all right gentlemen you've been through the rules in locker room want to be on my commands at all time about to protect yourselves at all time you want to touch

gloves do it now good luck nice both of you thank you the lightweight title is

vacant it will not be in 25 minutes or fewer

hard to properly describe the atmosphere in this soldout Toyota Center right now

thankful to be here all right you ready as the lightweight division moves on

without Kabib Nurmagome

early leg kick for Olivivera he's in yellow michael Chandler's in white moves right towards him high guard low calf

kick twice i like how he steps in with that knee lifts that left knee up and uses it as a teepee or he can just set

it up for other things that's one of the things that he's done really well that's where he's improved right is everything

up the middle those front kicks those leg kicks he does a lot of things to discourage you from coming forward into

him he's so technical i mean you you can't just explode on him and that's one of the reasons why he's different oh he

clipped couple of left hands from Chandler oh Chandler's got it it's tight

and it's tight it's real tight he's in trouble it's real tight

he might have Looks like Charles is bleeding too oh popped his head out wow that looked real tight well Mike might

have not thought he had it decided not to burn his arms out don't give your back if you're Chandler you cannot give

your back if you're Chandler not to this guy not to Olivivera

that is Listen and this is what Olivivera does he's got Ptos in now he did this to Will Brooks he knows as

wrestlers we go to our knees to try to get up so he forces you in that direction

he's sitting back to make sure that he's not too high he's either going to pull him back or he's going to try to flatten

him forward depending on how Michael reacts to this oh back

but that's terrible he He slammed himself into a deeper body triangle

chandler's never been submitted this his 28th pro fight tonight he's also never fought Charles Olivera

i mean this is the number one submission guy in the history of the UFC

chandler's doing a good job of hand fighting there nice elbow there by Olivivera that was a strong elbow from

the back this is worst case scenario for Chandler

now he's doing a good job of hand fighting it's so important when a guy like this is on your back to just hand

fight make sure you're clearing never allowing him to get started because they if a if a jiu-jitsu guy like this gets

started it's too late you got to be preemptive you've got to make sure they don't even get it going on the road

because we can't catch up and Oliv Oh what an explosion what an explosion

there chandler is just such a gorilla but look Olivivera tries to go to the

legs chandler on top interesting to see whether or not he'll engage him on the ground

big shot from the top by Chandler great shot on top by Chandler those up kicks

that was a massive win for Michael Chandler getting down there early when he was dry surviving and not only

surviving but now being on top being on top with two minutes to go

chandler corner calling for some forward motion here under two minutes to go in the round there's that left hand

he's in real trouble oh Olivivera in the world of trouble early

chandler's power is hurting Olivivera every time he touches him he hurts him

but Olivivera has managed to survive up to now that was that was touch and go right

there i mean the power of Chandler is a sight to behold man

it's very dangerous he's so dangerous he's so strong physically and he has so much belief in

his strength and his ability to fight at a high pace that he won't slow down

usa chance raining down here in Houston just over a minute to go here in round one if I'm Chandler I'm letting him up

i think he just cut him with that elbow as well

chandler's motivation does not seem to be to get this fight upright he had an opportunity a couple minutes ago now

operating inside that closed guard oh big shots

olivivera displaying some heart to stay in this fight and this is where Olivivera will have to

answer a lot of questions because before when things will start to happen like this this is where he struggled

he has not had to deal with this type of adversity on this long run that he's been on

[Applause]

well a round not without adversity for Michael Chandler but he had some huge huge moments

in round one

round two round two let's go fight a standing ovation for the athletes here in Houston as round two gets underway

chandler working off of that jab early oh knock down for now now a knee to the

body for Charles on a right hand chandler retuted [Applause]

champion congratulations

[Applause] my goodness wow it's done how in the

world does it change that fast oh my god that's the game we play right oh my goodness from that round to that he's

got blood on the boss look at that he got blood on the boss wow and when he came to the broadcast

booth he had two words those echoed by Michael Chandler on Fight Island

surprise surprise charles Oliver is the champ is the champion look at him look

at him dancing oh my god how happy is he we haven't seen this since Jose Aldo

beat Chad Mendes and he ran out into the crowd in real crazy oh my goodness

charles Olivivera what a performance i mean what a comeback from that

disastrous end of the first round to stop Michael Chandler in the second like that i mean jeez louise my goodness

well we all remember Michael Bisping breaking through towards the end of his career it took Charles Olivera 28 UFC

fights just to get a title fight nearly got knocked out in round one the lightweight division belongs to Charles

Olivera wow well here's what's crazy that left hook was crazy charles Olivera is only 31 years old nobody's took

longer Joe to get from their debut to a title nobody has took longer than D

Bronx i mean what a performance hey it looked bad at the end of round one that

left hook stunned Chandler and then he went in finish mode let's take a look at it because I want to see it again

because it was so crazy it was so crazy the way it went down it's so crazy ola

with a crisp left foot look at that sits him down i mean perfect technique as we were saying about Olivivera he doesn't

extend himself with anything he's never out of line look how he's throwing these shots look at this look at his Look at

his right hand see where his right hand was perfect right where it's supposed to be it's always where it's supposed to be

everything's perfect look at that right hand boom on the top chases him down there's a left hook i mean everything is

picture perfect and big Dan Mgliotta seen enough

unbelievable can you believe it though it's so crazy when it happens like that fast that's that's where the issue is

right it's when you see Charles Olivivera get beat up in the way that he did in round one for that to switch that

quickly and he is now the champion so crazy one final time tonight here is

Bruce Buffer ladies and gentlemen referee Dan Mgliata has called a stop to

this contest at 19 seconds of round number two declared the winner by TKL

and new

undisputed UFC lightweight champion of the world

Charles Dubra [Applause]

great and we are underway solid white trunks for the Brazilian

Olivea white and black trunks for Darren Elkins

elkins grabs a hold of him he's got him up and down big take down but

immediately look how he scramles to guard look at this spectacular jiger

he's got it locked up Mike right away on the back of the head Joe alo turning it

into an arm bar he's got a triangle and an arm bar combination elkins is in all

kinds of trouble oh he's done wow

it is all over the hype is for real man

that kid locked up that triangle so fast wow

welcome to the UFC

that was beautiful

charles Olivera taken down and then we saw the great work off the bat and you

know effortless Mike so beautiful look how good his technique is here elkins

gets a hold of him dumps him but immediately look how Oliver scrambles right to guard and then he's in this

position he's got that right arm tied up slaps that leg over the left slaps it back on look at that look at that

triangle woo adjust it pulls his foot down he's turning them he's got the arm and

the triangle together wrapped up he controls the leg see he's got that left under hook on the leg there's beautiful

technique here i mean he's just doing everything perfect yeah i mean just just

really fantastic the way he did it attacked with the arm and the triangle at the same time and controlled that leg

outstanding technique by this young Charles Olivera with the official decision here is Bruce Buffer

ladies and gentlemen referee Herb Dean has called a stop to this contest at 41 seconds of the very first round declared

the winner by tap out due to an arm bar charles de Brouta

like Joe said he had the triangle and he had the arm finishes with the armbar

nick Lance Charles Olivera four years or just under since they met

the first time up a division at 155 lbs they meet again

[Music]

the biggest difference from their first fight is the footwork and striking of Nick Lent

he was very predictable previously and he has changed up a lot of his takedowns to be body lock takedowns he feels like

he passes the guard more naturally with those type of takedowns and as coach Mike Brown said the big rule for this

fight is do not be inside the guard of Charles Alivera lent came in having

attempted 137 takedowns in 14 UFC fights an average of nearly 10 attempts per fight

you know and he's known as a grinder but I think he's really left that behind when you watch his fights against Chad

Mendes and especially Manny Gambiran he showcased a whole new level with his striking

and now he's got to be careful here alive Vera has one of the most wicked guillotines in the game nice work there

from Nick Lent you got to imagine he trained and drilled defense to that choke constantly in this camp

charles Olivivera actually hasn't finished a fight by guillotine but a number of other different submissions

