On today's episode of Good Guy/Bad Guy, Daniel Cormier and Chael Sonnen recap an exciting UFC 320 that saw Alex Pereira regain his light heavyweight title in emphatic fashion. What did Poaton's performance this past weekend tell us about the first encounter between he and Ankalaev back in March? With Pereira reigning atop the LHW division once again, will it be Jiri Prochazka or Carlos Ulberg next for him, or will it be the G.O.A.T Jon Jones? Chael P thinks it will be Jones, but not at the weight many people would expect. Also, at UFC 320, Merab Dvalishvili defeated Cory Sandhagen in dominant fashion to stay bantamweight champion. What is it going to take for someone to defeat "The Machine?" And, seven years ago today, arguably the most anticipated fight in UFC history took place between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor, so what do the guys remember about that historic night?

Oh, hey. Hello, Pippy. They got love.

He's so sweet. Yeah, she is so sweet life, guys. She's so sweet. But she's

just greedy, man. Oh, she's so greedy.

What's happening, guys? Welcome to another episode of Good Guy, Bad Guy. I'm Chale. He's Daniel. partner, if I

may begin. My daughter is a legend, at least for the moment. So, I was out of

town in Las Vegas with you last week. Some boy had a stick. It was recess and he was kind of messing with the stick.

One got away from him. They, as I'm told, they were all just playing, but one got away from him and he bonked a girl with the stick. My daughter

responded with a right cross. The kids on the playground though have given her credit like nobody gets in

trouble. She just has become a hero. So, the teachers call home. it turns into a whole thing. But she could not wait to

get to school today because apparently so many people are building her up currently. I got to tell you, I'm a

little stuck on how to respond. But that's what's going on at the side. And she's got street cred now. She runs

West Lynn Elementary. And let me tell you something, there's nothing better than when you're like in like that age

group of school and everybody respects you. It's the absolute best. And what a

savage. And it'll stick around. You can carry that for a couple of years, right?

Chill. You know what's funny? It's like, did the teacher say anything to the

effect of I know she comes from a family of fighting or any of that stuff?

Did they Did they Oh, yes. I'm sorry. At other times, yes.

We We had to go in one time because my son wrote a paper telling the teacher that his father is a bad guy and the

teacher tried to keep him after and go, "No, he's not a bad guy. Let's talk about this." And so we we kind of had to have this experience like, "Oh, oh, he's

the bad guy." Yeah. Yeah. They they they say, "I know he comes from a family where it he's he's

it's fighting." So, we're worrying like, "No, let her kick that boy's butt because he hit her with the stick."

Great job, Bria. Great job. You're a legend now in West Lynn and you deserve

every bit of it. Chill. You want to know another legend? Chama. Alex Pada. I mean, this dude Alex

Peda is crazy. The chair, the way he went at him, how could the first fight

be so different from the second fight? I know all the things he said before and

you almost take that in with going like, sure, excuse after excuse after

excuse, but the guy said he was hurt. He said he was not at his himself. And after what happened last Saturday, it's

hard not to believe him. I will set this up as plainly as I know

how to speak. This was the most underwhelming title fight of 205 pounds in a couple of years. The town was just

not talking about it. Coming out the backside, they're not going to have a merchandise or a live gate or a

pay-per-view record. They're just not. It was a necessary fight and every now and then you have those. Daniel coming

out the back end. I have never been in a building that gave that kind of a

reception. I could feel it myself. This was not only congratulations, I didn't know you could do that. Congratulations

underdog. Congratulations young man, you're a world champion. It was inspiring. The older athlete, you tell

me one time and feel free to bring in the Lakers, bring in the 49ers, do any sport any way you want to do it. When

five months removed with nothing to point to in between there except a little focus in training camp, you have

ever seen a script flipped to this extreme. Not to mention it got flipped

to the older guy. I don't know that they're going to give Pierre credit for that takedown. Like there's something that happens to get an MMA takedown. In

every version of wrestling there is, one guy's down on his back, the other guy's on the top of him. If I told you Alex

