Carlos Ulberg joins Dan Hellie, Robert Whittaker and Paul Felder on the UFC Post Show following his knockout win vs. Dominick Reyes. Ulberg says he’ll fly from Perth to Las Vegas to witness the light heavyweight title fight between Magomed Ankalaev and Alex Pereira at UFC 320.

Carlos Oberg, come on in. Uh, our big
winner in our main event tonight,
potentially fighting for a title in the
very near future. Congratulations,
Carlos. Thanks for uh thanks for joining
us on set. They're going to give you the
headset there. We were just talking. I
don't know if you could hear the the
conversation, what it was, what's it
like to go into that gym, you guys all
being so tight, and just the tremendous
respect you have for each other.
Yeah, it's good, man. Um, everyone keeps
each other sharp, and you can tell by um
the results from today. So, it's it's
nice that we've we've been able to get
all four uh done from the gym. Uh four
wins. So, yeah. And that's quite hard to
do in it on its own.
You've done nothing but win fights for
the last four years. So, this is nothing
new, right? Your ninth win in a row. But
it's your first main event. A title shot
was on the line if you did something
fantastic. And you did. You answered the
bell. What was this week like? Was it
any different? Everybody says it's the
same, but was it any different for you
knowing what was on the line in this
fight?
Uh, to an extent. I tried to just keep
my focus. My focus was Reyes and um I
yeah, just try to keep my focus on on
what was ahead of me and try not to over
complicate over complicate things with
with all the media and everything. I
just just did all my obligations, what I
needed to do and nothing more.
Yeah, you seemed very medium throughout
the week, very levelheaded. What did you
say to Hunter after the fight? I told
him that I am prepared to be a backup
for next week. Fly me to Vegas and I'll
be there. I am not going to eat or drink
anything today. Go spend some time with
the family and if need be, I'll be there
to back up anyone for that that uh that
title shot.
And and listen, Carlos, unbelievably
impressive display tonight. But we were
talking up here. They're going to fly
you out there. You're making you're
making sure it's business class or
private, right?

Yeah. Come on. You don't do that and
then fly in the back of the plane.

that's just it. You're you're jumping on
the jet.
Yeah. Yeah. I I I have Dino on the
phone. Paul, don't throw a plane around
like that.
I know. Hey, man. You know, got to look
out for these guys. You threw that in
that doc.
He earned it. Can I say I have to say,
man, you went full matrix. You looked
like you were at another level in there.
You could see things before they come
in. He You had him biting on every
faint. was I noticed though because he
was biting so hard on the faints, you
weren't throwing as many kicks as you
usually do. Was there a reason for that?
Uh for for this particular fight, it was
just boxing, man. And um obviously just
throwing things out there. We had a
really good camp. I've had some uh and
honestly just the the eyes out there. My
eagles are just my my coaches who um who
are able to talk and get through to me.
Just real subtle um things in there. So
um yeah, I was able to get the get the
job done with through them. Yeah, it was
outstanding performance. Outstanding.
Has it has it sunk in yet?
No.
No, it hasn't not yet. Everything is
still in a bit bit of a blur, but I
mean, I've seen it. I've seen it many
times throughout the throughout my camp.
I've just, you know, just visualized the
whole thing. So, yeah.
And in terms of next week for that title
fight, did did they give you an answer
on you possibly being the backup?
Uh,
not not yet, but um I'm just putting it
in there, but I'm definitely flying out
there. So Hunter said, "Yeah, you're
going to jump on the plane on the
private jet and then
and then uh and we're going to be
there." So at least we're going to be
there and uh and I said that if need be,
I will cut I'll keep my weight I'll keep
my weight to a minimum
and um and I'll be there. But hey man,
it's those opportunities, right?
100% right.
100%. And I will say if like to compete
for a title shot with all the light
heavyweights on the card next week, you
punched your way into it. They there
hasn't been a better performance in
light heavyweight for for a long time.
So to see you come out unscathed,
unarmed. Yeah, you're you're you're
ready. Yeah.

That's what it is.
I got one more for you, Carlos. With
that title fight coming up, too. When
you look at that and you think about,
okay, I could be next in line or I
probably am next in line. Is there a
particular guy? And you're probably
going to say, no, I'll fight either one,
but is there a guy that you'd rather be
in there fighting for that belt? I would
like for I I would like Uncle I just
feel because you know I just feel he is
quite a dominant um opponent or someone
in in the light heavyweight division.
He's been quite dominant. Um I would
like to take him out so that so that
when I do
uh it just means that no one was been a
has been able to beat him other than
Paul Craig. Um uh but me. So and and I I
want to do that.
That that would be the stamp. It
wouldn't just be the belt, but it would
be a stamp on your greatness.
Good. He's awesome, and I want those
challenges.
That's how you create legacy.
Yeah, for sure.
Well, you certainly took your first step
tonight. Let's take a look at the
highlight and uh the nasty one, two
and you knew right away when you when
you hit him with that left and then the
second one was coming, you knew it was
over.
For sure. Yeah, that was pretty um
clean. Again, it's just it's just it's
just the repetitions uh in the fight
camp and and the the eagle in the eyes.
Uh sorry, the eagles in the eye that
just being able to um
uh just being able to dictate that whole
that whole thing. Yeah.
Can I ask you cuz I' I've mentioned it
without asking. I've mentioned that it
looked like you were looking and waiting
for something. You said you're big into
visualization. Was that it? Was that the
bite?
That was it. That's exactly how I seen
them falling exactly everything that I
I I pre-planned everything um in my
head. Uh but obviously, hey, some things
that sometimes it doesn't go that way,
but uh it's just uh being able to
being able Yeah. Yeah. Being able to go
through that motion um so that it
doesn't seem so foreign.
Where do we celebrate tonight? What's
going on?
We're off to Crown, man. Off the Crown.
They've been looking after us. So So
we're going to pay our pay our dues and
go in and and check out Crown for a bit.
And um yeah, and then and then I I won't
do too much because obviously we could
we could be we're heading off to to
Vegas. Um I'll keep it light, see the f
see
go to Crown, you know, celebrate with
the with the with the team and then uh
I've got family here, so I want to spend
my time with my my kids and uh and enjoy
that that moment.
