then closes off on his neck with his right arm good defense right now for max they’re talking to each other I don’t know what what they’re saying but yeah I’m sure Conor McGregor is very well skilled in psychological warfare as well continues to keep that pressure on Joe but good guard by Max no so far okay now Conor sliced through it nicely done nicely done Max recovered a bit of a a quarter guard not really quite a half guard but he’s just basically got his legs wrapped around the ankle which is fairly easy to free up now it’s simp almost almost half guard he’s going to if he wants to scoot out and kick off with his right leg he should be free and he is back to half guard or back excuse me back to side control so the first eight minutes of this one we were upright now Conor McGregor showing off the ground game here towards the end of round two all Conor McGregor to this point of the fight now Max Holloway is wearing it as we get ready for our third and final round we’re seeing a lot more of Conor McGregor obviously after just a 67 second win in his UFC [Applause] debut there’s switching it up with front leg Sidekicks Max trying to counter with his kick good right hand by [Applause] Max and if you’re Max Hollow Joe I mean what is the strategy in trying to sort of stem the tide here and mute this offense of Conor McGregor well I mean I think that what he’s got to do is somehow or another get Conor’s respect he’s got to land something or he’s got to attempt a submission lock something up he’s got to do something offensively and so far he hasn’t really been able to generate any offense and because of Conor’s unusual attacks it really it started off very badly for him so the momentum went immediately to Conor’s side and he’s never been able to get it back and now Connor goes to side control and almost mounts him but a beautiful guard pass by McGregor he’s concentrating on the left arm but he’s also the way he’s wrapping his left arm around the neck of Max Holloway makes me think that he might be thinking about choking him as [Applause] well or he might just move to a mounted crucifix and try to pound him out here I think that’s what he’s going to try to do no mounts he’s going to mount him yep not quite looks like the left leg is still trapped Max is a very tricky guard very good defensively off his back and Connor’s left leg is almost now he’s free and now Max rolls him over and Max is out nicely done by Max beautiful taked down by McGregor but in the half guard for Max Max has done a really good job at not allowing McGregor to get the full Mount and regaining guard good defensive guard but very little offense here like in this position he’s got his right arm around McGregor’s head but he’s not even attempting for a guillotine not even trying to threaten it a scary proposition to think of Conor McGregor as he continues to work on that offensive Jiu-Jitsu game a Brazilian jiu-jitsu purple belt full out now he’s got him and the reason why he got that is because he secured the head and arm and by doing that and holding on to his his arms in that position he forced Max into a position where Max couldn’t put his hands on his hips now Conor has full guard Max is trying to utilize his legs and separate the feet of Connor and maybe shift his hips and get it back to some sort of a half guard or perhaps full guard again but Max is he’s being controlled here totally by Conor McGregor but McGregor not generating anything offensive here just holding on to him slapping him a little bit putting weight on that melon two minutes to go in our third and final round and you see in this third round almost half the round Conor McGregor has been in top position he’s not doing anything offensively from here though now he is he’s moving now Max is Shifting now he’s getting some ground and pound in now he’s got the back hard shots by McGregor from the top boy that left arm is a gift wrap right there he can just take that arm if he wants to hook it and go he doesn’t want to though he wants to hold the position and keep ground and pounding him and he shifts back to Mount Big Shots by McGregor Max wraps his arms around him try to keep Connor from posturing up Max may try to scoot out the back door if he can make a bit of an explosion and perhaps underhook one of those legs he’s got to do something to get out of this mount he now here’s shifting he’s shifting he’s out nicely done by Max Holloway and as he gets up he’s greeted by a knee from Conor McGregor so we are upright again head kick look at this Max is going for [Applause] it McGregor turns the corner takes him down again very nice so Conor McGregor continues to score you got to respect the effort of Max Holloway here hasn’t given up but easier said than done when you have a guy like Conor McGregor doing with you what he wants to do here through much of the fight well especially the first round was an absolutely brilliant performance by McGregor the second and third have been less devastating but still [Applause] dominant so the crowd responding here down the stretch Conor McGregor with a dominant performance performance here tonight in Boston against Max Holloway ladies and gentlemen after three rounds we go to the judges scorecards for a decision the judges scor the contest 3027 3027 and 3026 declaring the winner by unanimous decision the notorious P [Applause] McGregor [Music] Anthony pentis and the champion smooth Ben Henderson finally it is on Anthony Pettis does not want to touch gloves no love loss between these two like you said Henderson goes in with no chip on his shoulder so relx and Pettis kind of does he’s got something to prove he’s going to show the world you know you could go down your checklist of fighter attributes and who youd give the edge to and I think at the end of that scorecard you’d be almost dead even yeah you would I mean uh the one guy strengths they kind of even out boun all the guy’s weaknesses very very evenly matched fight when you break everything down and put everything together and really the big question there’s Henderson taking a little page out of Pettis his book right there showing him hey I got a black belt in Taekwondo as well it’s very interesting to see who’s going to have the advantage in wrestling we all thought Shane roller did in the last fight and he didn’t and on paper you think Henderson should we’ll [Applause] see ptis answers back with a front jump roundhouse of his own just so quick and unorthodox and Ben Henderson though so extremely durable oh yeah he is we seen him in full on triangles and arm bars and chokes and and how is his arm broken how is he not sleeping and he just it’s unbelievable how he could avoid submissions and just keep fighting through things and when he gets that guillotina on you like people tap so fast extremely powerful CHS he has guys kind of find in the range that is being patient trying to set up something big this one scheduled for five rounds remember the winner tonight retires the wec belt and a unification is on and it’s Ben Henderson getting the clinch first after a lethal combination as he comes forward yeah finally got aggressive there let his hands go got the double uh double unders on ptis and is not letting go looking to take this fight to the ground early a lot of Fighters underestimate the strength of Ben Henderson his easy demeanor but boy he is such a strong athlete when he gets into this clinch very strong and and he he sustains that strength you know it’s not something that drops off and he goes at such a Relentless Pace too you think he’s going to fatigue a little but he’s able to keep this up for 25 minutes straight As we saw before against cowboy Cerrone softening up the legs of Anthony Pettis just holds him there in the clinch and look at Pettis figing like he’s yawning this is nothing I I think I remember seeing that from Ali back in the day in between rounds he’s doing it during the round but there it goes inside trip Tak down and Pettis is on his [Applause] back yeah that’s such a deceptive take down you get the double unders you try winging the guy around from side to side he defends it well and then when he leasts expected he just push forward dig that leg on the inside trip him back to his back and Pettis doing a great job there before Henderson can suck his hips away from the cage he slides his back up against it yeah he’s already got his back he’s already in the position to stand back up stay and relax [Applause] the face of Ben Henderson oh armar attempt Henderson sees nothing to it don’t forget that htis has got a great triangle tapped out a lot of top fighters with that triangle but like I said before something’s crazy with the arteries in Hon’s neck it’s like choke how close to the TV screen do you think Frankie Edgar and GRE Maynard are are they just thinking about their fight on January 1st oh I’m sure they’re watching this intely for sure big attention there’s those kicks from ptis he so Dynamic so powerful one minute to go here in round number one this one scheduled for five for the lightweight [Music] belt this is usually where Anthony Pettis likes to strike a in the action yeah he’s he’s the type of guy that like every strike has a purpose he’s really relaxed and he sets you up for the big one he doesn’t waste a lot of energy he doesn’t throw tons of strikes but he’s so good at set you up with the knockout sh beautiful front kick that then fakes like the front kick goes upstairs with the roundhouse just a little high skins ahead of Henderson oh good counter HIIT there that seem to hurt Henderson a little bit drops out for the single legegg looking the Finish good hips there by ptis looks like uh he’s got him up against the cage and he’ll be able to suck him out here and he does another taked down by Ben Henderson final 10 seconds here of round number one we will see a second round in Glendale Arizona when we return to jobbing.com Arena after this short [Music] break the wec lightweight belt on the line from jobing.com arena in Glendale Arizona Anthony Pettis the Challenger in the white trunks the champion smooth Ben Henderson in the black trunks tough for round to call Stephan Bonner I mean it really is you know the main difference is probably the takedowns by Henderson but Pettis I mean avoided any damage uh really played a good game shot a good trying was able to stand back up after the first one so very close round good a good job by both Fighters really avoiding any really damaging punishment in that round although they they both put out some good offense as well oh big right hand and Pettis now takes the back just like that see the fight could be over at any second like that that sets up his strikes and did you see Henderson immediately protect his throat thinking that Pettis was going to take the back and go for the choke looks like uh slows the pace downon has actually got a come here good job by ptis putting him down on his back and now p is turning it around has a ker of his own sheez just Twisted that arm behind Henderson’s back we’ve seen that before from Ben Henderson the guy is absolutely gumy absolutely gumy like double Ching every joint in his body Plus his arteries are deep in his neck pretty submit again great action here in round number two remember this one is a five round Affair for the lightweight belt in the wec and then the unification is on following the Frankie Edgar grey mayor bout UFC January [Applause] 1st 21 Pace slows just a little bit keep your eye on Anthony Pettis in the white trunks looking for something to launch against the Champion Ben Henderson from this angle it looked like it was a right hand that dropped Henderson but I guess on looking at the replay actually stepped on his foot and kind of fell and the punch didn’t really connect so that one sure [Applause] did the big left just missing from Ben Henderson then he goes the attack and grabs the single and that’s what he does so well mixing up that strike and grappling try to get you in exchange dropping down for shot you sprawl pop back up get more punches off and back in on your legs Ben Henderson so smooth in the transition you got good work man make him work you know and this is more Henderson’s fight too here on the inside in the clinch you know hend Pettis has got to use that range you know once he’s on the outside then we’re going to see some more of that V striking Anthony Pettis looking for range looking for distance to do something spectacular and come in and try to end the reign of Ben Henderson the champion in the black trunks you got to respect the the punch power of Ben Henderson he’s not all about Muay Tha and tawon do no he