11 career wins by submission in six different ways and he'll use that guillotine he changed it he actually

gets an anaconda and then wraps his legs around he calls it the Bronx choke

but I asked about the threat of the taked down from Nick Lenson he said he did not care you come to the ground you come into my world he is very confident

off his back [Applause]

nick nice work there from Lent as soon as Ala

gets an arm over his neck he's immediately moving here's the ever improving wrestling game of Alivera that

he showcased against Jeremy Stevens here he's working for the anaconda choke now he switched to a guillotine

oh a beautiful knee to the body followed by an elbow excellent transitions for Charles Alivera and Lent able to eat it

without issue if you stand in front of Alivera he'll chew you up nick Lent's coaches said

expect him to be cutting angles the entire time

both guys starting to land at a pretty decent clip yeah Lent is having a lot of success with his punches right now olive

stands so tall and doesn't move his head nick Lent really find his target

charles Olivivera a seventime UFC performance bonus winner

oh big right hand from Nick Lent you could see immediately Lent is

rotating his head out of that grip

good knee to the body is there for Charles Olivivera and he continues to search for that anaconda choke but he's

got so many tricks up his sleeves you just have to be careful i know some were surprised to see

Charles Olivivera installed as a near three to one favorite

[Music] oliver is hurt something happened to his eye

[Music] you can see he's continuing to wipe it referee has not stopped the action though oh huge right hand on the heels

of the knee that landed for Olivivera now a big elbow olive is just standing there and taking

one to give a few well to this point the rematch has been worth the wait man outstanding and that right hand finds a

home followed by a left though from Nick Lent oh huge elbow upstairs for Olivivera

oh he's down down goes Lent knee to the body for Olivera lens trying to stay in the fight he's got to be careful of

submission now olive wrap up his neck quick

brutal body strike from Charles Alivera crowd here waiting to explode under a

minute now to go in round one wow and it looks like Nick Lent will survive for now ala's pass the guard

man Nick Lent one tough customer charles Olivera now taking control of

the round olive has got his arm snaked through he's looking for an arm triangle choke nice defense there from Nick Lens

alive is going right back to the body beautiful knee to the body for Olivivera

[Applause] just not allowing Nick Lynch to recover very smart now he's got the full mount

we'll see if Lent can survive the final 10 excellent job of Nick Lent to control those wrists and extend Alivea he at

least minimized the damage [Applause] [Music]

[Applause] well you know Sean Shelby smiling

somewhere in Las Vegas this was a fight he worked hard to keep together a rematch so many fight fans wanted to see

after the no contest back in 2011 and they are right back after it to begin round two i'll tell you John these two

should fight every year nice job and Nick Lent to close the distance and just stop the onslaught

olive was really finding his home with the right hand lent very alert and receptive to his

corner's instructions after round one and the guys at talk about how strong the body lock is in Nick Lens and you

see there he lands and Oliver is trying at least get the full guard and he does that's a big failure by Nick Lent they

favored the body lock because he could avoid the guard now he's in half guard nice work there from Nick

[Music] oliver is such a hard guy to neutralize off of his back he's just so wy yeah and

just always working you know if he's not improving position he's throwing an elbow at your mug i mean he's blending

up the face of Nick Lent right now from bottom

lince has got to get some shoulder pressure that right shoulder and free up that left hand and throw some strikes

he's trying to lock down the right arm of Olive here with his right hand in the armpit very nice job he passes

nice work there from Nick Lens short ela

[Music]

[Applause] really minimized the damage he could have taken there oh but right on his

face that couldn't have felt good we'll see

if Lent can take advantage just as I talked about how he minimized the damage from the ground and pound he got body

slammed right on his mug couple nice up kicks for Olivivera

god these two just must hate each other there's not a position they don't smash each other in well and you know the

stakes are are so high tonight i think their performance is reflected certainly and and Nick Lent has got a very good

guillotine he's not going for it just yet he's trying to get high on the head but Oliver looks like he may be able to

slip out that is Olivivera or excuse me Lent's preferred submission now it's only going

to get tighter from this position yeah he's got the hands separated though

crowd reacts as Olivivera gets out of harm's way but Lent continues to apply pressure

[Music] much better ground and pound this transition from Nick Lens see if he goes

back to those elbows just any space you give Olive when you're on top of him he's able to

recover position so quickly [Music]

under two minutes now to go in round two non-stop action through the fight's first eight minutes some nice right

hands there alo is going to go for a heel hook he's going to use this to come back up on top

[Music] what a nice left hook from 50/50

[Music] lent has got to be careful here

he's got his weight firmly he's going to try and spin all the way around he's able to do it alive may be able to get up here nice hustle there from Nick Lent

really nice job by Lent he's starting to wear down Alive a little bit with this grinding style he's

been able to avoid the submission attempts by keeping him stuffed up against the fence

boy another back and forth fight some nice adjustments made here in round two by Nick Lent

[Applause]

[Music]

finally Olivivera back to his feet takes a lot of energy and strength to do that nick Lent knows he's draining the

battery right now of Charles Alivera

olivivera attempts nearly three submissions per 15 minutes but a strong

close to round two for the Carney Nick Lent [Music]

[Music] [Applause] third and final round nick Lent Charles

Olivera but it appeared like Oliver was getting tired after round two but he got up and

on his stool and he wasn't even breathing Nick Lent looking a little bit sloppy on

his feet right now [Applause] that was a draining round there round

two oh and another big knee to the body for Alivera

[Music]

lens able to drag Olivivera down there d Bronx back to his feet and here's where he's got that's tight that is He's on

around the back of the head nick Lens could go out here that's extremely tight

wow oliver staying committed to the submission here you can see the agony on

the face that's it charles Olivivera closes the rivalry with a huge

submission win here at home what a fight

it's only a matter of time if you allow that man to wrap his arms around your neck it's only a matter of time before

he puts you out lent expended so much energy offensively

in round two and to your point in that third round Olivivera appeared to be the fresher fighter out of the shoot

another outstanding finish and presumably bonus coming for Charles Olivera you see in terms of the most

submissions in UFC history Olivivera moves into a tie

for third place all time just so active in transition hits that knee to the body

gets Nick Lent's head down for a second after that knee and sets up this guillotine and there's just it's hard to

find anybody better when it comes to that front headlock position and these chokes this kid is vicious nick Lens

gutted out for as long as he could but was forced to tap outstanding fight both guys i don't care what their rank have

these two fight once a year John unbelievable show put on by those two gentlemen here tonight

bruce Buffer has the official decision ladies and gentlemen referee Kevin McDonald has called to stop this contest

at 1 minute 10 seconds of the third round declaring the winner by tap out

due to a guillotine choke charles Drosa

[Applause] and these are a couple of bonus machines 10 for Olivivera nine for Guida 19

combined $950,000 in bonus money between these two fighters and we are underway guuit in

white Charles Olivivera wearing yellow and if you haven't seen it before if you think that walk-in is going to cost him

energy this guy has an endless gas tank during the fight as well yeah I mean that's just warming him up getting him

loose and constant pressure from Klay Guided and what we've seen as you you

brought up John is that they refined his striking and team alpha males really put

together his game and I also think that being around that amazing camp of killers has reignited his enthusiasm

curious thing to me is he's always had a herkyjerky kind of style very very hard to time can he be more refined in his

striking and yet keep that unorthodox movement that throws guys off well it certainly looked like he had that in the

Joe Lozan fight and he's doing well here but we're seeing what we see from

Charles Olivera which is like very smooth technical striking always in a

good position excellent footwork very relaxed in there nice leg kick by Olivivera and blocks the counter right

hand afterwards he's very smooth and very well polished like the way he's holding his hands the way he engages and

then slides out of range of the counterattack throwing that front kick down the middle i mean he's just a very

very polished fighter and when he's at his best he's one of the best in this division and potentially at 145 he can

go back down there and make that weight nice left hand by Charles Olivivera fighting out of that patented upright

stance and it's interesting for Klay Wii he's one of the most prolific takedown artists in UFC history but perhaps he'll

have some pause strategically joe given how good Olivivera is and comfortable off of his back yeah he's no picnic off

his back he's almost more dangerous on the ground than he is standing up guuit's already cut looks like so with

the right eye i think it might have been one of those jabs that opened him up one thing about Guid Styles he comes in he

runs into a lot of shots even the jab can do a lot of damage two minutes gone by in this opening

round pretty nasty cut too that Guided is dealing with

oh nice knee oh he clipped him with that right hand there's that guillotine and Olivivera's guillotine is nasty what

he's great at it is so nasty this is terrible there's the tap charles

Olivivera by submission that's got a familiar tone to it is exactly what we were saying this guy is terrible to to

have on his back he's so good off of his back and he's so good at cinching up

submissions his game is so technical when it comes to his jiu-jitsu when it came to the stand up it was the jab that

cut him he was having success there but as soon as he dove in Charles Oliver look at his frame that dude is strong

deceptively strong and as soon as he was in that guillotine man that pressure was incredible but I like what I saw in the

stand up this is what cut him bam ran right into the jab yeah and look how he slides away hands

up i mean everything he does is so technical patient cerebral that was his

approach tonight and I like this combination on feet he's right in front of Shan Shelby right now right next to

me shaking his hand but here's the guillotine look at this guard pull this is confidence those long legs 100%

commitment with the hips klay Guida held out as long as he could but once you're in there that is it we knew he had

skills they were on display tonight ladies and gentlemen referee Herb Dean has called a stop to this contest at 2

minutes 18 seconds of the very first round declaring the winner by submission due to a guillotine choke Charles Dubro