Pierre was going to take down and ground a pound Uncle, and by the way, he's going to do it inside of two minutes. You would have bet the house against me

that I was wrong. You would have bet anything to say he would not end up on top. But I mean, Uncle shoots defensively. The way

Pereira went out to start the fight, it was almost like he heard everything

everybody said in between. How when everybody was speaking of how he spent

too much time backing up, he looked like he was a counter striker. His back was spent too much time against the octagon

side. It's like he had taken all of that in the time away and went straight forward and said, "I'm not going to take

one step back. Let's see how you respond to that." I think for me that was going

to be the difference in the fight if Pereira was going to find success. What I did not believe though was that he was

going to do it so early. I mean, the moment the fight started, he charged

across the octagon side. And Joe, I think that uncle might have had a false sense of what he was facing because of

what he faced the first time. Every time he got hit by Pereira the first fight, Alex was backing up. So even though he

was getting hit, he wasn't taking the full power. And I think that the Pereira is such a big guy that when he's on the

attack, his presence is as daunting as anything. The power, the striking,

everything. He's a huge guy. So his presence can be an issue and it felt

like outside of the power fell victim to the presence because the moment Pereira

did this he did this and that was exact difference between fight one and fight

two. It was him going forward this time Pereira went bam he went bam got stuck across the octagon side right hand drops

him he tries to dive at the leg. Yo, chill. That was the first time I sat and

I went, I don't know that I like 12 to six elbows. Those were nasty, bro.

Brutal elbows from the top. Bam. Bam. It was That was That was anger.

And you have a defense. This is your simple defense. You bring both arms and you try to put them together. That elbow

cuts right through that. That little tiny gap right there that no boxing glove and no MMA glove can get through.

that elbow will bust right through. You know, it's that elbows that you guys use when they're breaking boards and

breaking concrete and in martial arts videos online, but that's what what Pierre was delivering him. I was a

little surprised that Uncle didn't offer more of a scramble on the bottom. I thought his defense was okay. I was

waiting for him to sit up into like an underhook Daniel and get something going. Dominic, oh, you have a point,

please. That Uncle was having some rib injury, ri issues going into the fight. Right.

That's what I've heard. And maybe that's why he didn't sit back into him. But I mean, even if he wasn't having issues,

you can't sit back up into those elbows, you're going to be hurt. I just wanted to say that because we like to have full

transparency, right? We hear this, we hear this, we hear this. I heard that he's had he had some rib issues and so

sitting up into might not have been an option, but I got to be I think he was just hurt so bad, Jill, that he couldn't

do it. So, continue your point. Sure. And that's what Dominic Cruz said. Dominic Cruz said, "Chale, I think you

missed it." He said, "When they fell, when they got into that position, Pierre on the feet had first landed a big right

hand." So, we wipe the tape. We round the tape backwards and sure enough, there's a big right hand that leads to

that takedown attempt to the sitting down to the ultimately uh, you know, turtle up position that Uncle was in.

And I think that that right hand, at least for me, it's not getting enough credit. I think that maybe some people missed it. I just wanted to offer it for

the smarts who watch this program. him. You could see immediately his face, his whole facial expression change. And

anytime a guy kind of puts his head down and dives, Joe, you and I both know as guys that that that in this trade, we

applied wrestling as our first line of offense, defense, and everything. When we're shooting and our heads down,

it ain't going good. It's not going good if we're not trying to time a takedown. So when Uncle Goliath dove

Adam in that way, I I knew it was was over. It was uh it was such a brutal way

to win that fight. And then he said it just and with all the bad blood and

there's be no there will be no trauma and all the trash talk he's standing over him doing that weird little thing again. And Uncle, you look at Uncleiah's

face, you almost feel bad for him because you're like, "My god, man. That turned out as bad as it possibly could

because he completely got wiped out." And you know how hard that is because Uncle doesn't lose. He's so good that he

doesn't lose. So for Barrera to do that to him in that way, bro, his his legend

just continues to grow. And there was a toughness being called into question when Uncle stayed there.