has great power in his hands and pretty good kicker as well and now it looks like P is stuck and kind of control the center of the rage looking the setup that big St beautiful body kick by Henderson would you say that this pace would favor a Ben Henderson well they’re not really at that Reckless Pace I mean that’s not Pettis game he he makes every strike count he really tries to set you up for the big one so you know I think getting the faster more torid Pace favor Ben Henderson as we approach the final minute here of round number two this one’s scheduled for five for the lightweight belt of the wec in an inverted low kick Ben Henderson says I’m fine her Dean our referee says he can have up to five minutes then shakes it [Music] [Music] off both Fighters just step just so crisp with the Striking you know you see a fight like this what slows down it’s well they’re so equally matched I mean it’s no one has a real major advantage and really good reaction there I mean uh that the timing’s good for both of them you just saw Henderson throw a high kick and a beautiful counter Pettis went underneath and kick the leg that Henderson was standing on but Henderson’s got some thighs on him usually that takes a guy’s legs out causes him to fall down but not with best this is one of those fights that’s been a year in the making as both of these men climb the mountain Henderson the defending champion and Pettis has had his eyes squarely on this belt as we go under 10 seconds here in round number two so we will see a third round from Glendale when we return to versus back in Glendale Arizona jobing.com arena alongside Stephan Bon I’m Todd Harris as we prepare to turn the page on the we and roll into the UFC this for the lightweight bout your champion in the black trunks is Ben Henderson going up against a very talented Challenger Anthony Pettis in the white Trunks and we got a really close fight on our hands I mean you can’t take my word for it but my guess is that the judges G bend the first round and Pettis the second round one of these men will retire that UFC belt and then they will get a shot at the UFC belt to unify them that coming after the Frankie Edgar and gray mayard bout coming up January 1st UFC from Las Vegas once again Pettis doing the stalking let’s see if Ben comes forward a little more even his Corner said you know that R was really close only because you were backing up a little too much ill intentions on that straight right from Ben Henderson he really loaded up on that punch and had us with the take down Henderson continues to work throwing the elbows into the th car going to the full Mount get in the back of Henderson Henderson giving up the back to Anthony Pettis a dangerous place to be Henderson trying to protect that choke to stand up good job of cradel and see how uh Pettis locked his hands there it’s an excellent defensive void getting shaken off the top when he got someone’s back the Ben’s so flexible just seems like you can sit in this position all day and just slowly start to sh which fighter those Stephen is exerting the most energy in this position I don’t know but I mean uh it takes a lot of strength to hold on like that but also takes a lot of strength from Benda to carry someone on your back you know all someone’s weight on your back he’s got 155 pound backpack right now and Ben Henderson looking for a way out of this probably a little more than 155 today that’s the official way [Applause] [Music] in Henderson looking for a way to scrape Pettis off his back Pettis looks like he can stay there for a long time he’s got the body triangle on that makes it a little easier to hold that position this is like getting a 30 second breather in the middle of the round for Pettis absolutely he’s just hanging on Ben Henderson looking for way as the crowd comes alive that is doing a good job not letting go of that arm of uh uptis S Henderson doing a good job all right out of stalemate here if you’re Ben Henderson’s Corner what are you telling him to keep control of that over arm you know the the arm over your shoulders the one that could choke you as long as he controls that he’s not going to be able to get choke he is going to take some rocky bboa like shots to the ribs right now from Anthony Pettis and it looks like the champ Ben Henderson just cannot figure out this puzzle yeah pet is just walloping the body of Ben Henderson right now and yeah a bit of a stalemate here Henderson can’t give up that arm and he really can’t shake him with a body triangle so he’s just got to kind of sit here and wait it out maybe hopefully get a break from the referee 90 seconds to go here in round three this one scheduled for five for the lightweight belt but again Henderson just being very tranquil and patient you know if he does something stupid now if he really tries to force himself out or slam Pettis it could cost him the fight and he’s not about to do that he knows he has uh two more rounds to work after this well you look at the thighs of Ben Henderson he has got world class cycling thighs and strength there but again you make a great point he is carrying the full weight of Anthony Pettis right now yeah he is and Pettis Relentless going for that [Music] neck 45 seconds left here in the third round all Anthony Pettis right in the back of Ben Henderson smashing those ribs with his fist looking for that rear naked [Applause] choke and now it’s Henderson teing off on theah Pettis and he’s found a way is this the way he’s going to get rid of Anthony Pettis oh he better to watch out for that neck the final 20 seconds of round three were scheduled for five it looks like he’s going to make it out of this round make it out of danger and get the start back on his feet in 10 more seconds and that’s it he breaks it and we will see another round here in Glendale it’s a classic this is the lightweight title about the main event of the night Ben Henderson your champion in the black trunks Anthony Pettis the Challenger in the white Trunks and a great shot from both Fighters yeah both guys landed right there and you got to think you got to wonder if that uh you know right in a guy’s back like that with a body strangle you still got to be squeezing with your thighs to hold yourself there if that if that took a toll on Anthony’s thighs if that’s going to affect his speed footwork will s this is the fourth round we are scheduled for five oh Henderson with a vicious body kick there all [Music] [Applause] [Music] Shin now it’s Henderson coming forward with combinations tries to shoot a single he’s in trouble what an escape there and it’s Henderson on top jeez penders had that Guillotine tighten and just like a top Henderson spun out are you kidding me how about this action Henderson Relentless with the guard passing and ptis fishing for that triangle wow and now it’s Henderson taking the back of Pettis just moments ago he was near a choke and now it is Ben Henderson the champion reversing boy how the tides have turned the body lock is in and it’s in deep Pettis shoves it off the crowd is on its feet and uh Pettis is in a little bit of trouble here jeez and again it’s in deep this time it’s under the chin it’s a this is Henderson’s move too oh how did Pettis get out of that one so quick was Henderson there jeez Ben Henderson happy to inflict some damage to the face of Anthony Pettis because he can continue to sink in that choke and look at this now it’s Pettis turn to be patient I mean he wants to escape bad but it’s not worth getting submitted my guess is it’s two rounds to one so Pettis has a lead so the most important thing here is protecting that neck escaping is secondary Anderson once again fishing that right arm in there looking for an opening oh beautiful Escape there and Anthony Pettis reverses on him now he tries to jump the side control and he up his back unbelievable back and forth action here in the fourth round of this title [Applause] fight and Henderson calmly picks the hair out of his mouth under two minutes to go here in round number four she wouldn’t Escape by tius still I mean that’s timing at the exact moment he could Escape he hit that hip turn and got out of [Applause] trouble coming up on 90 seconds to go here in round number four the Champion Ben Henderson looking to retain his belt in the we and make the jump to the UFC where a belt unification bout awaits and really what a back and forth round I mean jeez I don’t know who to give this round [Applause] [Music] to still over a minute left Anything could happen here on the forth and then Pettis back on the attack doing the stalking much like he’s been doing most of the [Applause] fight there you [Applause] go under a minute to go here in round number four and now it’s Anthony Pettis coming forward with a flurry nice left hook by Pettis and Henderson jumps down for a double leg Pettis going for that Guillotine Henderson’s out of trouble he steps to the side relieves some pressure and now Anthony pentis has to find a way to capitalize and I’m of the belief that Ben Henderson could live in this position for an hour if you let him yeah he did the right thing he escaped at least a half guard a lot harder to tap the guy that but if even if he had full guard like I don’t think he’d can CH down he just got crazy Sol headis now trying to get to the Clos guard now he’s back in the Clos guard but only with 10 seconds left and we will will see a fifth and Final Round from Glendale Arizona with a belt on the line we are back for the final round of the wec Ben Henderson and Anthony Pettis putting on an absolute show and I think if you took a straw pole around the cage a lot of people would say this thing’s all even at two rounds a piece I would agree with you there Todd it could very well be two rounds a piece and this is the fifth and Final Round deciding the outcome of this fight deciding who’s going to go on to fight for the UFC belt your Champion Ben Henderson in the black trunks Anthony Pettis in the white trunks the Challenger both men want the date with Destiny for a unification bout in the UFC fighting the winner of Frankie Edgar and gray mayor and really from a fight fans point of view there’s no better thing than a title fight being dead even going in the fifth round anybody’s fight anyone both guys opportunity to turn it up and try to steal that belt one thing for certain the real winner tonight will be the fans because we have had not one but two epic fights here the co-main event going the distance and now the main event and a low shot from Anthony P not to mention one of the one of the best undercards I think I’ve ever seen there’s the replay yep that was a low one sure Ben Henderson can have up to five minutes at the discretion of our referee Herb Dean he shakes it off says let’s go and he finally gets a glove touch out of pentis it’s amazing how the respect actually grows when you’re pounding out some guy through 25 minutes I think Anthony Pettis is really going to respect Ben Henderson land and then he rocks him with a right he respects him but he wants his belt yeah he caught Ben uh he he read Ben he knew Ben was going to kick and he threw a beautiful right straight left hook both punches land and now he gained some confidence you could see it in the Swagger of PEDs as he comes forward pops him with another stinging [Applause] jaam pentis now going to the speed work going to the flash going to Showtime oh he’s going to let him off the hook doesn’t want to get taken down it’s getting the back of Henderson he’s a little high this time time gives it on Smart by ptis rather than being caught on his back under three minutes to go see that cutesy footwork and uh Shuffle stepping had been thinking a little bit as actually caused him to slip and fall down oh that beautifully timed knee and I think I couldn’t tell if that landed flush it looked like Ben might have been hurt there for a second’s not giving up the single though unbelievable chin on Henderson you really can’t hit a guy harder than a flying knee on the way in for a double Leg Takedown like that just ask come Swanson and Henderson finishes with the taked down just over two minutes left and it’s still anybody’s fight which fighter wants it more as we approach the final two minutes of the we in this lightweight bout for the belt I mean pentis seem to be in complete control this round then halfway through gets taken down fishing for that triangle but he really needs to get back to his feet not give up his back and you don’t want to hand this one to the judges Stephan boner but it looks like that’s what we are destined to do oh and Henderson’s got one hook in well psh does