[Music] jim Miller's in the building 31st UFC

appearance for him no one has had more UFC fights than Jim Miller he's in blue charles Dub Branch Olivera is in yellow

last meeting between these two fighters UFC 124 December 2010 jim Miller with a

win by Miar less than two minutes into round one

and this is exactly what you want to do if you're Jim Miller you want to pressure him but what an attempt by Charles Oliver way to change levels and

take Jim Miller's back charles Oliver wasting oh man you don't want him on You don't want him on your

back like this that under the chin oh my goodness you don't want him on your back like this it's not under the chin

miller has to attack that top hand oh he's got that leg right in got a half

Nelson on the far side makes it hard for Jim to turn back to his left that half Nelson makes sure he can't turn oh now

he's going back to the choke hands all over jim Miller throwing attempts on

both sides oh he's in trouble it's over it's over it's over w from Jim Miller trying to fight off this it's over it's

over he's not even fighting the hands oh trying behind the head yet oh yeah it's over it's over there's the T charles

does it again wow and he had already broken the record right wow unbelievable

the man with the most submissions in UFC history in any division adds to that

total here tonight as he returns the favor and makes quick work of the

eternally durable Jim Miller how about Don here we go you see Jim Miller goes for

that big inside leg kick he gets double under hooks now Jim Miller was doing a good job of preventing that slam by

having that inside hook charles Ava was patient held him up cleared the hook and slammed him down immediately threw both

hooks in took his back sunk in this choke this was about his second or third attempt at this rear naked choke and

once he had it man his squeeze is relentless and you see Jim Miller's face getting red forced to tap impressive

submission to victory by Charles Oliva ladies and gentlemen referee Keith Peterson has called a stop to this

contest at 1 minute 15 seconds of the very first round you're including the winner by submission due to a rear

decked show the Brooks [Applause]

and evenly matched according to the guys in Las Vegas as well charles Oliveta in the gold minus 130 as the favorite david

Tamer plus 110 as the underdog he's in the black the most intense staredown at

weigh-ins yesterday without question these two want to get at each other yeah there was no love loss yesterday the

thing about David Tamer is his kicking is just sensational most people when they throw a kick they kind of telegraph

it a little bit they'll take a step tamer with the kickboxing background boom the kick just goes there's no

telegraph see look at that kick up top and perhaps an eye poke out by Tamer

if it's the toe in the eye and we saw it recently with Katano a toe in the Oh sorry pardon me it was a

finger my bad let's take another look at it we have a eye poke while he's being pushed away after his kick was caught ah

yeah that was clear two fingers it looked like as well well that's a shame

that's a real shame well so time to recover given here for Charles Olivivera

no coaching no coaching new rules in effect and that's where it comes into play according to the fingers you cannot

have your fingers outstretched no fingers out hands in preparing i'm sure it was by accident and I understand what

Tamer was doing you throw a kick it didn't land charles is trying to advance as we said before you don't want him to

clinch so he was trying to push him away but it looked like two fingers went in each eye or or a finger in each eye

pardon me let's take another look thank you

throws the kick down tries to push it oh that looked pretty deep as well that's a

heavy one yeah that was bad doctor called in to take a look and he's

taking a look at both eyes well Oliver smartly taking his time here

five minutes with which to recover and a lot of fighters will kind of rush back into it don't want to get their opponent

time to rest and that sort of thing but so early in the fight you might as well just push it back by a few minutes you have to take your time in these

situations and you've got to be careful what you say as well sometimes a fighter they might be just maybe they're trying

to buy time and they mention that they're having vision problems if you say that the doctor's going to call the

fight off if you say "Oh I can't see out of my eye." But you mean you what you mean is it's just blurry the doctor will

call the fight off so you got to be really careful what you say okay but that was a bad one that was one of the

worst eye pokes I've seen well Charles Oliva in his 35th professional fight

and his 21st UFC appearance so he has been around the block

okay he's okay olivia Charles Olivia you know the problem is when you start

fighting sometimes from an eye your vision isn't quite clear and then take a point from this round the opponent takes

advantage i know it wasn't intentional but it impacted the fight okay I'm taking a point come on come on i have to

i have to wow where's my first charge one point high eye poke that's huge and

that is a big moment so early in the fight with the new rules in effect including those eye pokes that is a foul

intentional not intentional as we heard Jiren Val say it's affecting the fight so he takes the point well it is

affecting the fight and it looks like it's still affecting Charles because he's still wincing he's still rubbing

his eyes i know it was unintentional here we go ready you know to be honest I agree i agree you got to take control of

your next question you got to control your hands control your fingers saying it was an accident not good enough and

then now he tries to call his own time out no no no what is going on

i don't know if that was an eye poke though well Jiren Valle says "Let me call the timeouts." It's on the referee

to call the timeouts and not the fighter 100% tamer should have carried on there well either way a point has been taken

away from David Tamer and unlike boxing you got three rounds to work so if you lose a point in a round a lot less

ground to make it up off the feet for a moment was Charles Oliveta and now he says "Let's bring it on let's

get to action." I just had a look at the replay in the monitor of the second eye and it was

definitely an eye which is very unfortunate again not on purpose these things happen with the small gloves but

these guys are throwing down now look at Oliver oh wow a big shot by Tamer sends

Oliver to his back beautiful left hand puts him down but this is not a good position oliver is still in the fight

he's still in the game throwing nice downward elbows and watch this good job

by Tamer wow and Tamer's opened up as well look at that on the inside of his right eye elmo but that was a beautiful

left hand that he landed holy feta for a moment was inviting him into the pool but returns to his feet 90 seconds in

we've seen a lot already superman punch attempt there

there's a lot of blood coming out the eye of Tamer yeah Olivia is not scared after dealing with the power shot of

Tamer moving forward swinging heavy and that's what Oliver is trying to do just just get hold of him any way possible

get hold and go to work nice punch punch there from Olivetto

we've seen that a couple of times beautiful footwork though you see the way that Tamer had pivoted he was

against the fence moving fast i need you to defend yourself at all times do you understand gentlemen we're going to fight clean here we go ready fight you

know Oliver can't do this you can't command when the fight stops you can't choose to take a break

oola that was a take down a nice reversal from Tamer for the moment but Olivivera going to work in his office

swings to the back oh here we go this is what he does

control david Tamer is no stranger here though he knows what he's doing he's well

prepared and that's the problem with attacking legs when you attack the legs you're open to a hammer fist or some

form of ground and pound olivia sees the moment to explode back to his feet and

does so halfway through the first round body kick there from Olivetto you know Tamer's going to close those

hands though he's still got his fingers outstretched he's already lost a point

[Applause]

and David Tamer part of a brother tandem in the UFC his older brother Daniel Tamer

also a UFC fighter

believe he'll get back to action in Prague in a few weeks this is the right thing to do if you're a tamer you got to

use a lot of footwork a lot of movement dance around the outside of the octagon let Charles come in fire your shots and

then move but that was big that was a big knee you see the look on Tamer's face he fell

that one for a guy who's got the submission record put some striking on

display as well nice crunch with the right hand hey Charles isn't a one-trick pony he does have knockouts excellent