And one thing Uncle doesn't lose. He doesn't get out toughed. He'll stay out there all night. He'll go through these

training camps. He'll run up mountains without even eating for two days. I mean, the guy is dog tough. But he did get forced with a question, do I want to

continue or not? He elected not to. Let me tell you how dominant this was just from a a little bit different perspective. This was so dominant that

in the history of sport, very clearly, whether we do it or not, but very clearly we begin the conversation of

trilogy match. They're one a piece. We got to go to number three. Not only are we not having that conversation, we're

looking at Prohaska who is 0 and2. We're not looking at a guy that got a win over

Pierre, we're looking to a guy that's never beaten Pier as the better of the two options. And I'm only speaking to

that because what does Uncle have to do? What would he have to do? He's got to come back through and he's got to win a couple of more matches against who? All

guys that he's already beat or all guys that Pierre's already beat. It's a colossally weird situation, which is

where the idea of Jon Jones is such a sweet piece of parody that nobody saw

coming. We will talk about that in a little bit. I don't want to get ahead of us, but Pereira has now won that belt twice. Ch

immediate rematch. Um Izzy knocked him out in the immediate rematch. I think

once he when he beat Izzy. Um, I asked Plennio Cruz, I go, "What does it say

about Alex to be able to have seven months to prepare?" Because remember,

Chill, when he lost, he had been fighting and fighting and fighting and

fighting. Every time someone needed a main event, they called Pereira. This time, he was out for seven months, had

time to recover all the little injuries and really focus. Because John Wood said last week, he goes, "Man, before that

first fight," he goes, "I travel the world with fighters." He goes, "Whether it's in Bellator, PFL, UFC, small

shows." He goes, "If I no matter where I was, Alex was there." He said, "Every

guest fighter appearance, Alex was there." He goes, "And even if you think you're training in every hotel room

around the world, you're not at home getting prepared for the fight." This time, he did two and a half months

straight in Danbury. What does it say about Alex and his ability to prepare when he actually has time to prepare for

a fight? Belief. Belief is one of these buzzwords

people throw out with motivation and confidence and hard work. But belief is very real if you really believe it. Like

I I watched Alex Pier. I saw him in those hotels and I saw that when he traveled around, which was a little too

much travel, but he did have his coach with him. He did have his training. He did do two workouts a day. He wasn't

skipping him skipping him. He was eating right, but he didn't believe it. He knew I got to be buckled down. I got to say

no. The the the number one thing that you will know in life if you're focused. Are you saying the word no a lot? If

you're saying no, if you're saying no to these invites, if you're saying no to these trips and opportunities, that's

what focus is. And that's really what Pier did. And whether physically he threw more punches in the gym, whether

physically he sparred more, got more jump rope or got more miles on the track

isn't overly the point. He believed it. He believed I now paid the price. He

believed I said no and I sacrificed. And it was that belief that really came through in my

absolutely the truth because you remember we were doing other shows together. It'll be like a month or two where I wasn't working if we were

fighting because you were saying no, I can't do that. I can't be at work. I've got to focus on what I want to focus on.

Chill. After the fight, Pereira first off gives a moment of silence for Jon

Jones's brother, which was unbelievable that he did that in that moment, right? But then he goes to the press fight,

postfight presser, and when they were asking him about the future, right, he brought up Jones. He said aspenol,

serial gun, eh eh almost like deflected that and said I want to fight Jon Jones.

I mean does this make it more likely that we will see Jon Jones back in the

octagon especially if it's against Pereira. I predicted for you Daniel. I told you

all week and people were kind of looking down on me. I said I don't think we see Jon Jones return against Aspenol. I

think we see Jon Jones return against Pier. And I said, and I don't think it matters if Pierro wins or loses. He

becomes a heavyweight. And that match is so special for so many reasons. You and I understand to a little bit of a higher

level. What makes Jon Jones tick? And Jon Jones is not just a guy that loves the sport and he's going to show up and

do it. He needs some certain reasons, but Alex provides those. By the way, there was one little piece of push back

when you and I spoke to Dana on Friday night and we asked him this question and Dana was just saying, "Look, size matters. As great as Pierre is, he used

to be a middleweight. Have you seen Tom Aspenol? Do you know the absolute size

of that man? But now that we're not talking about Tom Aspenol, now that we're talking about Jones, who Pierra

probably weigh a couple pounds more, let me give you the hot take of the day. If I'm in Jon Jones's shoes and I hear this

and I feel this buzz and there's this huge fight and it has all of a sudden got my interest, but there's no title on the line, I can fix that real fast. I

can say I will fight you and I'll even find a world title cuz it's going to be yours. I'll see you at 205 lbs. And if