not want to finish around defending a rear naked choke that’s for sure especially when he was pretty much in control and again rolls and hits that escape beautiful job by Pettis getting out of trouble and gets back to where he’s most comfortable at range under 90 seconds to [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] go and Stephan I cannot think of a better way to bring down the curtain oh my goodness did you see that he ran off the wall like a ninja and landed a high kick unbelievable I’ve never seen anything like that it’s like some of a movie Anthony Pettis goes full Matrix on the champion and now he’s got him in trouble and Ben Henderson’s in a world of trouble that is something out of the Matrix I can’t believe he landed that in the last round of a title fight unbelievable here we go folks the final 35 seconds as we bring down the curtain are you kidding me and and was that creativity something that is going to bring a belt to the waist of Anthony Pettis or has the champion done enough to retain it and really like Henderson’s got a heck of a chin anyone else probably would have been knocked out by then it absolutely flattened them and he was able to recover and get the right back up and oh man unbelievable and both of these Warriors have put on a show in Glendale welcome to the UFC wow what a fight an absolute classic and what a fitting way to bring down the curtain for World extreme cage fighting I can now wait to see that again I mean I I’m just in disbelief you know running off the cage like that Landing it not only Landing it but almost getting knock out let’s go back to round number one in recap this instant classic yeah round one probably a little advantage to Henderson got aggressive got that inside trip so Pettis spent some time on the ground but Pettis some good counter punch in there probably closed the round a little stronger and then round two another razor close round but it was Pettis his hands and his feet that probably got him the round two round three a little flash rasle Dazzle from and Henderson big take down from Pettis and spent most of this round on the back of Ben Henderson heav Henderson defend the rear naked show pulverizing the body with punches and then my God this fight just kept getting better and better round four that gutin little tight Great Escape by Ben Henderson smooth one lands on top then he has the back of pentis Tides have changed just like in round three and so close to choking him out there and Pettis hit a beautiful Escape there to get out of danger then Pettis opening up with his hands really closing that round four strong and all came down to this Fifth and Final Round hard punches beautiful knee there from Showtime Pettis and here’s why he gets his nickname Showtime unbelievable just flattened Henderson how the heck did he recover from that kick that is incredible that may have been incredible kick I’ve ever seen the move of the century in all of MMA ladies and genten after five rounds of action we go to the judges scorecards for decision the judges score this contest 48 47 4847 and 4946 declaring the winner by unanimous decision and new wec lightweight champion of the world at the showtime p is [Music] should be a classic what what do you think by the way when the referee touches their forehead what he’s looking for uh Vaseline yeah because she she’s like blessing them almost oh look that right l oh nice by a million by a million so strong Crow still buzzing by what we saw between Silva and Hunt but now the focus completely on this Main Event between aiao and noera and we’ve seen this before hey that’s he looked at the he might try the atomic p drop there for a second it wasn’t effective they don’t use it m course has worked with the Cuban national boxing team aano having recovered from the nasty cut over his right eye which brought about the no contest ruling in the final of the heavyweight tournament interesting how he’s moving in this fight you guys down by and a soccer kick by aano [Music] he may not have been moving in the corner before the fight but he is definitely moving now yeah he just sound like a statue when they play the national an you know I mean r you [Music] know there’s no no emotion nothing he just Stone there mag man the road to the final for a melano began by eliminating Mark Coleman then Kevin randman then naoya oawa saat kick there yeah you know what he can deliver so much damage if he wants to do noera but you can never noera out he comes back from the dead and will submit you nice kick to the body by noera eliminated here at taka yoy Heath hering and then Sergey haritonov look at this he just just throws him away you guys exactly boss and we know boss that noa’s lost a little bit more weight he said he needed to be quicker in this rematch Randy he wanted to stick and move against noera or excuse me a million enko but thus far it’s been a million enko who is kind of toy with NOA right now he steps in and throws a nice hand combination and follows through to a huge taked down just drops it and then steps back again let him up Slips Away with that one though tried the third time to take him down the same way and of course a person who is watching with bested interest at ringside Randy and boss is Miro kocok yeah he really wants to fight yeah that’s the way you or Antonio Rodrigo nger whoever emerges as Champion tonight yeah but he said that he really wanted toight him but it’s true he said both whoever wins the title nice K down Defence by by Fedora there that was that was really nice who look at that nope stacking up noera here is a million Eno but now in the close guard now posturing and this is where a million ankle can be very dangerous Randy when he gets that distance starts launching those scud missiles at your head yeah not healthy [Music] and head referee yui shamada don’t move get up okay and they we had it before are going to restart the center of the Ring here again you can almost feel the intensity here the satama super Arena filled to capacity a record crowd Fedor backs out he’s he’s Fedor is very active in this fight he he’s moving around nice the bobbing and weaving not used to seeing a lot of that movement from ailano and it’s noera again we thought he’d employ a different strategy boss but it seems again he’s he’s forced to revert to what he had to do in the two other fights yeah because uh Fodor also reversed his tactics here this is not the F we normally see I’m saying so it’s it’s it’s again a case of a Milenko who is uh outsmarting nogara right now but nogara said also he had a new game plan not working it doesn’t adapt to the new Eagle nice kick yeah they’re rushing they all look alike that’s from rush hour he said from a distance did noera that he would feel comfortable with a million anko Randy but from in close that that where million enko would definitely cause him some problems how how do you feel about that I the way I see it right now he’s having trouble getting a ankle at all and there it is again every time they get close he gets slung to the mat it’s got to take a lot of power foron anko to do that all the time nice jab stiff jab by F boy a milon Eno and noera we know can take a shot but that puts him on his back once again and the crowd the crowd sounded off on the on the sound of that one I think croop Flinch wow Milano ended noar’s First Title reign The Pride 25 in March of 2003 and right now he is in control here noera wanted this Championship wanted this fight so bad we saw how utterly disappointed boss he was by the ruling of the no contest at final Conflict 2004 is it a case maybe right now where he’s just you know what I mean that nerveous oh my gosh right hand but he could take it he could know he’s dizzy he’s dizzy look at him he’s wobbling on his feet right now take down attempt by no Garett covered he’s still not the covered low kick delivered by ailon anko he’s just sizing him up now you know what no is the same as ven Z he always Recs to real fast oh man left jab by and he’s very methodical you guys I mean it’s for ailia Niko you it just looks like you know okay going about my business here sticking and moving lot of yeah it’s like no respect a nera’s punching ability here noera hasn’t hit him one time keep his hands at his waist and he’s just teeing [Music] offer said he needed to be faster needed to stick and move and now he attempts a combination missing with the right however but they are standing more than we’ve seen in their other two matchups kick by Fedora atiff jab I just want to say his jab show deler shot really together oh loading up with that right hand was a million enko there’s a middle kick few more maybe he’s been thinking and thought you know what I can’t K home to the Head let’s work the Buddy a little bit it’s amazing the punishment that noger has been able to absorb some of the best guys including Fedor in these other fights and this fight just snaap back with that left jab yeah you’re right I mean but then again will he pay the price later on in his life is the uh question that remains to be unanswered because man he has taken on unb believable amount of punishment he’s one of the toughest guys in the business look at us being quiet what attention don’t want toink into the into the screen right here yeah this is I mean you just are waiting for the next explosion look at Miracle crocop his arms are crossed he is not moving his line of vision away from these two now I think noa’s earned he uh respects milliano fedor’s punching power a little too much right now and uh what do you guys think Randy aboss uh a shoot attempt right now I think would be met with a nice spraw perhaps a knee to the head it’s it’s really hard to hit a guy with a good shot when he’s backing up there it is there’s the shot done and this is what no wanted he said I want to take him down and want time work from his guard now it’s going to be a half guard then but that’s this was his plan did a nice job of using the corner backed him up to the ropes there bounced him off the ropes and follow three with the take down yeah when you said it marrow I thought you know he’s going to wait till l number two right maybe fed is not going to expect it anymore and then’s going to right and yet you’re right he said that in the pre-match interviews that he was going to try to take him down because he wanted to show a million enko what it’s like to be on the bottom but and here it is the first opportunity first round was an arm bar there at the end of the first round same as with am Crow CB almost almost amazing big right hand follows through with the take down right back to his feet W [Music] oh and he’s stilling in it nice right hand saw the foot coming up through that right hand right as noer thre that tie kick oh big right hand and single leg take down stays on his feet for Fedor man that’s about as big a right hand as you’re going to see in this sport holy cow let’s see what adjustments noer can make now see if he can find a way to again get on top and take advantage of that top position maybe right away from the belt bam shoot in he’s got to catch foror taking a forward step to be able to take him down all right after round number one which was was mainly controlled by milliano Fedor we head into round two of this the main event of Shockwave with the pride heavyweight championship and the 2004 heavyweight tournament championship at stake good taked down defense by by Fedor he was expecting that shot been impressed with how Fedor is developed you know first solely to be a striker and just ground and pound and now we’re seeing him put together some submission skills and do some things this take down defense is very [Music] impressive it’s interesting though you guys that noera as he now goes in close quarters he wanted to stick and move wanted to be faster but it looks like he uh really does respect the milono the second he stops moving his head the door hits him right in that’s it and uh again nice exchange there right left hook hook upper cut neeno on the other hand not showing a terrible amount of respect for noar’s punching power he’s got his hands at his waist for crying out loud but the good thing the good thing is if you have a hands at your waist you pretty much know for sure that your opponent’s going to hit your head you only have to pull back I do the other my hands real high up I know to go for the body maybe that’s his strategy I know he’s not getting hit in the head that much you brought up a good point early on there’s some uh good taked down defense there’s that knee we talked about earlier as well in the last round but Randy you brought up a good