Muay Thai from the clinch he's very dangerous with elbows he's looking for that right hand oh another knee and that

lands to the chin as well

tamer showing some durability taking some shots yeah he's going to have their moments

olive looks confident here though nice one two there

spin and a ticko in the spinning back fist beautiful

tamer's going to try and take some control back he's on the retreat here he's eating shots and he's not running

away but he's he's retreating and circling constantly you got to try and command a little bit of respect in there

you got to That was nice that was a good body shot but you got to try and get some respect back piss him with something sting him let him know hey

don't keep walking me down like this you you woke me down you're going to pay for it he did early in this first round with

a knockdown wait for the knee heavy strike but since then Ole Petta it's

been all confidence moving forward 15 seconds

it's a wild first round nice combination there from Tamer looping left hand and calls him forward

nice kick five minutes but then these guys went for it yeah and look at the

right eye of David Tamer partially closed it appears from some damage yeah

it's really hard fighting with one eye

you have experience in a lot of different areas my friend unfortunately that's why we're happy you're here me

and you both brother [Applause]

but that was a big round for Charles there i mean both guys had their moments but I feel that Charles kind of dictated

the action a little bit and who knows how the judges saw it of

course there were big moments for Tamer in that first round with the knockdown but he did lose the point so at at the very least it's a 9 round but perhaps a

108 and a forearm shiver there from Oolto this is it who's letting it go

charles Ool trying to end the fight tamer with the Hail Mary

trying for another submission and there is the turn he continues to pile onto

his record charles Dona absolutely incredible hurt him on the

feet swarmed on him with the punches and then got the choke that is how it's done

perhaps we're looking at four for four in bonuses and victories here it is beautiful up elbow wobbles

him he's very hurt there uppercut landed there's another look at that elbow that was beautiful and here's an uppercut and

then he just swarms tamer turns his back the referee actually you know it was good he let them fight but he could have

stopped that there and then boom uppercut all over him here tamer doesn't

know what's going on oliver is having a field day grabs the neck and then once

you're rocked once you're wobbled like this you've got no no sense of really what's going on so it's no surprise that

he got the submission ladies and gentlemen the income comes officially 55 seconds round number two submission by

Anaconda for your winner from S paulo Brazil charles Dol

[Applause] Bron Olivera

18 wins by submission including 13 in the UFC jared Flash Gordon meanwhile

does not care about any of it yeah certainly doesn't straight away walking

him down getting in his face gordon saying this week "A violent

bloody fight is what I'm after." He came down to Sa Paulo two years ago in October of 2017 look at that look at

that straight away gordon trying to get the taked down which is a really surprising move but he

said "I train with better guys than Olivera and I smashed him on a daily basis."

Out of Rufus Sport in Milwaukee Wisconsin is Jared Gordon that gym is 2-0 against Charles Oliveta anthony

Showtime pettis had a victory against Dub Bronx as did Paul Felder and Felder

goes down as Oliveta's last loss yeah and Gordon said this week he said "I've got to watch him in the first

round he comes out hard and fast." He said "After that he tends to slow down he tends to fade." I'm not necessarily

sure if I agree with that assessment but so far I mean maximum respect he's not playing it soft he's not being cy he's

getting right in his face and he's taking the fight to Charles well since that loss to Felder Charles Oliveta

hasn't really needed to go deep in fights five straight wins all of them finishes the latest one coming in the

second round and that body shot there that Olivera just threw look for him to throw that a lot he was on Instagram if

you give him a follow you see he's been working on that a lot it's out power from Charles Holy another knockout his

second of the year this guy continues to get it done and the crowd are going

absolutely crazy my word everybody is on their feet

man [Applause]

well still plenty of energy left and for a guy who's known for his submissions

two knockout victories in 2019 not bad

well what did I tell you he's been training with shooter marks and the proof is in the pudding gordon pushes forward and then bang right hand on the

money gordon went down and he got back up and a little uppercut put him to sleep beautiful shot there take one more

look gordon gets up but that little short uppercut put him down and then that one that one it was good night

Irene bang right hand goes down gets up bang down again you ain't getting up

after that one ladies and gentlemen referee Osiris Maya has called a stop to this contest at 1 minute 26 seconds of

the very first round declaring the winner by knockout

Charles [Applause]

UFC in his native Brazil's Charles Olivera kevin Lee meanwhile has never lost abroad let's go two wins early in

his career at North of the Border two wins in the UFC outside the country our fight clock is brought to you by Dave

and Busters straight away straight away Charles coming in with the unorthodox strikes i mean that's the thing he's got

jumping front kicks flying knees spinning wheel kicks i mean he he does not stick to the rule book he landed a

nice jab as well already

off the ground again that connected nicely very has not wasted time on his sixight

win streak he has ended all of them inside the distance

his last one in the first round two before that in the second round he is a

bonus machine in with a left hook there

five performance of the night bonuses in his last six fights six in his last eight for Charles Olivivera

really nice job there that Charles is using as well utilizing that weak advantage but there's the right hand from Kevin Lee that's what you got to be

careful of kevin does pack a lot of power charles doing a really good job mixing things up there going to the leg

throwing the jab coming with knees and jumping attacks with a nice jab and then a one two opens

himself up for a single leg though kevin gets on top nicely done watch this watch

those ankles he's trying to get it out i Olivivera with a hold of it for now he

needs to get it to the other side but now we're looking at an inverted heel hook kevin wisely does that but now he can go

to a regular heel hook he's going to s that leg out

le's right leg out of danger just for a moment hammer fist from the bottom there from Olivivera

nice scramble there by Kevin Lee and a lot made for the jiu-jitsu of Charles Olivivera and why not he is a black belt

alltime submissions leader but Kevin Lee a decorated wrestler in his own right yeah nicely defended by Kevin you see

Charles still looking for a foot but he's also thinking about taking the back right on Q there it is going to hold on

to him there because right now he can't secure this position he needs the legs wrapped around him

so Lee out of danger for the moment olivivera was loading up the right elbow but only the back of the head exposed by

Kevin Lee he's trying to get that left arm nicely done Kevin almost into mount

so Lee now steps over but still cautious here with his leg

locked up now once again going for the inverted tri h sorry pardon me heel hook

halfway through the first of five possible rounds here this is what you got to be careful of i mean it's the oldest saying in the book be careful

when you go for heel hooks but you got to be careful when you go for heel hooks

le now trying to escape this one yeah Lee's pretty much out here this is kind of a just a formality charles is holding

on to him hammer fist from the bottom once again

from Olivet two minutes to go in the first round

this is a really good confidence builder for Kevin he got taken down in the first round charles tried a number of

techniques kevin was able to defend them all so that's a very good positive sign maybe

he'll let loose with the striking a little bit more in round two if he makes it to round two of course if Charles

makes it to round two each of these guys capable at ending the fight at any time y

okay so Leang leg is now out of danger but yeah in the full guard of Charles Olivera not necessarily the safest place

to be he's got that arm isolated on the right side he's letting go now but see he's trying to bring the legs over

trying to get the triangle there it is kevin knew it was coming be out of danger there and now another scramble

and now Oly Vera on top kevin still on the back here yeah you know the jiu-jitsu of Charles Olivera is just

absolutely beautiful to watch i mean the moves that he pulls off and he just makes it look absolutely effortless

which is the key to good jiu-jitsu i mean the skill level is insane he's not using strength he's just flowing look at

that he's throwing the triangle up kevin brings the left arm in which removes the threat of the triangle nicely done

so now top control here from Lee so far on the ground though it's just Lee defending submission attack after

submission attack he's landed a couple of hammer fist a couple of strikes here and there but nothing too significant ke

trying to pass he postured up for a moment his right

leg now out of the grass big right hands

holy Vera eats him throws the legs back up again to get back full guard final 10 seconds coming up here round one

heavy elbows from Lee nice work 30 second break here we're

back on ESPN with round two after this

top 10 charles Oliver wants to get there fight let's go

kevin Lee in the black a minus 150 favorite here charles Oliver plus 120 at

home in Brazil that was a really strong way for Kev to finish you know he defended multiple

attacks landed a good right hand there defended multiple submission attacks and ended in the guard landing heavy shots

that sends a message to Charles said "Listen you ain't going to get me you're going to have to fight me the old fashioned way which is on the feet."