Jon Jones does that, my partner, we're having a very different conversation. Oh, chill. I never Oh my god. I didn't

even think about that. Now you can let heavyweight because here's the problem with him saying not no to those guys at

heavyweight. It's a super fight, but what's it for? When you get those great names like him

and Jones, you want it to be for something. So, yes, 205 pound fight

between him and Jon Jones would be amazing. And it gets rid of the idea that Jones is afraid of Tom Aspenol,

right? Because now he's back at 205 where he's always been and he's fighting the champion there. That makes all the

sense in the world. But to have the two of the biggest stars in the UFC fighting at heavyweight when the heavyweight

title fight is being contested between two other guys, the champion and the number two contender, it just doesn't

make much sense. But to have those guys fight at 205, absolutely. I don't think

the title of baddest man on the planet needs to be officially on the line as the heavyweight championship because I

believe a strong number of people in the world or at least

people that watch that are more casual fans will believe that they're seeing the two baddest men on the planet

because they're two well best well-known big men in the world. And that's what

ultimately will sell, right? Jones versus as uh Jones versus Pier Pereira,

the names, the champion, the champion. Doesn't matter the weight class, but

2054 the belt makes it even better. But J, what if it's not Jon Jones?

Berg and Yuri both almost seem they both

almost seem to be trying to tell Pereira to go up to heavyweight. have never heard I have never in my life seen

anything like this dude outside of Izzy outside of when Izzy literally forced

Pereira up to 205 when they said well you guys are one and one you going to do a trilogy he goes I'm hearing he wants

to go to 205 where did Izzy hear this before anyone else and then Pereira bought it and went to 205 now it seems

like Yuri first off I love Yuri because Yuri is so crazy man I don't know what

Yuri was talking about with Megan He told Megan, "I don't know if you believe me, but I will find a way." After he had

almost explained why they shouldn't fight a third time. It was crazy. And

then Carlos Alberg goes up there and tells him, "I hear he's going to heavyweight. What is happening? Who

wants to fight in jail? Who's it going to be if it's not Jon Jones?"

Well, let's start at the beginning. Apparently, it is not going to be Uncle Live. Let's just remove that. There was a lot of cameras and attention put on

Yuri, which is generally, if you're doing your detective work in MMA, there's some pretty good forecasting there. I don't want to be hard on Yuri,

but I think he can handle it. He just had a tremendous victory, but the truth on victory is not or on Yuri is not only is he 0 and2 against Pierre, both

finishes. He's 0 and2 in the rounds that he completed on Saturday night. He won a

fight without winning a single round. To grab him and then make believe we can repackage him against the, you know,

arguably this greatest have ever done it. I think it's a surprise. And I think that opens the door to Oldberg. But I

listened to Old Berg's interview, who by the way starts by saying, "I'll fight anybody. I've always been willing to

fight anybody, whoever the UFC wants." And then he tries to narrow that and put it on uh Pier and it's like, "Well, you

gave me a little bit of a mixed signal. You just said anybody and it doesn't matter and you're not afraid." And then you try to narrow it down to one guy. I

think those guys do have inside scoop and I think they're getting it from Pier. I think that Pier has put the word out. I want to be a heavyweight. Dana

historically does not love the idea of letting a champion leave a division. But with that said, he's made two exceptions

just in this calendar year. He made it with Ily, he made it with Islam that's coming up. Pier is a little different,

man. He's done everything. And now he's done everything twice. I think if he wants to pick a move, it is wise of the

boss to say, "Look, Tom Aspenol is a big animal." But right now, right here on

Good Guy, Bad Guy, we're not discussing Tom Aspenol. We're discussing the GOAT.