point earlier that uh milliano seems to be a lot more elusive a lot more active in his movements in this fight in and out side to side stick and move uh a lot of footwork going on there he he’s doing a great job of controlling the tempo this fight Garett doing a nice job of following the knee and jumping to the guard he’s like I got to get this guy to the ground somehow that’s where he has him now see how easy that he he escaped this I mean it’s almost looks like tries to put it on already esap yeah he already knows what’s coming out control attemp he doesn’t escape escap he’s gone before it even gets put on it do not feel good for n it’s got to be frustrating yeah you can see the frustration just emanating from his body it’s all over his face and uh Fodor milono continues to stick to what has been successful thus far and you talked about making adjustments Randy Couture have to do them now nice take down by anko you think Randy that if uh Theodor Milenko does emerge Victorious here and has a date with Miracle crocop I mean he’s he’s going to have to obviously change his uh guard while standing I think croop will get his attention in a real hurry if he keep his hands at his waist oh look at this another triangle so easy kind of holding his side a little bit there like hurt done something got to be a little disconcerning to have those punches coming from down at the waist brothera when you’re not used to see him come from down there and noera tagged him with a right and again it was like million anle just swed it away like a you know fly it’s been all a [Music] million nice big long stiff jab coming from Milli waist and that actually puts his hands in nice position for that take down def oh that’s probably it his waist got to be it how do you get under those hands to get to his hips to take him down when they’re at his waist his hands are down I did this one time with the box it was real fun he put his hands down and he he put his head forward and he like hit me in the head and I looked in his eyes and it gave him right straight to the solar PL and he went out it was so good see so that’s maybe the way noer should triy to do it keep looking at his eyes and then go for the body but I don’t know if you can hurt F or it looks to me like look at him there’s a hammer again it’s like the second time we’ve seen it now at the end of the round where some real damage could have been done either with the strikes or submission attempts and yet the Bell goes and after two rounds it’s like Fodor melan Eno’s been doing whatever he wants to do at will and nogara still taxing the runway Randy I felt with croop it was more that noera made a little bit of an adjustment he was trying to stay away from crocop and take him down and it wasn’t until he actually stepped in and engaged Crow cop that he was able to get the shot off Y and and he’s just not able to even catch up with Fedor in this fight to get that shot off you know in looking at the repl right now you guys it seemed that noera has a better setup with the combination and misses and it’s like a million ano and just reacting is able to still connect and do damage so all right we are going into the third and final round this is the championship round two titles at stake the 2004 tournament championship and the pride World Heavyweight Championship and they start in a flurry very nice trip take down there yeah I I thought it looked like noer was maybe going to step it up and not decided to [Music] answer these are two pretty incredible athletes right here these guys no doubt about that and uh with the final five minutes now upon us it’s going to come down to who wants those championships more and really you talk about money you can talk about the fame but really when it comes to being an MMA fighter in Randy Couture you know it as good as anybody it really is about just you know being the best that you can be for yourself but also for your peers and that belt has to mean everything it definitely means a lot and and that’s the thing I think you share it with a lot of people because you don’t do this by yourself there’s a lot of guys that help these two right here get ready for this fight herea really trying to open up on the bottom and find some way to get the Fedor just steps out let’s just walk away from that was the closest we’ve seen to noera being dangerous so far in this matchup he kind of went to a normal Pata there and almost had it I I think I just stand up yeah let’s walk away because my mother always said if they want to fight you you have to walk away yeah you know if’s going to win this fight which it looks like oh nice right here and there goes for the shoot but look at Amano the positioning ends up in the butterfly no it’s the open guard now into the close guard but you’re right a nice right hand by nogar look who ends up on top on top but you know what if he wins cro up would be a phenomenal matchup both great Strikers or Mark hunt very good too but I would like to see a striker against T after what we’ve seen so far tonight at Shockwave there is an embarrassment of riches when it comes to intriguing matchups to come out of tonight’s event for the for the upcoming shows in 2005 I mean vanderlay Silva going down to defeat for the first time uh you talk about miraco crocop emerging victorious in his rematch with Kevin randman but here we have two Champions unifying The Pride World Heavyweight Championship and now they’re turning oh nice knee by Fedor and I think M croop’s got to be sitting on the sidelines here the G oh that guy’s not just going to punch he’s got some take down abilities as well you saw him there momentarily in the shot at rig side definitely there he is [Music] watching take down by Body lock you never heard of him in the Roman world where he he’s got to go fast now no G if he wants to win this fight he’s got to look for submission what he’s doing right now but I bet you’s going to sit up straight while he goes post right up step out of this again noera for the Never Say Die attitude he knows what it’s at stake he has the heart of a champion but it’s a milono like a runaway train just constantly coming back atam noera now looking for an escape here and probably trying to secure the left arm ailano yes there it is looking for just slips out same same as she did in the first time when they f power out of it and really now with the final few minutes you guys he’s not going to knock out a million that’s a given he has to go and try to submit oh the right hand and a left and look at him he’s still standing and another left those are not just left straight jab on the those are Sledgehammer left hands being delivered by Fodor ailano wow and let’s throw him again oh you are seeing two Champions going right down to the wire and vior Milano and Antonio Rodrigo noera giving it all they’ve gots a little fatigue now KN amazing Pace this fight like lightweight almost how many times you going to take a 230 lb guy swinging to the m and now no look at that was lock yeah it’s going to be the end of the round right hand now and there it is the end of the fight it was a struggle wow what a for noera viora Milano but again like you guys said for the heavyweights they went at it tooth and nail what a pace J [Music] M J [Applause] unanimous decision for Fedor as we suspected needless to say a unanimous decision for Fedor a [Music] milono Anthony Pettis and the champion smooth Ben Henderson finally it is on Anthony Pettis does not want to touch gloves no love loss between these two like you said Henderson goes in with no chip on his shoulder so relaxed and Pettis kind of does he’s got something to through he’s going to show the world you know you could go down your checklist of fighter attributes and who you give the edge to and I think at the end of that scorecard you’d be almost dead even yeah you would I mean uh the one guy strengths they kind of even out want the other guy’s weaknesses very very evenly matched fight break everything down and put everything together and really the big question there’s Henderson taking a little page out of Pettis his book right there showing them hey I got a black belt in tawo as well it’s very interesting to see who’s going to have the advantage in wrestling we all thought Shane roller did in the last fight and he didn’t and on paper you think Henderson should we’ll [Applause] see ptis answers back with a J roundhouse of his own just so quick and unorthodox and Ben Henderson though so extremely durable oh yeah he is we’ve seen him in full on triangles and arm bars and chokes and and how is his arm broken how is he not sleeping and he just it’s unbelievable how he could avoid submissions and just keep fighting through things and when he gets that guillotina and you like people tap so fast just extremely powerful chokes he has guys can in the range that is being patient to set up something big this one scheduled for five rounds remember the winner tonight retires the WC belt and a unification is on and it’s Ben Henderson getting the clinch first after a lethal combination as he comes forward yeah finally got aggressive there let his hands go got the double uh double unders on pedison is not let go look going to take this fight to the ground early a lot of Fighters underestimate the strength of Ben Henderson his easy demeanor but boy he is such a strong athlete when he gets into this clinch very strong and and he he sustains that strength you know it’s not something that drops off and he goes at such a Relentless Pace too you think he’s going to fatigue a little but he’s able to keep this up for 25 minutes straight As we saw before against Cowboy Cerone softening up the legs of Anthony Pettis just holds him there in the sling look at Pettis fing like he’s yawning this is nothing I I think I remember seeing that from Ali back in the day in between rounds he’s doing it during the round but there it goes inside trip Tak down and Pettis is on his [Applause] back yeah that’s such a deceptive take down you get the double unders you try winging the guy around from side to side he defends it well and then when he least expected he just push forward dig that leg on the inside trip him back to his back and Pettis doing a great job there before Henderson can suck his hips away from the cage he slides his back up against it yeah he’s already got his back he’s already in the position to stand back up staying [Applause] relaxed the face of Henderson oh armar attempt Henderson sees nothing to it and don’t forget that P’s got a great Trang tapped out a lot of top fighters with that triangle but like I said before something’s crazy with the arteries of Henderson’s neck it’s like it can’t be choked up how close to the TV screen do you think Frankie Edgar and grey May are they just thinking about their fight on January 1st oh I’m sure they’re watching this intely for sure big attention there’s those kicks from ptis he’s so Dynamic so powerful one minute to go here in round number one this one scheduled for five for the lightweight belt [Music] this is usually where Anthony Pettis likes to strike a l in the action yeah he’s he’s the type of guy that like every strike has a purpose he’s really relaxed and he sets you up for the big one he doesn’t waste a lot of energy he doesn’t throw tons of strikes but he’s so good at setting you up for The Knockout sh beautiful front kick there is then fakes like the front kick goes upstairs with the roundhouse just a little high skins ahead of Henderson oh good counter hit there that seemed to hurt Henderson a little bit drops out for the single leg looking to finish good hips there by ptis looks like uh he’s got him up against the cage and he’ll be able to suck him out here and he does another take down by Ben Henderson final 10 seconds here of round number one we will see a second round in Glendale Arizona when we return to jobing.com arena after this short [Music] break the wec lightweight belt on the line from jobing.com Mar arena in Glendale Arizona Anthony Pettis the Challenger in the white trunks the champion smooth Ben Henderson in the black trunks tough first round to call Stephan Bonner I mean it really is uh you know the main difference is probably the take Downs by Henderson but Pettis I mean avoided any damage and uh really played a good game shot a good triangle was able to stand back up after the first one so very close round good good job by both Fighters really avoiding any really damaging punishment in that round although they they both put out good offense as well oh big right hand and Pettis now takes the back just like that see the fight could be over at any