Charles typically when he gets those finishes he gets them early in the fight they don't really come whoa big right

hand there for Kevin Lee nice combination there much to the point for Razah Harvey saying "Listen he can't

take your shots." They didn't think the game plan of Olivivera was to take him down but that

Charles chose to do so after he felt the power of Kevin Lee meanwhile Olivivera lands there yeah I was going to say it's Charles that's pushing forward here

landing some decent shots little left hook there lands and a good right as

well and an uppercut to lead that exchange for Olivivera who continues to work that right hand and this is the

kind of fight Kevin Lee likes he's happy to stand in the pocket and trade like this

body kick that time as Olivivera get busy here in the early going round number two look at that uppercut buckles

lead to the right hand double right hand there beautiful work he's moving the head because he needs to i think he's

hurt pump out the jab comes over the top of

the right does Lee charles is looking comfortable here in Kevin the body language the look on his face he's not

in a good place right now he's eating some heavy shots he's packing up trying to buy some time charles is growing in

confidence here started to mix it up kevin's giving him the time he's giving him the time to take his time and pick

his shots and to use the full arsenal of attacks

oh Lee lands with a right hand here so too does Olivivera charles just ate that though and fired back straight away

kevin's look a little loose on the feet and it's him that goes for the taked down which is kind of like the exact opposite of what FAR said in the middle

of the round and there's the arm bar it's tight trying to lock up that right arm of an platter there nicely defended

there i thought that was going to be the end and now we got a triangle kevin's right into the triangle he let it go

he's re reestablished it weird transition there he let it go thought he was going to go to an plata but well

done for Kevin lee has the body lock here as he returns to his feet oliver Vera unable to fend

him off and another taked down by Lee nicely done done there by Kevin very very good work on top here good position

half guard slowed down a little bit as well you can see the movement and the submission

attempts it's not like it was in the first round you know that does require a lot of energy

[Music] lee top half guard here with two minutes

to go getting the shoulders involved here as he looks to stay busy enough to keep the

fight on the ground

[Applause] and Lee landed that first takedown in this round

at the perfect time when Oolivera was throwing a knee got himself just enough

off balance for Lee to put him to his back two for two unofficially on taked downs

for Kevin Lee yeah again like the first round Kev is doing a good job now he's controlling

him slowing him down as I as I said a moment ago charles isn't throwing up the wild submission attacks like he were

before they're both eating some shots they both got that initial adrenaline spike that's kind of you know calmed

down a little bit now and now we're into a strategic fight one which now Kevin is slowly starting

to take over in round two more than a round of ground control time for Kevin

Lee as we approach one minute to go round number two [Music]

and now head position to keep right where he wants him [Music]

lee content to kind of keep that right leg put you know we've seen people beat Charles

Lea like this i mean think of the win that Paul Felder had you know sat in the guard guard beat him up with elbows

played it him at his own game on the ground and won a decision but here we go

kevin Lee's getting off some good shots here he's looking for the up kick or a heel

hook I think hammer fist from the bottom from Oliveta final 20 seconds round number two

nice elbows

yeah the movement is definitely a lot different at the end of round two than what it was in one that's got to favor

Kevin Lee going into round three 10 minutes are in the books we're going

to keep it right here on ESPN and he's trying to encourage him telling him that he's going to win that he won that round

i'm not sure if he did to be honest but again a confident start by Olivivera he loves that jump in from He certainly

does meanwhile Kevin Lee lets the head kick go that time

and busy on the feet are each of these guys to start round three haymaker from Lee yeah that hand is connecting every

time oh got to watch that neck kevin Lee caught down this is bad here he's going

to be forces the tap charles Ooliver another submission he extends the record

the biggest win of his career comes tonight

yes you did watch the video just that quickly and Kevin Lee is unsure of what

happens kevin Lee's argument saying that never topped i beg to differ

unfortunately the tape shows that he definitely did top let's take a look at the replay

so Kevin goes in he lands the right hand and he's trying to mix things up grabs that leg drives in for the single trying

to switch it to a double but Charles obviously this is what he does he takes the neck he wraps it up he gets full

guard and that was under the chin and here it is hold on there's the tap i mean there there's no argument there

there's no discussion there is absolutely no discussion there there's like five or six taps kevin is

like "No no no no no no no i'm trying to take his back." Ladies and gentlemen the

income comes officially 28 seconds round number three the submission by guillotine for your winner from Saro

Brazil Charles Dro

all right gentlemen we know the rules protect yourself at all times follow my instructions going to keep it clean

touch gloves and let's do it the moment is upon us

155 lbs ubiquitously regarded as one of if not the deepest toughest division in

mixed martial arts in the UFC they are all chasing that man Charles Dub Bronx Olivivera slight underdog plus 115

tonight first defense of his title against a man trying to complete his

mission and Dustin Porier porier the southpaw is in red charles Olivera in

the black and gold befitting a champion early right hand gets through for Dub Bronx

now an elbow from Charles oh oh Justin hurt him quick

the power of Porier i mean the guy hits so hard

[Applause]

oh with a good clean right hand

namov b old character since 1872 [Applause]

oh good night by Forier oh good knee to the body by Olivivera

and then a front kick to the body one thing you can't do if you're Dustin Porier is load up and if you're Charles

Olivera you can't take too many clean shots man you got to be tight cuz Dustin will shut your lights off one thing that

Olivivera does perhaps better than Dustin is he mixes his weapons up it's

not a one-dimensional attack right there knee to the body throws a lot of kicks and you don't know what's coming

it's very multi-dimensional high pace through 90 seconds already 25

connections for Porier oh nice uppercut from the champ

that's what I was wondering how soon we see Olivivera trying to get a taked down he's trying to step around here if he

can get his left leg behind Dustin Pory he'll start to circle him back off the side of the octagon and this is where

his takedowns come from they don't come from the double leg they're always around your body and he uses his length

and leverage to get you to the ground look at that beautiful job by Dustin of

adjusting [Applause] oh another knee in the body those are nasty just perfect timing with those

knees too straight right front kick oh and now a left hand this is what we've

said about Olivivera just so crisp with his technique

porier back to work off of his jab two and a half gone by round one oh good

left hand by Porier and a right hook by Porier he's hurting Olivivera bad

and now he switched to conventional to throw the overhand right oh big right hand over the top he's in trouble oh

Olivivera is in real trouble switch knee to the body for Charles

those knees another knee to the body and the pace my goodness

pretty good head movement there by Porier under two minutes in the round this is a crazy high pace short uppercut

is true for Olivivera who's already landed nine times to the body of Porier [Applause]

oh beautiful front kick to the liver oh

there's a big right for Porier oh

oh man's in real trouble here yeah but you got to be very careful you dusty porier here and he wisely welcomes

Oliver back to his feet porier with a big deep breath he's

taking a lot of body shots this long [Applause]

plenty of time to work look at this crazy numbers round one

oh beautiful straight left by Porier and I'm not just walking him down though the power difference is huge

that one snapped Olivivera's head back charles counters with an elbow

and Charles with a one two and a kick to the body again well Olivivera's willingness to just stand in there and

take these shots is surprising you would think he'd be trying to get more taked downs forier is landing big shots

and there's such a difference in the reaction like when Porier hits him he gets stunned but he's goes right back in

there oh my goodness

under 30 seconds oh my goodness is cracking him and he's lining him up for a big one

oh Alo caught him oh my goodness this is crazy round of fight this pace

is insane nobody can keep this pace for 25 minutes

[Applause] that front kick to the body over and over and over again what a round what a

start he gave him a look in that corner annic round two of a possible five could you

imagine no i don't see how this can go five but

I've been wrong before olivivera's corner wants him to use more front kicks that front kick up the

middle is an outstanding weapon and Dustin tends to stand a little square [Music]

oh my goodness when they're in tight Oliver does a really good job of landing these yeah

and there's another one to the legs he He throws them up high he throws him to the body in there

trying to drag Poier to the ground here he's got his hands locked he's going to take it back to not careful

not maybe want anywhere near y

he's looking for an arm bar looking for a little He's He's not high enough on the shoulder no but he's trying to keep