And there is no reason to ever act as though there's a fight too big that doesn't make sense for Jon Jones. That

young man qualifies for any idea anybody's ever had. Yo, Pip is going crazy right by my feet. I have never

seen a dog eat more stuff. Like, she is a dumpster, bro. She's eating like I don't know what she's doing. Like, I

don't know if she can find any stuff on the floor. She's like, Oh, is it food or product? Like, is she

eating a sock? And then I just took like a piece of plastic. I'm like, where are you getting

this plastic from, Pip? Like, she just she literally just walks the floor, bro. And she just kind of Hey, hey, watch.

Watch. Hold on.

Pip is very cute though. I'd have a hard time telling Pip. Oh, hello Pip. Oh, hey Pip. Hello, Pip.

Love it. She's so sweet. Yeah, she is so sweet. God, she's so

sweet. But she's just greedy, man. Um, she's so greedy. All right, back back to

what we were saying. Somebody's got to fight the champ, one of these guys are going to have to step up. And I I truly

believe that when Pereira won the belt back, it needs to be. And look, has a

whole bunch of different skills. He's so athletic. He's so fast. He's so gifted that he could get the job done. He

could. And we've seen Pereira hurt before. Problem is, when you start putting him in there with more strikers,

you wonder if the best strikers in the world couldn't get him in kickboxing,

are they going to be able to get him in MMA? Right? Like, and Bberg's younger, he's faster, he's big and tall, he's got

great power. So, he has the ability to do it. It's just hard, man. People for

the world to probably believe that they're going to see a guy uh beat uh

the champion, especially when it isn't Israel at Asana, right? The one that the one people felt were going to beat him

was Izzy because it just felt like Izzy had the skill set. Uh they won't buy that a newer guy is going to be able to

do it, but we'll see. I think it has to be Oberg, though. And Daniel. Daniel. Daniel, one thing

that we don't often discuss a lot because it can it can turn people off, but as you go, Yeah. Well, what else are you going to

do? What What better option do you have? Well, let me just answer that. Oldberg versus Prohaska. Nobody's pushing back

on that idea. Oldberg versus Prohaska for the true number one contendership. I mean, there's something that's very

fascinating about that match. There's something that doesn't need a cell where you would kind of go back and forth and

wonder within your mind who's going to win. I think that that is very likely as well. I think maybe we're looking at the

two wrong guys for a world title. Maybe we found the two right guys, but let's bring them together first. Right? Because Pereira I think Pereira broke

his foot in that fight. So, he might be gone for a while uh before he's able to

defend his championship again. Hey, what about Pereira and I with those jokes we were doing on each other? That was so crazy. Yo, whenever he did it to me and

then he goes chama, that's just dirty, man. He He can't say Chama right now.

That's nasty work, Pereira. That is nasty. But congratulations, champ, on winning the belt again. Hey, in the

co-main event, the belt stays in Las Vegas. My boy, our American champion.

You know, me and Morab got into this big argument last week about him being American. And uh he's now our American

champion. I told him his American name is Morab Smith. Well, Morab, I said, "You want to be American?" Name is Morab

Smith. So Morab goes out there and fights Cory San Shanhagen who by the way

cha fought a wonderful fight was very well prepared defended takedowns or if

he got taken down got right back up was confident was in great shape but Rob still dominates. What is there left to

say about Mor Dualis will? And let me start with Cory as well

because I have never had more praise for an athlete that lost every minute of every round and still looked really good

doing it. Like Cory had a way out in the round number two. They scored at 108. He had a way out if he wanted to stay there

and just sit still a little bit more. When that door opened to flick it, he never took it. His wrestling not as good

as Moravs. His ability to get up off the bottom. I thought it was pretty impressive. Didn't use a lot of guard

work. Kind of used more of a collegiate standup. Went to his knees, found his feet, got to the fence, turned around and face him. I mean, Cory did

everything right, which forced a better version of Morab. Like you really do need to understand how well Sandhagen

fight to be able to give Morab the correct compliment for winning all five rounds. One of them 108 mate. My

goodness. And he did it everywhere. Morab told us a week ago and you and I of course dismissed him as you know a

fighter trying to throw you off his strategy but he said I'm going to outstrike Sandhagen. I promise you I'm

going to outrike Sanhagen. I know you think I'm just saying it but I'm going to do it. He did it. And yes, his

wrestling was on point. And yes, his mat returns and ground and pound was there. He out struck Sandagen. And they spent a

good eight or nine minutes of that fight on their feet punching and kicking, but it was Morab with the combinations. It

was Morab cutting the angles. It was Morab with the punches and punches. It was Morab with the more devastating

punches while in the standing position. Takeowns. He scored 20 takedowns. When Kabib got