second like that ptis sets up his strikes and did you see Henderson immediately protect his throat thinking that Pettis was going to take the back and go for the choke looks like uh slows the pace down is actually got a C here good job by Pettis Putman down on his back and now Pettis turning it around has a CER of his own sheez just Twisted that arm behind Henderson’s back we’ve seen that before from Ben Henderson the guy is absolutely Gumby absolutely Gumby like double CH in every joint in his body plus his arteries are deep in his neck it’s pretty submi again great action here in round number two remember this one is a five round Affair for the lightweight belt in the wec and then the unification is on following the Frankie Edgar GRE mayor bout UFC January [Applause] 1st [Applause] buddy [Music] [Applause] 21 Pace slows just a little bit keep your eye on Anthony Pettis in the white trunks looking for something to launch against the Champion Ben Henderson from this angle it looked like it was a right hand that dropped hemerson but I guess on looking at the replay actually stepped on his foot and kind of fell in the punch didn’t really connect so that one sure [Applause] [Music] did the big left just missing from Ben Henderson then he goes the attack and grabs the single and that’s what he does so well mixing up that strike and grappling try to get you in exchange dropping down for a shot you sprawl pop back up get more punches off and back in on your legs Ben Henderson so smooth in the [Applause] trans make him know this is more Henderson Spight too here on the inside in the clinch you know Pettis has got to use that range you know once he’s on the outside then we’re going to see some more of that V striking Anthony Pettis looking for range looking for distance to do something spectacular come in and try to end the reign of Ben Henderson the champion in the black trunks got to respect the the punching power of Ben Henderson he’s not all about Muay Thai and taekwon do no has great power in his hands and a pretty good kicker as well and now it looks like P is stuck and kind of control the center of the rage looking the setup that big St beautiful body kick by Henderson would you say that this pace favor of Ben Henderson well they’re not really at that Reckless Pace I mean that’s not Pettis his game he he he makes every strike count he really tries to set you up for the big one so you know I think they getting the faster more Tor Pace fav Ben Henderson as we approach the final minute here of round number two this one scheduled for five for the lightweight belt of the wec in an inadvertent low kick Ben Henderson says I’m fine her Dean our referee says he can have up to five minutes ready then shakes it [Music] [Music] off both Fighters just Stephan just so crisp with their striking you know you see a fight like this what slows down it’s but they’re so equally matched I mean it’s no one has a real major advantage and really good reaction there I mean the timing’s good for both of them you just saw Henderson throw a high kick and a beautiful counter Pettis went underneath and kick the leg that Henderson was standing on but Henderson’s got some thighs on usually that takes a guy’s legs out causes him to fall down but not with that this is one of those fights that’s been a year in the making as both of these men climb the mountain Henderson the defending champion and Pettis has had his eyes squirely on this belt as we go under 10 seconds here in round number two so we will see a third round from Glendale when we return to versus back in Glendale Arizona jobing.com arena alongside Stephan boner I’m Todd Harris as we prepare to turn the page on the we and roll into the UFC this for the lightweight bout your champion in the black trunks is Ben Henderson going up against a very talented Challenger Anthony Pettis in the white Trunks and we got a really close fight on her hands yeah I mean you can’t take my word for it but my guess is that the judges gave bend the first round and Pettis the second round one of these men will retire that usfc belt and then they will get a shot at the UFC belt to unify them that coming after the Frankie Edgar and GRE Mayer bout coming up January 1st UFC from Las Vegas once again ptis doing the stalk let’s see if Ben comes forward a little more even his Corner said you know that round is really close only because you were backing up a little too [Music] much ill intentions on that straight right from Ben Henderson yeah he really loaded up on that punch that P us with the take down Henderson continues to work throwing the elbows into the thigh car going to the full Mount getting the back Henderson Henderson giving up the back to Anthony Pettis a dangerous place to be Henderson trying to protect that choke going to stand up good job of cradle and see how uh Pettis locked his hands there it’s an excellent defense to void getting shaking off the top when he got someone’s back the Ben so flexible just seems like he can sit in this position all day and just slowly which fighter though Stefan is exerting the most energy in this position I don’t know but I mean it takes a lot of strength to hold on like that it also takes a lot of strength from Benda to carry someone on your back you all someone’s weight on your back he’s got a 155lb backpack right now and Ben Henderson looking for a way out of this probably a little more than 155 today that’s the official way [Applause] [Music] in Henderson looking for a way to scrape Pettis off his back looks like he can stay there for a long time he’s got the body triangle on that makes it a little easier to hold that position this is like getting a 30se second breather in the middle of the round for Pettis absolutely he’s just hanging on Ben Henderson looking for a way as the crowd comes alive that is doing a good job not letting go of that arm of of ptis sry Henderson doing a good job all right out of stalemate here if you’re Ben Henderson’s Corner what are you telling him to keep control of that over arm you know the the arm over your shoulder is the one that could choke you as long as he controls that he’s not going to be able to get choke he is going to take some rocky B bow like shots to the ribs right now from Anthony Pettis and it looks like the champ Ben Henderson just cannot figure out this puzzle yeah pet is just walloping the body of Ben Henderson right now and yeah a bit of a St here Henderson can’t give up that arm and he really can’t shake him with a body triangle so he’s just got to kind of sit here and wait it out maybe hopefully get a break from the referee 90 seconds to go here in round three this one scheduled for five for the lightweight belt but again Henderson just being very tranquil and patient you know if he does something stupid now if he really tries to force himself out or slam Pettis it could cost him the fight and he’s not about to do that he knows he has uh two more rounds to work after this well you look at the thighs of Ben Henderson he has got world class cycling thighs and strength there but again you make a great point he is carrying the full weight of Anthony Pettis right now yeah he is and Pettis Relentless going for that [Music] neck 45 seconds left here in the third round all Anthony Petes right in the back of Ben Henderson smashing those ribs with his fist looking for that rear naked [Applause] choke and now it’s Henderson teing off on the thigh of Pettis and he’s found a way is this the way he’s going to get rid of Anthony Pettis oh he try to watch out for that neck the final 20 seconds of round three were scheduled for five it looks like he’s going to make it out of this round make it out of danger get the start back on his feet in 10 more seconds and that’s it he breaks it and we will see another round here in Glendale it’s a classic this is the lightweight title about the main event of the night Ben Henderson your champion in the black trunks Anthony Pettis the Challenger in the white Trunks and a great shot from both Fighters yeah both guys landed right there and you got to think you got to wonder if that uh you know right in a guy’s back like that with a body triangle you still got to be squeezing with your thighs to hold yourself there if that if that took a toll on Anthony’s size if that’s going to affect his speed footwork we’ll see this is the fourth round we are scheduled for five oh Henderson with a vicious body kick there all Shin up up up [Applause] [Music] oh now it’s Henderson coming forward with combinations tries to shoot a single he’s in trouble what an escape there and it’s Henderson on top jeez P just had that Guillotine tighten and just like a tap Henderson spun out are you kidding me how about this action Henderson Relentless with the guard passing and P is fishing for that triangle wow and now it’s Henderson taking the back of Pettis just moments ago he was near a choke and now it is Ben Henderson the champion reversing it boy how the tides have turned the body lock is in and it’s in deep pentis shoves it off the crowd is on its feet and uh Pettis is in a little bit of trouble here jeez and again it’s this time it’s under the chin it’s this is Henderson’s move too oh how did Pettis get out of that one so quick was Henderson there jeez Ben Henderson happy to inflict some damage to the face of Anthony Pettis because he can continue to sink in that choke and look at this now it’s Pettis turn to be patient I mean he wants to escape bad but it’s not worth getting submitted my guess is it’s two rounds to one so Pettis has a lead so the most important thing here is protecting that neck escaping is [Applause] secondary Anderson once again fishing that right arm in there looking for an opening oh beautiful Escape there and Anthony Pettis reverses on him now he tries to jump the side control and he up his back unbelievable back and forth action here in the fourth round of this title [Applause] fight and Henderson calmly picks a hair out of his mouth under two minutes to go here in round number four she wouldn’t Escape by Titus too I mean that’s timing at the exact moment who could Escape he hit that hip turn and got out of trouble coming up on 90 seconds to go here in round number four the Champion Ben Henderson looking to retain his belt in the we and make the jump to the UFC where a belt unification bout awaits and really what a back and forth round I mean jeez I don’t know who to give this round [Applause] [Music] to still over a minute left Anything could happen here on the fourth and then Pettis back on the attack doing the stalking much like he’s been doing most of the [Applause] fight under a minute to go here in round number four and now it’s Anthony Pettis coming forward with a flurry nice left hook by Pettis and Henderson jumps down for a double leg Pettis going for that Guillotine Henderson’s out of trouble he step to the side relieves some pressure and now Anthony Pettis has to find a way to capitalize and I’m of the belief that Ben Henderson could live in this position for an hour if you let him yeah he did the right thing he escaped at least a half guard a lot harder to tap the guy that but if even if he had full guard like I don’t think he can show that he just got crazy some htis now trying to get to the Clos guard now he’s back in the Clos guard but only the 10 seconds left and we will see a fifth and Final Round from Glendale Arizona with a belt on the line we are back for the final round of the wec Ben Henderson and Anthony Pettis putting on an absolute show and I think you took a straw pole around the cage a lot of people would say this thing’s all even at two rounds a piece I would agree with you there Todd it could very well be two rounds a piece and this is the fifth and Final Round deciding the outcome of this fight deciding who’s going to go on the fight for the UFC Bel your Champion Ben Henderson in the black trunks Anthony Pettis in the white trunks the Challenger both men want the date with Destiny for a unification bout in the UFC fighting the winner of Frankie Edgar and GRE and really from a fight fans point of view there’s no better thing than a title fight being dead even going in the fifth round anybody’s fight anyone both guys opportunity to turn it up and try to steal that belt one thing for certain the real winner tonight will be the fans because we have had not one but two epic fights here the co-main event going the distance and now the main event and a low shot from Anthony not to menion one of one of the best undercards I think I’ve ever seen there’s a replay yep that was a low one Ben Henderson can have up to five minutes at