Dustin in close but he's holding on to the glove in an illegal way you see the way he's pulling the glove like that oh

man oh my goodness he's cuffing he cuffed his fingers underneath the glove to achieve that

position there was something there was something to that position that made Dustin roll i don't know why he would

have rolled instead of just keep pulling the arm back didn't seem as though Porier protested

the glove grab

i mean we'd have to look at it real closely but in my eyes that's what was happening

what are you trying to do if you're porier here Joe well either offensively he's got to let go of that triangle you

can't get offensive with the triangle guard so we're looking at another cop yeah it

looks to me like he's holding it illegally he's got his fingers underneath the cuff

and Olivivera is happy to be right here that's a big elbow that's a big elbow with with Pouyet holding on to that body

triangle that's essentially keeping himself in there yeah just a defensive position unless the only thing you can

get from there with that is perhaps a Kamura maybe a guillotine but for for the most part when you see a guy doing

that they're just holding on and now he's just got a regular closed guard it's not really a triangle anymore

and Oliver wise to just grind all over Porier with elbows with his head but

it's kind of shocking that Pouyet is not trying to stand up

oh he got tagged again some big elbows there by Dub Bronx you know it's

possible that one of those vicious knees to the body might have done some real damage

and he might not have the ability to scramble out of this he's getting beat up here by Charles Olivera this is no

good the last I mean we have not seen Dustin Porier controlled on the ground for a while right and in a closed guard

where he's just kind of hanging on he's very unusual still plenty of times

to work oh my goodness and Olivivera is landing some nasty ground and pump these are big shots oh and another one

dustin's in trouble he's got to find a way back to his feet and he's not controlling posture now now

he's trying he's got to open that guard he has got to open that guard to try to start

getting back to his feet

something is wrong because he's he's not even attempting

to get out of this position he's not putting feet on the hips he's not he's not doing anything to get out of here

crowd trying to get behind Porier ground control time piling up for the champion the crazy thing about this is

for Dustin Porier Charles landing these blunt elbows are better than him slicing across his head because if they start to

slice they'll start to split him open and rip his face apart right

but I mean Charles Olivera has really put it on Dustin Porier in the second round and this is real punishment right

this is punishment that's going to affect the way he can perform for the remaining rounds if he makes it out of

this one dean Thomas your mic's hot what do you got the only reason why I can think Dustin Porier won't open his guard

is because he doesn't want Charles Alivera to advance in position i think he would much rather just ride this

round out lose the round and then maybe come back in the other rounds because if Charles Olivera advances position we

know how dangerous his submission game is so this might be the lesser of all the evils that's a good point Dean he

told us in our fighter meeting against Kabib Mago perhaps he should have been content to lose the round instead of

forfeiting a position that resulted in the end of the fight so perhaps strategic for Porier but a big round two

for Charles Oliver round three and beyond

round three of a possible five if you listen to the corner of Dustin Forier

Dean was dead on the money that's what they wanted him to do they just wanted him to get tired

and just don't do anything my goodness he's got Oh look at that look at the

transition that Charles Olivera made to get Dustin Porier down oh and he said he

said he did not want to get his back and right now Dub Bronx is jumping on his back he has got to change his position

right now cuz Charles de Laa is the sickest submission artist we have seen in UFC now his advanc is this was his

UFC debut you remember against Oascadero

oh Charles is good here my goodness this is his move the standing rear naked choke is so

nasty oh he's just Oh Joe now he's hiding the hand now he's hiding the hand joe Dustin's in trouble dustin's in real

in real trouble it's under the neck it's under the neck it's under the neck

charles Olivera down him now folks down him now

wow charles Olivivera maintains the throne he gets the signature win over

Dustin Porier bono Brazil celebrate your guy and that is a signature win right

there that is how he does it look at him he's so happy charles Over my goodness

man what a journey this man has gone on his professional career

once it's official i don't know what he's yelling he's

He is the champion i'm surprised he is the champion justin Gatei we'll get to

him in a moment tonight's fight replay is brought to you by Anuel Double A Realast Laert

you know Charles Olivera got the back and the one place you don't want Charles Olivera is on your back i mean this guy

has submitted more people in the UFC than anyone ever and he just did it in a

title fight and now Charles Oliver has won the belt by knockout and submitted

his first title defense it doesn't get much better than that and now has won 10 fights in a row the dude's a beast Joe i

mean he kept just he kept just switching he kept switching switching and then eventually when he got the top hand

hidden it was over there's no way you're going to fight for 4 minutes when you can't find that top hand to get it out of there amazing just amazing and he

extends his records for both submissions and finishes ladies and gentlemen

referee Herb Dean has called a stop to this contest at 1 minute 2 seconds of the third round declining the winner by

submission due to a rear necked choke and

still the undisputed UFC

lightweight champion of the world Charles

D [Music] [Applause]

justin Charles you've been over the rules you know exactly what I expect listen to me at all times keep yourself protected when I say stop you stop if

you want to touch now is the time god bless all right UFC 274 main event is a

Justin Gatei trying to produce an undisputed UFC

world title here in Arizona against the soon to be former champion Charles Dub

Bronx Oliver

grian blue in the black and gold champion charles landed a big right early oh my goodness justin landed some

big leg kicks to start but Charles hurt him with a right hand already charles heard him charles hurt him bad with a

right hand yeah his his right leg is wobbling already

justin's going to beat up that leg though man if Charles doesn't check

oh yeah oh [Applause]

oh my goodness total combination for Gi he's in trouble he's in trouble that

left hookie gate yeah I think hand that time

but he clipped it whatever hurting bada is bloodied on that left side

gi chance raining down about a minute gone by here round one that was a bit of a delayed knockdown

[Applause] there's that Gi leg kick now he's loading up genji is loading up with that

left hook nice little uppercut from Olive

swing knee guy intent right hand front kick to the body and here's that pressure from Olivivera when he gets

that pace going and lifts that left leg he starts marching towards you

[Applause] oh oh big left from Dei and a return on the counter right by Olivivera

watch the knees here of Olivivera hold guard look at this

justin's like "Not today son gatei knows where he wants to fight nice

body shot there by Gatechi but a good knee by Olivivera ki excuse me Olivivera

certainly wearing most of the damage early on kipped him again good clean right hand

from the champion oh my goodness justin's loading up he cannot load up

the ones that he landed came in combination when he loads up Oliviver sees that

[Applause]

this is crazy absolutely nuts through half a round ki back to work on the leg kick landed a right hand big knock down

with a right for now trying to transition to the back this is not good you cannot let Olivivera on your back

he's going to take the arm yep he's going to take his arm oh big elbows from Oliver justin's in a lot of trouble here

i mean this Charles Ola man i mean Rogan this He's got a triangle he's got a

triangle oh he's got a triangle too thisa is just Oh my goodness

he can't let him take his mouth oh he's got He's got locked in it's over fully locked in it's over is under the chin

switches out the drip he's going to go that is going to do it this dude right here who can stop Charles Olivera 11 in

a row and still the best lightweight on planet Earth tremendous

this dude is absolutely tremendous performance he is a savage ladies and gentlemen referee Mark

Connard has called a stop to this contest at 3 minutes 22 seconds of the very first round declining the winner by

submission due to a rear naked choke charles Dubil

[Music]

Darian Charles Olivera lightweight title eliminator darian blue olivivera is in

yellow daruse looks thick right now he really does feel out overnight ola ooh

nice head kick there from Olivea oh

[Applause] Daru said that he had to stay calm he had to stay patient he had to be focused

and fight with the game plan that his coaches put in front of him

paul we talked about this all week when they come together those little things in between where Olivivera lands knees

and just kind of taps and digs at you that tend to take and pay dividends over

the course of long fights he's so much stronger than I think people realize too now interesting pulls pulls him down

into the guard well he tried to go have he tried to go inside out trip but defense kept Darush up and then he tried

to lift him but Darush has such a strong base was such a great grappler himself he was able to defend

ufc 289 is brought to you by Diablo 4 welcome to hell

[Applause] now Ben's obviously got to mind his arms keep an eye on this position here you

see Charles will sweep he'll attack the legs he'll roll underneath of you but Benil so strong from this top position

nice hammer fist from the bottom as well for Charles and we talked a little bit about this

Paul charles can't be comfortable here because even though he's throwing even though he's landed from the bottom Benil

Darush is winning the position because he's the guy on top almost punched a hole in the net too you're trading

punches from the bottom you're not winning charles goes deep half here got the leg

dil's got to be very careful here there's a heel hook position oh and that's the worst position he can

be in if he can get a hold of it he's

not good neil doing all the right things here out of it oh god I hate watching all these leg attack positions certainly

a lot of grappling fans were hopeful that we would see some of these ground exchanges between these two and right

off the bat I mean almost immediately they were clinched up exchanged for a bit man that's twice Darus's missed and

bunch of dent in the canvas

oh got to watch the up kicks olivivera is too comfortable on his back he's not even trying to get back up to his feet