22 takedowns, by the way, Matt returns aren't takedowns, but if that's what we're calling him, jail, he did that 20

times. And when Khabib got 22, I was like, that'll never be broken. It'll

never Nobody will ever come close. Morab got 20 takedowns in that fight, man. He shot 38 times. It's the the amount of

attempts that he is taking in a fight is so ridiculous. I don't think people even

understand chill how hard it is to do that. When they would watch us and go, "Oh man, well, your style was fun

though, DC. You would wrestle, but it was different wrestling." I go, "Because I didn't have to do it much." I go, I

was getting a takedown and guys are spending time on the ground. He's doing that when they're getting up and he's

constantly putting himself back in position to take these guys down. It is

so exhausting. I kind of thought when I was talking to Corey last week, I said,

Cory said he gets tired just like everybody else. He just does a better job of hiding it. I don't know that I

believe that anymore after watching what I watch. I don't think he gets tired because Rogan said when he watches him,

he goes he watches the belly, right? You know when you run or when you grapple or you wrestle, you're like heavy breathing

and your stomach's like in and out and in and out. But Robs isn't doing that. And when I watch it in between rounds,

I'm like, well, he's not tired. He's in the shape that is advertised. I know it

sounds impossible, but it is. And I believe without a shadow of a doubt, look man, all credit to the greats,

Dominic Cruz being the one that I believe was the greatest bantamweight of all time by far. When you combine

everything he did in the WC and everything he did in the UFC, there is no doubt in my mind that Marab Dwalis

Willie is the greatest bantamweight that has ever fought in the UFC channel. And I don't know, you know the the the

history of the game a little better than me, but from from my eyes, I've never seen anybody better in this weight

class. That weight uh the the pacing, the way

he has made a weapon out of pace. Randy Couture was the first to do it in our sport. That was kind of the the Dan

Gable idea, but Randy brought it to MMA. Pass that torch to St. Pierre, who passed that torch to Khabib, and now

you've got Morab. I mean, I'm mentioning the absolute most elites in 30 plus years of watching this, but they can

just do more than you can. They can just throw more than you than you can. Fighting ultimately is a dance in that

one person leads at a time. Both guys can't be leading. One guy's got to be protecting. Then he comes on his offense

and you you you you pass this back and forth, which you have to do unspokenly because nobody has the cardio to go 25

minutes in that direction until now. M Robb does do that. I heard Joe's analysis of it. I can't challenge him. I

think Coach Cal and an aerodyine with a couple of bands might be the only way that you and I find out what Rob's

actual limit is because there's not something within MMA that's going to get him to his breaking point.

I swear to God, I would love to see how hard he would have to try to push Morab

to and I don't want Morab to go when he's out of camp. I want Morab when it's like a week or two before the fight

where he's in phenomenal shape to see his max to see his limit of his push

because I don't know that anybody has ever pushed in that garage like I think he would in order to uh uh

whatever that limit is coach will find it coach will

it's going to be some of the hardest work he's ever had to do in his life. Hey, Mab says that he wants to fight

again in December. But before I get to that, Joe, what is it going to take to beat Morab? You you got to knock him

out, right? Like if you're going to beat him, you have to put him to sleep, right? You got to flatline him because winning a decision over him would seem

exceedingly hard. I knew you were going to ask that. So, I

I text with Sugar Sean earlier. I said, "Sean, I want an ability to drop your name to Daniel. make it look like I did

my research. Tell me what to do. He said, "Chill, give me one rematch with anybody, then let me get a shot." And he

goes, "But let me answer your question without putting myself over." He said, "I really think who we need to be looking at right now is a gentleman

named Mario Batista." He said, "Now Mario currently is booked against Nurmaga Medov where he's an underdog."