the discretion of our referee Herb Dean he shakes it off says let’s go and he finally gets a blub touch out of Pettis it’s amazing how the respect actually grows when you’re pounding out some guy through 25 minutes I think Anthony Pettis is really going to respect landed and then he rocks him with a right he respects him but he wants his belt yeah he caught Ben no he he read Ben he knew Ben was going to kick and he threw a beautiful right straight left hook well punch his land and now he gained some confidence he could see it in the Swagger of p as he comes forward pops him with another stinging [Applause] jaam Pettis now going to the speed workor going to the flash going to Showtime oh he’s going to let him off the hook doesn’t want to get taken down it’s getting the back of Henderson he’s a little high this time gives it up smart by ptis rather than being caught on his back under three minutes to go see that cutesy footwork and uh Shuffle stepping had been thinking a little bit as actually caused him to slip and fall down oh that beautifully timed knee and I think I couldn’t tell if that landed flush it looked like Ben might have been hurt there for a second Hon’s not giving up the single though unbelievable chin on Henderson you really can’t hit a guy harder than a flying knee on the way in for a double leg taked down like that just ask come Swanson and Henderson finishes with the take down just over two minutes left and it’s still anybody’s fight which fighter wants it more as we approach the final two minutes of the we in this lightweight bout for the belt I mean p seem to be in complete control this round then halfway through gets taken down fishing for that triangle but he really needs to get back to his feet not give up his back and you don’t want to hand this one to the judges Stephan boner but it looks like that’s what we are destined to do oh and Henderson’s got one hook in well psh does not want to finish the round defending a rear naked choke that’s for sure especially when he was pretty much in control and again Rosen hits that escape beautiful job by Pettis getting out of trouble and gets back to where he’s most comfortable at range under 90 seconds to [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] go and step and I cannot think of a better way to bring down the curtain oh my good did you see that he ran off the wall like a ninja and landed a high kick unbelievable I’ve never seen anything like that a movie Anthony ptis goes full Matrix on the champion and now he’s got him in trouble and Ben Henderson’s in a world of trouble that is something out of the Matrix I can’t believe he landed that in the last round of a title fight unbelievable here we go folks the the final 35 seconds as we bring down the curtain are you kidding [Applause] me and was that creativity something that is going to bring a belt to the waist of Anthony Pettis or has the champion de enough to retain it and really like Henderson’s got a heck of a chin anyone else probably would have been knocked out by then if absolutely flattened them and he was able to recover and get that right back up and oh man un believable and both of these Warriors have put on a show in Glendale welcome to the UFC wow what a fight an absolute classic and what a fitting way to bring down the curtain for World extreme cage fighting I cannot wait to see that again I mean I I’m just in disbelief you know running off the cage like that and Landing it not only Landing it but almost getting knockout let’s go back to round number one and recap this instant classic yeah round one probably a little advantage to Henderson got aggressive got that inside trip so Pettis spent some time on the ground but Pettis some good counter punch in there probably Clos the round a little stronger and then round two another razor close round but it was Pettis his hands and his feet that probably got him in round two round three a little flash rasle Dazzle from mat Henderson big take down from Pettis and SP most of this round on the back of Ben Henderson Heaven Henderson defend the rear naked show pulverizing the body with the punches and then my God this fight just kept getting better and better round four that gam little tight great esap by Ben Henderson smooth one lands on top then he has the back of Pettis Tides have changed just like in round three and so close to choking him out there and Pettis hit a beautiful Escape there to get out of danger then Pettis opened up with his hands really Clos in that round four strong and all came down to this Fifth and Final Round hard punches beautiful knee there from Showtime Pettis and here’s why he gets his nickname Showtime unbelievable just flatten Henderson how the heck did he recover from that kick that is incredible may have incredible kick I’ve ever seen the move of the century in all of MMA ladies and gentlemen after five rounds of action we go to the judges score cards for decision the judges score this contest 4847 4847 and 4946 declaring the winner by unanimous decision and new wec lightweight champion of the world an Showtime head taking on that man 1y old Max Holloway and it’ll be interesting to see how Holloway responds to the pressure fighter and it’s McGregor Landing [Applause] early wow throwing a lot of wild stuff right away he spent a lot of time in Iceland training with Gunner Nelson and he he has a very similar style stance Gunner who’s a brilliant brilliant bra Ian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner but started off as a karate stylist oh look at that front leg hook kick where do you see that very rare and that’s uh one of the things that you’re seeing in Connor is this karate style stance it’s very unpredictable along with a background in amateur boxing was a national amateur boxing champion and very much as you say shades of gunar Nelson but just a great fluidity with Conor McGregor and he continues to land upstairs on ma Hollow and that unpredictable nature of his attack makes Max hesitant he doesn’t know what’s coming it could be a front leg hook kick it could be a front hand uppercut a lot of wild unorthodox openings good sweep uh good uh switch kick by Max there and that will certainly help [Applause] him those legs are wide The Stance is wide and if Max attacks those legs they’ll be there for him another thing to take into account is Max is very good on the ground and Conor’s two losses have come by submission look at this wild stuff jumping switch kick that front leg hook kick although you never see it in MMA you rarely even see it in kickboxing there was a man named Larry Kelly out of Massachusetts back in the day would knock people unconscious with a front leg hook kick it was legendary Bill superfoot Wallace another one famous kickboxer had a dynamic front leg hook kick and it’s interesting to see Conor McGregor utilizing that technique it is hard to simulate this type of pressure in training too yeah that jumping switch kick is very unique too and he throws it with no wind up you see he’s throwing these kicks there’s no switch there’s no step before he throws them very much karate style and you know Max Holloway came into this fight in terms of strikes landed per minute second only to our UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez in UFC history but KY McGregor getting off early and often here as we pass the midpoint of round one that just shows you what a freak King Velasquez is that 14 fou 5B guy and him have a similar output ratio you see how the way he’s throwing that kick that’s very much karate style and he follows it up with a straight left hand and Max looks a little bewi there taking some hard shots that’s a nice switch that would definitely help him more the more of those he can get off the better slow down the movement and take away from the spring of Conor’s attack because it’s one of the things that Conor likes to do like that that jumping switch so few guys do that Shogun used to do that a little bit in his younger days but it’s just such a it’s an unusual technique as is that front leg hook kick there it is again field kick to the legs Andy hook style and you see the kicks and knees landed starting to pile up for the Irishman Conor McGregor and uses that lead hand too to sort of paw and control his opponent and hands down I mean look where his hand positioning is he’s telling him to hit him go ahead hit me oh high kick beautiful uppercup good right hand over the top by Max Max needs to get Conor’s respect and right now he’s just a little confused by all the offense that Conor’s throwing his way he’s trying to wheel kick himself but Conor saw it coming and stepped with [Applause] it Conor with the front leg Sid kick to the [Applause] thigh Max Holloway growing up in a small town in aahu Hawaii certainly no shortage of mental toughness and he’s hanging in there he got clipped that was a a strong straight left there by [Applause] Connor Conor’s just so relaxed in there I mean it’s amazing this is his second UFC fight very high profile and look how Kami is in there he believes he’s immune to pressure and that is certainly head kick Max is in all sorts of trouble here so Conor McGregor doing what he does through five minutes here against Max Hollow so just the Way Conor McGregor drew it up through five minutes here and as he said to John kavana in between rounds not fatigued whatsoever these are two conditioned featherweights here on display tonight he consistently does that jumping switch technique where he lifts up his right leg and then kicks with the left oh good straight left by Connor and Max Holloway’s Corner imploring him to attack that leg and to follow it up with a straight right to move back and counter McGregor and get his respect and I think that’s imperative at this point for Max [Applause] Holloway a lot of people have suggested Conor McGregor could be very successful in boxing and then you see the kicking Acumen just an absolute pleasure to watch on display [Applause] here what’s also excellent about the the way he fights is his his recognition of distance where he’s in trouble where he’s not and where he can land and where his opponent can’t like guess Max moves in you see he’s really not there for him but Max is a little bit more befuddled and that’s the the much higher Landing ratio that McGregor’s showing show you the total strikes to this point in the fight McGregor 3 to one in terms of the ratio outlanding Max Holloway and really uses that lead hand as a rangefinder and not so much a jet you know you can call it 3 to one but it’s it’s even more significant than that because it’s the only real hard strikes are being landed by Connor right so although Max has landed a few shots here and there they’ve been glancing blows and there you see that straight left by Connor I mean I don’t know how many of these Maxs can continue to take you’re seeing a lot of swelling in his face and Connor is just getting loose there was a good right hand there by but he did it as he was moving he didn’t plant his feet and bar he did but he got [Applause] countered now he’s digging his toes up yep and that’s what Max has got to do got to got to land something significant he’s got to take away some of the confidence of Connor and he’s got to try to hurt him very little wasted motion for Conor McGregor and you see that nice uppercut on the inside there now he’s mixing up his Tempo look how he’s sort of slow baiting him there with like half speed techniques and a nice left hand there the crowd responds after that Holloway land yeah he’s getting he’s getting used to doing that same technique over again that hop up with the right leg and throw the left kick and that time Max saw it coming there’s that good straight left again and good footwork as well sliding to the side after he lands it here he caught that kick took him down let’s see his ground game now and Max Holloway has a very good guard let’s see if he attacks off of his back or if he just tries to hold Conor Conor trying to step over that right leg of Max hallway right now he’s in guard and he would like to get into a dominant position wants to try to step over that leg and then free his right leg as well so he keeps trying to lift that leg up Max recognizes it closes is off his full guard now Max is also doing a real good job with his left arm note how he’s clamping down on the back of the neck of Connor has to keep Connor from posturing up if Connor can lift his body up and straighten up then he can generate power into his strikes as long as Max is holding on to his neck he’s fairly safe in this position but here he’s not now he’s not now he’s in trouble and now