Paul yeah it's almost as if he wants to prove a point and try to look for the submission here

it's a tough ask against somebody like Benil Darush

darush trying to realize some consistency with these ground strikes solivivera has defended pretty well that

left hand got home charles does a really good job of defending off of his back even in his

last title fight he did a good job of limiting the damage that he took in the first round under Mak he's got a hold of

the left arm of Benil pulls it out

and Benil just staying very busy with the ground and pound charles works his way back up nice

and immediately creep use with the knee to the body about 90 seconds to go round one but you saw when Olivivera decided

to get back to his feet he got up right it's a matter of him not just accepting being on the bottom

but with this much time left in the round Olivivera needs something big he can make that happen oh huge head

kick and a left hand for Oliver oh he's hoping he'll right hand down

he's trying to get around to the back there it is that was that big oh my

goodness he's covering up

Charles how about him 12 of 13 for the former champ oh my

goodness he almost fell out the octagon they open the door right behind Bar

impressive charles D Bronx Olivivera lighting up

this capacity crowd in Van City misses that right hand look at this

comes right up with that head kick through the guard but wobbles Benil badly and my goodness just Charles's

striking has looked so dang good over the last few years look at that right hook you see the legs start to give out

on Daruse drops him down and Daruse tried with all of his might to stay in this fight but Charles was just all over

him just vicious ground and pound unbelievable

he's talking to John now from the cage that's just a world champion right

saying he's the champion he's been the champion

and there's where Binil Darush nearly fell through ladies and gentlemen referee Jason Herszog has called a stop

in this contest at 4 minutes 10 seconds in the very first round declaring the

winner by TK Charles Dubron

[Applause] Michael Chandler back on the proven

ground for the first time in two years so are you ready taking the future Hall

of Famer Charles Dubro underway

olivivera opens with a front kick

get behind the American early on charles got something going on with his

eye i feel like he got poke some something happened he's touching his right eye a lot

[Applause]

now Oliver with a nice offensive flurry

chandler wicked measured early [Applause]

chandler advances with a jab [Applause]

nice job by the chuck isolating what seemed to bother Charles

6 by now trump fights so technically on the feet

like look how quickly that right hand comes he doesn't load up with everything

he just fires it out oh nice double leg wow beautiful entry by Tom Olivera oh oh

taylor grabbed the cage watch his leg look at the leg his leg's in real danger he's in real danger real danger

chandler yes got away with a blatant grab there on the top of the fence still on the ground he's in a heel hook

position here this is not good at all you do not want to be here with Charles Olivera

especially early in a fight especially where Olivivera's left leg is if he can slide that left leg down on the hips

where that left leg of Michael Chandler is is in a very precarious position if

he can maintain control of it with his right arm it's not good for Michael Chandler

and he's going to take his time be very patient land a few hammer fists here some punches soften him up and then make

an opening dare I ask him Chandler what you're trying to do well he definitely wants to

keep that triangle on the legs like he has it right now but what he really wants to do is scramble out of this

position but he's got to do it carefully because Alo is one of the best finishers in the history of the sport his

jiu-jitsu is world class it's so slick every time having that position is just

real bad he's deep in on the hips chandler's doing a really good job of collecting the left arm of Olivivera

but right here you start to see his foot slip yep yep yep olive is in no rush to clear this either he's taking his time

whereas most fighters would feel a bit uncomfortable this is not a familiar position charles seems to be very

comfortable in here because it would feel like Chandler if he could get to an underhook could take the back of

Olivivera that's a big if right olive is such a

wizard on the Chandler's left leg is the only thing that's keeping Olivivera from

mounting him where that left leg is why he's got his left leg elevated over the hips of Olive

ba bypasses that he slides over and he's on top of him

well look at those little short movements there trying to clear that leg he's going to pop that right leg out

and slide that left leg over the top but by having this control over the body like he has here

at the very least he can get the side control but he may very well be able to pop a leg over the top of the mountain

chandler thus far doing a nice job controlling that right leg yes but just Olivivera is so big for this weight

class it's so long and it's jiu-jitsu is so technical you do not want to be stuck here where everybody's dry not a lot of

sweat and he's just got excellent control here

and he's cooking just taking his time looking for his openings and he's in front of Makaco who's his longtime MMA

coach a real legend in the early days of the of the sport

[Music] get your fingers out of the game

chandler's doing such a good job with that lock down on the legs can't advance but if you're Michael Chandler you are

okay losing this round but limiting what happens when this fight hit the ground

so early yes absolutely absolutely he's mitigated any of the real dangers being submitted he's losing the round zolar is

on top of him but not a lot of damage you know

round two is a very surpris

[Applause]

[Applause] Like you said Joe Oliver is so picky

with his strikes he doesn't waste anything he's very disciplined with his hands he does things the right way and

he hits very hard he hits very hard and then he beats up your legs look at Chandler's legs already you don't even

realize that those outside kicks are doing that type of damage to him and if you want to know about that old power as

he lands a left hand there just ask Justin about it that is the hard hit hardest hitter he's

ever faced [Applause]

oh big right hand for troll as forces Chandler on the retreat

man Olivivera is good he's so precise and then you also have to think about

the activity right even if Chandler has been training during that time Olivivera

has beat Justin Gage Dustin Poier Benil right i mean incredible experience at

championship level beautiful right hand by Oliver chandler with an uppercut partially

blocked by Olivivera or so it appears that's a nice kick

oh my goodness that landed it's so quick chandler with

a big land though oh nice knee up the middle big knee for Oliver chandler ate it well you see Chandler starting to

load up now he can't stop who he is this is who he is exactly

chandler landed a couple of left hands there three minutes to go in the round once it starts getting chaotic this

dude's going to get in it he's just going to dive in that's what he does

oh another take down by Charles Le tremendous and you can't give you back

do not give him your back you give your back you might as well start tapping right away

and once again plenty of time with which to work for Charles Olivivera as we hit the midpoint of round two

remember five rounds if needed for this co-main event well that's huge for Olivivera

especially considering the amount of damage he's been able to inflict in the first two and now with 216 to go on top

full mount Michael Chandler's in big trouble

and because of Chandler's background in wrestling most don't try to take him down so this isn't a familiar position

for him to be fighting off of his back and he relies on these big movements to

get out of these situations and Olive will probably just float with

him if Mike explodes Charles will float and if he doesn't explode he's going to

get smashed like this so Mike's looking for an opening where

he can create a scramble but Oliver one of the things he's doing that's great too is he's grapefinding the legs of

Michael Chandler from the top position whenever Chandler starts to move his legs Olive engages those butterflies and

locks hold of his shins looked like maybe that elbow

caused a slight cut on the forehead of Michael Chin

oh before the arm arm bar oh big elbow oh poison with Charles

Oliver factor everywhere sorry John you saw him

climb his chest there when he tried to go for that submission that was the only time he lets the hips go

oh oh my god beating him up chandler is getting brutalized here

he slides down and again goes right back to those grape vines diego Lima being told just reminded

Olivivera about the 12 six elbows and that one looked pretty close to one of those yep he had to remind him right

it's a change isn't it amazing how long it took to get that dumb rule out

here's a scramble he's trying to make these big movements and scramble that's too difficult you're not going to just

buck this man off of you well he's so big too you know and he's strong as well

it was amazing watching them at the weighin like yeah

oh the Brazilian through two

chandler opens round three with a jab just having a hard time consistently finding that range but you know he's got

a reach disadvantage so he's got to kind of explode in and close the gap and you know you're walking into a wood chipper

with Olivivera yeah you are [Applause]

nice left hand by Olivivera when Chandler gets Olivivera against the

octagon side that's where he needs to go he's got to let his hands go he's close olivivera has no place to escape

nice look by Chandler he needs more of that but he's hunted all that running

with that exhaustion running backwards from Olivivera

oh uppercut uppercut beautiful

nice patient to set defensively by Olivivera chandler goes low leaning against the cage