He said, "But I think he's got the ability to beat Nurmaga Medov, and if he does, we should give Batista the shot

with Morab." I'm just repeating that. I know I didn't just give you a blockbuster big main event, but that's

not quite where we're at. We're at an idea with Moram running through everybody trying all sorts of different

styles, challenges. It takes four or five guys to beat one of the greats. Four or five guys have to fight and

they're trainers. They got to sit down and take notes and then one guy tries and gets a little closer, goes, there's

some opportunity there. Oh, he even lost a round and you and then you finally get to that five, six, seventh guy that can

go out and implement it. That's where we're at in this process of trying to crack the code that is Mor's

at 14 which is crazy. He's only two He's only two short of Anderson. He's too

short of Anderson. It's absolutely insane what he's done. And Ch, he

doesn't want to stop. Like I said, he wants to fight in December in and defend his title for a fourth time in a

calendar year. Chill, we have seen guys fight before. We saw Kevin Holland fight five times in one year. Kevin Holland

wasn't a champion, wasn't main eventing all these fight cards, but he almost won fighter of the year for his activity. If

Morab wins or fights a fourth time and defends that belt, this is the greatest fighting year we've ever seen. And it's

not 12 months, just 12 months, July to July. I'm talking from January to

December, this dude would have fought four times and defended the belt four

times. Would that be the greatest year in MMA history? There there there's the the sport,

right? But then there's the game which involves the sport and the business. I love what Morab's doing, but to act as

though he didn't just do it in a co-main event. I know that's not his fault. Look, if there's two titles, there's a

policy and we give it to the heavier guy. I understand all of those things, but Daniel, for really get that that

that acclaim from the crowd, there's got to be that big match. And Morab is doing

his part. He's largely had him. He's largely already been there within the Cejudos of the world. I understand this

is critical, but the division does need to match him. It can't be just Shawn Ali that builds interest. Mario Batista

needs to do it. It wouldn't hurt your teammate Nurmagamed up to step up and start to do to do something that's

interesting that can get these great fighters into the feature contest. I do think Coain in January because Islam main

evented the card. He was in the main event against Ali. co-main this time and he would probably be the main event

because when you look at December I think uh the flyweights are one of the

championship matches that aren't matched and if we follow the rule then the heavier weight would be the bantamweight

champion Rob Dwallis Willie and by the way are we doing Caleb Kayla

and Amanda is that still a thing how come I'm not hearing buzz on that Kayla and Amanda I just don't know what date yet let me tell you how I know that

Dean Thomas who I was asking talking to the other O, so what's next, Dino? Cuz

you're doing such a great job with Joe Piper. He goes, "Well, I've been working with Amanda." I was like, "Oh, oh, Dino

is working with Amanda Nunez right now." Because, you know, Dean used to be American Top Team. Dean uh his guy Joe

Pyer beat Aboose Megaov, who's an American Top Team guy. So, yeah, Dean is uh Dean's been working with Amanda

Nunez. It's crazy. It's good. Good. It's a little scoop. You didn't quite

answer, but I understand I put you on a spot. I understand that you have info, you've been sworn to secrecy. But I I

get it. I just thought we were looking at that date of December. I'll take that off my mind. And if we are looking at Morab and Morab's the one guy asking for

it, he's the guy he'll be favored, right? Because the only one available right now is Porant because Umar and uh

Mario are fighting in Abu Dhabi. I think that and honestly, I think like watching him fight Nur Mega Medov, that's the

most competitive matchup cuz Umar did go up two-0. But for me, it's about either flatlining him, chill, or you have to go

a dead sprint for 15 minutes, try to go up three-0 because he does lose rounds, especially the first round whenever the

guy's fresh and cuz he's Morab's not the most skilled guy. But Morab will wear

you down and beat you. So, he will lose rounds, especially early, but that's he'll always win the fourth and the

fifth round. You got to get to three before he can start to get to you. Because if you go one- one, 2-1,

he gonna get you by the end. His cardio's too good. Chill. October 6, 2018, UFC 229. The greatest

night in MMA history. McGregor versus Normega Medov. Do you remember where

were you in the building, Ch? I bought tickets. Yes, I bought ticket shops. I spent 10 grand

to go and buy tickets for me and my family. It was that hot a ticket. Chill.