he’s got to use his legs push Connor off of him and make sure that Connor can’t get comfortable enough to land hard blows now he’s controlling them again so far good defense by Max clamping down on the right arm of McGregor with an overhook full guard here and then closes off on his neck with his right arm good defense right now for max they’re talking to each other I don’t know what they’re saying but yeah I’m sure Conor McGregor is very well skilled in psychological warfare as well continues to keep that pressure on Joe but good guard by Max you know so far far okay now Conor sliced through it nicely done nicely done Max recovered a bit of a a quarter guard not really quite a half guard but he’s just basically got his legs wrapped around the ankle which is fairly easy to free up now it’s simp almost almost half guard he’s going to if he wants to scoot out and kick off with his right leg he should be free and he is back to half guard or back excuse me back to side control so the first eight minutes of this one we were right now Conor McGregor showing off the ground game here towards the end of round two all Conor McGregor to this point of the fight now Max Holloway is wearing it as we get ready for our third and final round we’re seeing a lot more of Conor McGregor obviously after just a 67 second win in his UFC [Applause] debut there’s switching it up with front leg Sidekicks Max trying to counter with his kick good right hand by [Applause] Max and if you’re Max Hollow Joe I mean what is the strategy in trying to sort of stem the tide here and mute this offense of Conor McGregor well I mean I think that what he’s going to do is somehow or another get Conor’s respect he’s got to land something or he’s got to attempt a submission lock something up he’s got to do something offensively and so far he hasn’t really been able to generate any offense and because of Conor’s usual attacks it really it started off very badly for him so the momentum went immediately to Conor’s side and he’s never been able to get it back and now Connor goes to side control and almost mounts him but a beautiful guard pass by McGregor he’s concentrating on the left arm but he’s also the way he’s wrapping his left arm around the neck of Max Holloway makes me think that he might be thinking about choking him as [Applause] well or he might just move to a mounted crucifix and try to pound him out out here I think that’s what he’s going to try to do no mounts he’s going to mount him yep not quite looks like the left leg is still trapped Max is a very tricky guard very good defensively off his back and Conor’s left leg is almost now he’s free and now Max rolls him over and Max is out nicely done by Max beautiful taked down by McGregor but in the half guard for Max Max has done a really good job at not allowing McGregor to get to full Mount and regaining guard good defensive guard but very little offense here like in this position he’s got his right arm around McGregor’s head but he’s not even attempting for a guillotine not even trying to threaten it a scary proposition to think of Conor McGregor as he continues to work on that offensive Jiu-Jitsu game a Brazilian jiu-jitsu purple belt full out now he’s got him and the reason why he got that is because he secured the head and arm and by doing it that and holding on to his his arms in that position he forced Max into a position where Max couldn’t put his hands on his hips now Conor has full guard Max is trying to utilize his legs and separate the feet of Connor and maybe shift his hips and get it back to some sort of a half guard or perhaps full guard again but Max is he’s being controlled here totally by Conor McGregor but McGregor not generating anything offensive here just holding on to him slapping him a little bit putting weight on that melon two minutes to go in our third and final round and you see in this third round almost half the round Conor McGregor has been in top position he’s not doing anything offensively from here though now he is he’s moving now Max is Shifting now he’s getting some ground and pound in now he’s got the back hard shots by McGregor from the top boy that left arm is a gift wrap right there he can just take that arm if he wants to hook it and go he doesn’t want to though he wants to hold the position and keep ground and pounding him and he’s shifts back to Mount Big Shots by McGregor Max wraps his arms around him try to keep Connor from posturing up Max may try to scoot out the back door if he can make a bit of an explosion and perhaps underhook one of those legs he’s got to do something to get out of this [Applause] Mount now here’s shifting he’s shifting he’s out nicely done by Max Holloway and as he gets up he’s greeted by a knee from Conor McGregor so we are upright again head kick look at this Max is going for it [Applause] McGregor turns the corner takes him down again very nice so Conor McGregor continues to score you got to respect the effort of Max Holloway here hasn’t given up but easier said than done when you have a guy like Conor McGregor doing with you what he wants to do here through much of the fight well especially the first round was an absolutely brilliant performance by McGregor the second and third have been less devastating but still [Applause] dominant so the crowd responding here down the stretch Conor McGregor with a dominant performance here tonight in Boston against Max Holloway ladies and gentlemen after three rounds we go to the judges scorecards for a decision the judges score the contest 3027 3027 and 3026 declaring the winner by unanimous decision the notorious Conor [Applause] McGregor here we go the champion in the black the Challenger in the [Applause] blue [Applause] nunz utilizing that reach early mixing things up she tagged her she tagged her again she Hur [Applause] her nunz with a big right hand Mike and again she Hur her again ronda’s in trouble she’s in trouble Mike over the top big trouble can’t she finish it right here right now she shot her to the body Rhonda is in big trouble Mike nunes’s hands are down and she’s walking Rhonda down she tags her again over and over Amanda [Applause] Nunes big comination it’s in it’s in it’s over it’s all over just like that wow wow Flawless performance by Amanda Nunes stunning devastating Victory by [Applause] nunz wow she lit Rhonda up like a Christmas [Applause] tree you see Amanda moves in cranks off that right hand boom boom the right right hand to the ear steps in with a jab boom catches it with that left hook right hand again right hand again Amanda Nunes just completely smashed Rhonda one two one two I mean merciful Rescue by Herb Dean stunning performance by the champion Amanda Nunez destroys Ronda Rousey and defends her belt for the very first [Applause] time that young Brazilian Superstar May hold on to that belt for a very very long time ladies and gentlemen referee her Dean has call to stop to this contest at 48 seconds of the very first round declaring the winner by TKO and still the Undisputed UFC B and weight champion of the world Amanda the [Music] [Applause] lioness [Music] MMA is such a big part of our lives that Selena doesn’t generally watch but she’s at home right now glued to the TV John she text me said I got to watch this one got to do it Dustin porier in the black trunks Justin gatei is in blue and one of our producers picked up on some buzzwords in the poier locker room as he was getting ready to come out as he lands a left and a right smother and pressure the buzzwords coming out of the poier corner before they came up already like three or four inside leg kicks though man he’s got to check him he’s got to at least punch catch one and take him down something every time he gets kicked in the legs he’s got her answer to those leg kicks gaii said it would be hard for poier to be patient with me in his face all night laier just misses on the uppercut there gatei has to be one of the best leg kickers MMA has ever seen I’m not saying an MMA right now he’s got to be one of the best leg kickers MMA has ever seen nice straight right lands for Justin gatei G is already cut doesn’t care though still pressuring forward trying to get past that jab aier watch the counter right hook Kore that’s going to be one of his best weapons he steps out and hits that counter right hook not a great location for that CL appears to be bothering gatei a little bit the inside kicks killing cor’s leg though early right if he does not start checking that he’s going to have no power in his left hand or his jab gatei likes to fight on the inside porier is better at range but at range is where gatei can land those kicks he’s crowding Po’s power he’s keeping him so stuff that he can’t get gatei at the end of his punches and so he’s crowding his power oh nice combination by porier nice long combination was blocked but a nice long combination good jab by gatei both guys landing at a 62% clip here through two minutes eyes starting to shut down for gatei that that left eye is going to get shut he’s not careful he’s got to protect it just Dustin’s already starting to move a little gingerly on that front leg yep it hurts he can’t take many more of those kicks and starting to pick apart now his head’s getting open because he’s worried about the leg kicks that’s what gatei does he chops your legs you’re so worried about Defending Your Legs you leave your head open to get knocked out big deep breath from porier I mean the pace that Justin gate you makes you fight out his crazy he wants to keep punching him so that you get tired that’s what he wants he’s he’s hoping por keeps punching himself out like this at his guard p is doing a good job of returning what he’s getting kicked but he’s got to defend or check these leg kicks and at least in the early going porier willing to fight at Justin Gate’s preferred pace and he just looked at the clock 2 minutes in well certainly Dustin has earned Gate’s respect you saw how quickly he covered up porier doing a good job staying heavy on the offense though he’s Landing right back he’s not stepping back and just eating shots he’s Landing back with gatei this is what we expected these guys fighting in a phone boo yep forier is going to have to get some respect and get Justin moving back a little bit oh oh yeah that was heavy or go to the body that’s why Alvarez had so much success going to the body Yi has absorbed a lot of significant strikes here early 38 to the Head already for porier under 90 seconds round one little slip there by [Applause] gaii forier starting to settle in a little bit rips the body effectively yet again there one of the bigger issues with being able to hit somebody is that you fall in love with it you realize that they’re there to be hit so you start throwing everything with absolute power you got to stay within yourself if your Dustin porier when you’re Landing this many strikes on Justin gatei cuz he’s going to be here he’s going to be here for a while he’s not going out one punch most time and he tries to pressure you so if you do punch it’s not as powerful as you want because he crowds you so you can’t extend your arms out that was a heavy hook though that that poier just landed nice left hook around the ear of gaii in the popping the legate kicks are adding up for gatei though that’s going to really pay dividends in the second round he can survive I mean we got 30 seconds left and G’s eating some shots porier is big and powerful at 155 lbs and of course gate doesn’t cut a lot of weight to make this 156 lb limit no he said that the only year he allamerican wrestle was the year that he just didn’t cut any weight right so he’s taken that approach in his mixed martial arts career too y he said that the guys that are cutting weight fade as he puts the pressure on him that’s what he’s counting on he’s saying I’m going to chop his leg down and tire him out because he’s cutting weight I’m not I’ll have energy in third fourth fifth rounds and he’ll be done and Cho down big hook landed there for gatei in that exchange great first round great first round exactly what we expected boom inside leg kick by Justin gaii over and over boom inside leg kick you you cannot take leg kicks for 25 minutes now Dustin porier had a lot of success whenever he was in the pocket here very interesting to watch them go back and forth Whitman thought gatei won that first round but he said don’t worry about banking rounds just go beat this kid up round two underway now the best coaches in the game don’t just give good advice they they get their fighter hyped up and ready to win when they’re in the most pain and they they’re doubting