[Applause] nice that was a very strong jab by

nasty uppercut looking for an elbow over the top

jumping knee my goodness oh they're so technical he's got every

weapon he's got every weapon he's so composed the fact that he is in front of one of

the most dangerous guys in the division he's thinking the same thing champ nice

knee by Holar now an elbow but you you see the difference in the technique

[Applause] champ [Applause]

look at that taken down and he's giving up his back this is no good this is terrible this is terrible and he's going

to flatten him out here oh he's going to get choked with what's going to happen well he survived the first fight from

this remember but not in the third round right that was in round number one right and he hadn't taken much damage hadn't

been beat up we saw this with Dustin Porier dustin Porier fought well got

beat up on him a little bit and got submitted michael needs to stay safe he said that in his corner he goes "Just

ride it out when I find myself the bottom in these bad positions." He's in a terrible spot here the way he's

elevating that left leg using the butterfly with the body triangle is a terrible position for Chandler cuz he

can't turn into him he can't turn away from him he can't use his left leg to help him explode out of it he's got to

get that left leg free but in the process he's also defending a

choke olivivera protesting that Chandler was

grabbing his gloves under two minutes here to go round three chandler's trying to get his body higher

up oh 12 12 to six elbows to the top of the head they're totally legit

[Applause] nine career wins by rear naked choke for Charles Olivera among his 21 career

submission finishes even if he gets out of this he's getting his gut squeezed by that triangle his

endurance is getting sapped he's getting his body pounded

i mean is it a terrible feeling to have your stomach squashed by that triangle

like that especially in the position where it is at now where it's on the top and the fact that he's still utilizing

that butterfly to keep Chandler's left leg out of play look how he's elevating that leg chandler's like almost helpless

here all he can do is kind of defend with his arms and fight off the the

choking arm now he's trying to trap the leg excuse me trap his arm use his leg to trap the

arm he goes right back to that body triangle squeezing the guts

[Applause] and if Chandler does make it out of the next 45 seconds he's going to be

significantly weakened because of this it has been a systematic destruction

through nearly three rounds for Charles Olivera and now trying to finish this fight late

round three he's got it on the chin oh he got out of there amazing great job by

Chandler he's a fighter man won't give up on himself well there's the scramble

he He lost the body triangle if Chandler has a chance now is it

he's got to try to buck and scramble and get his right shoulder towards Charles Olivera's chest and spin around on top

of him chandler cracking a wise smile for

whatever reason so you want a rematch with Charles Oliver it likely will not be by decision

diego Lima called for a taked down from Olive

he needs more of that but not just one shot he needs multiple shots he needs to

get Charles Oliva to engage him in a firefight and he might get taken out of that firefight but he might connect and

that might be the only way he can win this fight still plenty of premium unleted in that

gas tank at Chandler here early round four oh he's in tremendous shape and his

heart is unquestionable but he's just getting outkilled

oh there's a left hand oh oh oh man

oh what an absolute gore as expected nice

counter from Chandler is such an animal yeah he's an animal man and he just fights he's so tough

[Applause] it's a little different though before he

would get hurt he would get dropped he'd get himself in these firefights but right now he's fighting much smarter

every time he gets Mike against the octagon side every time he hurts him he takes him down what a beautiful job of

taking the back there from that clinch just absolutely beautiful

the nuanced take down to get to this position plenty of time to work with as

usual he's just so skillful and you know where Michael Chandler's

like loading up on everything and exploding all America is just pop pop

and then the flow to get to his back here is just lovely hey Dean Thomas what

are you seeing you know I think this is a gamble for Alaba after spending the entire half of the last round on

Chandler's back and having him defend he's gambling taking his back here i'd like to see him stay on top and do some

damage like even here if he's on his back stay on top and at least do damage if you don't get the choke but if he

pulls him back on top of him I think that's a gamble

with anybody else I might agree but with this dude I think he's the favorite when he has

your back it's very hard to get out of there he choked so many dudes out

chandler hand fighting turning with the choke staying present in these compromising spots he's doing a good job

of defending

this might turn into an arm triangle the way he's controlling that left arm of

Michael Chandler if he could slide that left arm further further through and

clasp his hands together oh Mike almost well almost got out of it

he doesn't have the hook he doesn't have that second hook chandler's got to keep that left leg up and high and protect

from that left hook charles Olivera employing his offensive

wrestling a lot more than we've seen in fights past four takedowns on nine attempts

he's the only man who has taken Chandler down in Michael's UFC career

chandler's got up it's in second hook is in he's trying to shake it off but the second hook is in now

chandler's holding on to the leg trying to get the hooks off but if he does that

Olivivera is going to sink that forearm under the chin this is a technical battle here no hook

now on the right side the right side has no hook oh oh he's under he's under this

is nasty that's tight this is so nasty oh it's got to hide the

hand oh man Chandler's doing a really good job of fighting out of this cutting it out very impressive stuff for Michael

Chandler and this has got to be tiring for Charles Olbera and his legs he's squeezing on this body triangle all this

time and for his arms as well he keeps trying to secure those chokes

well the back defense work has been done by Chandler and if you're fighting Charles Oliva you better do that work

but now if Chandler makes it out of the next 25 seconds he's four rounds of

dominated down and maybe potentially a 108 in round two he's going to need a

knockout bear's just content to hold him here

until this round goes out which shows me that he's tired right so he's not even trying to use the choke even though he's

conserving himself for the final round look nothing chandler intimating to

Henry Hooks he's having a hard time finding his footing and if you're Chandler you don't have 5

seconds to share a prayer with Charles Olivera at the beginning of round five

[Applause] one thing about Chandler is his

conditioning is supreme oh nice leg to the body

[Music] [Applause]

oh first take down defended by See Jay let me stay on defense here

when he's on the fence Olivivera te's off on him and then he leaves

oliver could be one take down away got to think he's going to try to wrestle here

oh right hand oh good left hand oh that's a big right for Chandler oh is in

trouble on the retreat

oh big elbow behind the head behind the head big shots from He's behind the head he's the

side of the head on the ropes that's all behind the head

oliver pops his head out

oliver trying to control posture here under three and a half to go michael Chandler can this fight here he has to

just get up he can do it if he can get up high drama at the Mecca late in the com

chandler's got to go for it big elbows by Chandler oh my goodness

[Applause] oh

going to be a long three minutes for the former champ chandler did exactly what his coaches

asked him to do they said empty the tank don't fight this dude he's got to he's

got to be careful he's got to keep smashing here

he can't let try to set up an arbor or a triangle for the week

i would let him up i would let him up no look triangle

robbie Lawler looking for elbows out of that Chandler corner because even in

this all is doing is buying time trying to get to the final belt he No he can

set up a triangle here he can set up a triangle here and he can set up a triangle without even using his hands

he can pull down on the arms switch his hips to the right and secure this

triangle yes

chandler now welcomes all back to his feet under two minutes to decide

oh my goodness high drama high drama [Applause]

oh Chandler with a connection wobbles on the door and now Charles returns fire

oh he got a beautiful taked down timing by Charles Le

i know it's not became a factor late for Chandler i know it's not punch to the

crowd but it's very smart by the fighter chandler had it hurt bad

chandler emptied the gas tank on fear but he had to yeah he had to he was down

four rounds he almost got it but now

securing it he's securing it with the arm trap

[Music] to wind up on top he's got to initiate a

scramble he's trying he's trying to get the scramble going he's getting up to

his feet

look at this oh

look at this standing up against how strong is Michael Chandler

unbelievable unbelievable unbelievable he's so strong

what a fight celebrate greatness charles Dupra Olivera and Michael Chandler go

the full 25 outstanding

what a fight push kick right to the knee you can see Chandler go ah

but that doesn't stop Michael Chandler it might stop a lot of other people beautiful right hand by Chandler hurts

Olivivera another Look at this bang right on the

chin the fact that Charles actually stood up was amazing and then Chandler just empties the tank

goes fullon Iron Mike style and just goes and gets him he drops him throws

about 40 punches right to the back of the head but who's going to stop him i mean it's amazing that this fight is

still happening and this is the end look at Michael Chan he's literally squatting Charles Olivivera from the bottom

getting up and just throwing himself backwards he's doing anything in his power to try and get this man off of him

this was amazing ladies and gentlemen after five rounds we go to the judges

scorecards for decision the judges score the contest 4946

4946 and 4945 for the winner by unanimous decision

Charles the Bron [Applause]