It was such a hot ticket that me as the UFC heavyweight and and light

heavyweight champion. They said, "Dec we we we have no tickets." I said, "Then I'll buy him. I have to support my guy."

I bought front row tickets. And uh it was just the the dude when when when

when Connor walks out, when Khabib walks out, I almost have chills thinking about

it. Chill. I still go back today and watch them just walk to the octagon. It

was that big a deal. It was very clear going in that Kabib

was the better fighter and he was the more disciplined fighter and it was going to be his night. But Daniel, if you followed the week that was, if you

follow the press conference, Conor McGregor could sell ice to a freezing man. There was no way to count him out.

He walks out there with a confidence that you can't hide. Borsari adds this

smoke element. So now Connor's doing the smoke. He's in the middle of the ring. The referee's trying to push him back

and Connor's doing his big bow. I mean, it was just one of these epic moments where we completely ignored Kabib, who

by the way was the favorite of the fight. But it was one of the things that was so special. Then Kabib has the big

shot that lands. He does more damage with a punch than Mayweather was able to do to Connor. There's the talk. There's

back and forth. There's the antics with Dylan Danis afterwards. They had to get covered to the governor and get the

governor out of the building. I mean, all hell broke loose. Putin's on the telephone. Dana's refusing to put the

belt around the waist cuz he thinks that's going to make things erupt even more. They never give Kabib his glorious moment. They usher him to the back,

which in hindsight was the perfect way to handle that. You ask me, do I remember that night, partner? I will

never forget, man. That night, let me tell you, as I'm watching Kabib walk, he turns the corner and he sees one of the

ushers and he looks at him and he fistbumps me and I go, "Oh, he going to be okay." I was like, he he's feel like

he was good. He was good. He wasn't nervous. on the verge of the biggest moment of his life. I went to his locker

room jail and I gave him a hug and the boys just felt ready. I was like, I know that this moment is bigger than anything

we've all been a part of. We have won so many titles at AKA. But we've never been a part of anything like this, but we got

the right guy out there, right? It was same with when Kane fought Brock. It was like first one on Fox, big deal. Or no,

no, it wasn't Fox, but we had the right guy, right? We had the right guy. And it was like Kabib was just right for that

moment, man. Because you needed a guy with a steel trap of a mind. Connor was not going to get in his head.

From the the the the the Dolly incident to the insults. Uh so many big moments

that led to that Connor coming off of the the Mayweather rub back in the UFC.

It was nuts, dude. And then, hey, the fight breaks out. Kabib is completely

losing his mind about getting his belt. I explained to him, "Please, champ, please, just please, bro." They took my

family. They usher our families out of the front row to save them from all the trash that's getting thrown.

Finally, Kabib calms down. Dana says, "You know what? Take your money back." He goes, "Cuz I don't know

that I would have been able to get this situation under control without you." He goes, "You're not paying." Dude, it was just the most insane night ever. And

then the emote. Wait, wait, wait, wait. What happened with the money? But you're not paying for tickets. I

don't know that I could have gotten this under control without because you calmed them down. But when

we were walking back to the back there, I mean, Irish people were just throwing water and liquor and everything

over like covering Kabib to try to get him out of he was he was mad. He was just really really mad because uh they

disrespected his his father and went he went heel. By the way, Khabib turned

heel in that moment. Became a global superstar on that night, dude. It was absolutely crazy. Unbelievable. Chill, that's another good

episode of Good Guy, Bad Guy. My brother, go and tell your daughter that Uncle DC says I'll be sending flowers,

chocolates, and a gift because she kicked that boy's butt and that she is the best. So for Chel Sunonn, I'm Daniel

Cormier. Until next time, guys. Peace.