themselves the most they know how to trigger their brain and get him to kill and gatei said oh what what happened who won that round and he says who cares round you’re going to break him anyway says you’re right and here we are right now and he’s coming heavy with the pressure but don’t forget Dustin Pier’s leg is hurting bad well we saw a few fights ago Jim Miller beat up the lower half of Pier’s leg Dustin was able to win that fight by majority decision but gatei certainly attacking the upper portion the inside of that lead leg on the Southpaw Dustin porier I thought both guys found success in that round gatei did a lot of good work with those leg kicks but also porier did good work with his [Music] boxing Jabba gate is landing a lot as well he’s using using that jab very effective starting to faint now nice level change by porier and that’s that leg that leg’s hurt oh yeah big shot lands for both guys St Dustin poier dealing with an eye poke we’ll see if we can take a look at it porier seems ready to rip you’ve been keeping your hands open a lot you got to you got to keep your hands up that was right in the eye pretty strong warning there from Herb Dean yeah cuz eye pokes will take your whole eye out one eye poke the fight could be over it could be really bad you got to be careful with those pokes you need second to clear your vision right in the eye to a leg kick and then you got to take the leg kick too you know your legs already kind of beat up you get Poke in the eye and you got to take an extra leg kick what a pain going have the doctor look at it come on I can have the doctor with that and now you’re giving Judson gatei a rest from the beating and from the pressure and now he can pressure even more than he did in the first place I think that porier should have kept on the kept going well and I think that’s what Dustin said I don’t want to bring in the doctor I don’t want to give gatei a break but G you give gaii a break that’s the last thing you want to do you got to hope that the damage accumulates on him but if you give him a rest he gets rest from his from the beating is taken two looked like maybe gatei just got warned again a little softer that time by her Dean gatei can throw oh nice combination by poier and he he ate it and then threw a hook and landed his own hook in Po in in gaii I think that’s his best strike I think that’s Gate’s best punch is the left hook okay this legendary chin of Justin gatei has been tested tonight it is held up through the fight’s first seven minutes gatei with the glancing left able to [Applause] land oh wow both Fighters Landing in the pocket I mean it’s crazy watching Justin Gatey fight because this is the way to fight goes every single time they wonder why he’s been in the UFC for three fights and he’s had two main events already because if you want good fights you stick gatei in there first UFC fight was the main event yeah and you put him in there with guys like Dustin porier Eddie Alvarez and Michael Johnson only the second round and PO is starting to look a little bit weathered he’s on his back heel he’s doing good with this jab he’s ripping the body well but that leg hurts and you can see Gatey just kind of getting him to step back and he kind of looks at him like stop kicking me stop he’s going to need him to switch Dustin po he’s got to switch stances oh got to switch stances that leg nice combination ni combination by porier very nice he’s Landing four or five punches in a row and gatei just eats him you got to go to the body if you’re fighting Justin gatei you got to go to the body I think that’s why Eddie Alvarez did so well he invested in the body early gagei could take damage to the head cuz it hurts but if you take away the air out of his lungs that’s the one way you got to fight gaii and for the first time in the fight porier thought there briefly about a strategy change unable to take H down on that attempt porier seems to be moving okay but some significant swelling in it around that right knee nice combination he’s just touched touch touch and then power at the end there he is there goes the switch fighting conventional a little bit look at Po’s inside of his thigh his knee is just super swollen his right leg is the inside of his leg is just swollen not only will this affect his ability to stand but he can’t really set down on his punches and he won’t generate the power that he normally generates because he can’t really get heavy on his leg and por is landing more at at a higher percentage for sure 60 5% for Dustin porier as we approach the one minute Mark here in round two of a possible five I mean through two rounds Dustin porier is over 120 punches landed 120 strikes landed it’s a crazy Pace it’s unbelievable that these guys have to fight 25 minutes he has to go to the body Moore oni’s Only head hunting and that’s a problem right hand lands flush over the top for porier thank you Gate’s body shots are those leg kicks man that’s his investment his investment is in the leg kicks that’s how he slows these guys down and he breaks him [Applause] down oh nice single leg by porier can he finish this that would be no oh El right there good elbow by gatei oh nice now gatei with some uppercuts here in the clinch it’ss up top for gatei oh this is exactly what you want in that third period of a wrestling match and Gage is running back to the center of the matap and porier is looking at it like stop running and these guys are about to meet in the middle and see in this third round let’s see what what this is made of what a show all of these Fighters have put on here in Glendale Arizona tonight round three of a possible five here this is a big round for Dustin forier in terms of him having to dig deep to stay in this fight Justin gatei has some momentum looking at the posture of porier going back to his his seat it wasn’t encouraging if your team D it’s interesting is porier took all the damage to the leg G took all the damage to the head and it looks like the leg damage hurt more than the head damage somehow well it usually does right it usually does especially with a guy like Justin gatei who’s so good at kicking your legs and the cut on the the eye of poier happened very quick at the end of that round he was fine and all of a sudden he’s got this this nasty cut on the left eye and he’s still hasn’t taken one shot yet and porier said he didn’t necessarily fear the one- punch knockout power of Justin gaii but he breaks a lot of guys who say I’ve had enough this guy’s a maniac yes and gatei at his mancal best here tonight under four minutes now round three nicely Ed taked down but it’s so frustrating when you take somebody down and poier wanted just one second to breathe on top of him and he gets right back up nice body shot by poier Dustin keeps pwing at that eye gatei keeps just touching oh that kick he waits for the left hand of por and he fires that inside kick every time and then he just turns the knee out to check right every time Dustin tries to return with a kick he just turns it out to check forier is not seeing that inside leg kick they’re both tired oh those reactions are getting bigger and bigger [Applause] y well a lot of people didn’t think we would get to the three-minute mark of round three both guys have had their moments and slipped the jab and came over with the two and you saw C go whoa whoa whoo whoa whoa what was that he’s hurt big elbow hurt yep he’s stuck on the fence and now he’s hoping he wants to wrestle he’s got to take time he’s got to back up and find some space you can’t try to go head first in here you got to grab Justin gatei is too smart he’s going to pick his shot he won’t waste energy and go crazy he’s going to start hanging on the head elbow and uppercut from here make it dirty keep going to the legs with the knees this is good for Dustin poro being in the clinch being able to hold and try to catch his breath knock the cobwebs off Glendale crowd getting behind one of their own Justin gatei who has started to take control control of this third round porier recognized this that the pace was going to be high he recognized that at times Justin gatei will break you that’s his intent is to break you but at this point right now there isn’t much he can do about it see gaii just heads him off every time you see poier circle out and then gatei walks in front of him again and again he doesn’t follow him at all he always heads you off and keeps you in the box and you saw porier move that right leg back just the thought of eating another one and there goes gatei again perhaps do poier getting a second win here he’s in great shape he came in shape for this fight he hasn’t stopped either he’s fighting his hard out right now G’s Just Landing a little heavier shots those legs and that’s why you’re seeing such an effect on corer it’s the leg shots the crazy thing is we talked about the Eddie Alvarez fight but that was only three rounds I mean these guys have to do this for two more rounds if we get to the corners big deep breath from gatei you’re talking about two of the toughest fighters on this roster top to bottom putting on an absolute show tonight porier now and Dustin porier is landing strikes and shots of his own it’s just that right now he’s wearing the fight on his face and in his reaction is a little bit more than Justin gatei and Trevor Whitman to our immediate right he’s been smiling the whole time under a minute to go round three the leg kicks for gatei 73 per on 51 attempts Trevor smil at me because this is what he sees every day right he knows ultimately what the ending of this type of fight usually is for Justin [Applause] gatei and if you’re Dustin porier right now is not the time to be throwing everything with 100% power oh he’s another eye poke there he may take a point here that’s a big break for Dustin porier not really because right now DC you start feeling that leg you start taking an assessment of your body and how you feel gate is getting a break what’s porier thinking right now is he thinking my eyes hurts or is he thinking my leg hurts he’s taking a [Music] point looks like herbs going to take a point here that’s a big deal you want to see the doctor you’re fine huh wasn’t with the other eye no this one again this the same [Applause] [Applause] one well the crowd doesn’t like it but DC you don’t seem to like it either there was a Stern warning earlier Herb Dean decides to take a point here you have to right if you’re following the rules you get a turn warning and then a point is taken well that has incited the masses in support of just gaii Gate’s pretty angry about that let’s see what he does about it still mad M it himself I know no no I saw I watched it [Applause] watch I can see everybody is it getting better me take the full five minutes he’ be good I’m okay okay that’s F we’ll take one final look at it here he got him in both eyes yeah looked like maybe the other eye but here we go final seconds of round three and that point deduction could end up huge if we do go the distance tonight Justin gatei has really good footwork he does not Chase his opponent [Music] ever look like a poier ey poke at the end of the round [Applause] now up so here we go with round four got to go got to go and potentially a third round there Dom for Justin gatei would have gone into the books as a 99 with a point deduction yeah you don’t know what that’s going to do to the decision but I mean right now I think Gate’s ahead pretty well so we’ll see what happens but now cor’s got one eye poke too so if he pokes gatei back in the eye a second time it could be even on the scorecards with that point deducted from porier too well for Justin gatei despite the fact that he has a lot of experience in five round fights this the first time he SE a fourth big left hand lands by poier he’s looking for the finish here gatei hurt Gate’s hurt bad but he’s been here before Yi nearly out on his feet porier continues to land but he doesn’t have the war with on the Clint DUS goodness oh my gosh he does it he does big punch a fight for the ages in Glendale goes to the louisian Dustin por this one landed clean and right here Justin gatei and all American wrestler never tried to clinch never tried to shoot a double leg he did not have the understanding that I am hurt I need to grab this guy he stayed with what he has always done and tried to brawl and porier is too smart too sharp too accurate and found the kill shot great finish by Dustin porier ladies and gentlemen referee herd Dean has called a stop to this contest at 33 seconds of round number four declaring the winner by TKO Dustin the Diamond [Applause] War
