Well, you got to start the show. You do it every week. I mean, this is I should start the show. That's a good pause. What's happening, guys? Welcome
to another episode of Good Guy, Bad Guy. I am apparently your host today, and I'm joined with the great two-time champion
of the world, Daniel Cormier. Daniel, what's going on, buddy? Well, I mean, was I really supposed to do that? Did you just set me up? What was that?
This is I mean, we said it like two seconds ago. Did they say that? Yeah, they did. I was listening. You fall asleep with your eyes open a
lot. I noticed you knew that. But Cho, listen. Hey, how am I doing? I'm not in Atlantic City and I actually get to be
in New Orleans. I'm fantastic, my friend. I love it here. It's been amazing to be back home. How are you
enjoying New Orleans, Louisiana? I love it, actually. And I I love that you're getting this experience. I mean, if they came to Westland, Oregon, I
would tell you that would be a really thrilling thing for me. I would love to welcome you guys and I take you around to all the great restaurants. I'm going to try jumbo. I'm going to get some
jumbo with Clint at some point. It's called gumbo. Gumbo. Yeah. Don't say jumbo. I thought you ate it like kind of like
chili. Somebody told me no. You pour it over rice. It's like a soup. It's But then you eat it with a fork ultimately. It
Yes. And don't buy into all the random stuff. It's perfection. So don't mess with perfection. Gumbo is absolute
perfect cuisine. Really some rice. You don't need to put potato salad in it or anything like that. Just eat it. Put the potato salad
on the side. rice and gumball and you will be fine. It is perfect uh uh meal.
How bad would Max and Dustin like some of that right now? You know, they're hurting. These guys are hurting. They got the weighins tomorrow morning.
Max is on these guys. Max is going to stay a day to enjoy the food. And obviously Dustin is from here.
But Joe, that was a great segue into why we're here. We're here for UFC 318, right? Max Holloway, Dustin Porier. We
talked a little bit about this on Monday about the trilogy. 13 years in between
fight one and fight three. But for Max Holloway, he needs to play spoiler. But
how important is it for him to play spoiler this weekend in New Orleans? I think that Max is feeling awkward right
now. I mean, I'm watching these two together. Don't forget, they've not only fought two times, both went for Porier. They completed seven rounds. All seven
rounds went for Porier. But it's Max that is bringing the title. I think it's making him a little bit uncomfortable.
It's kind of crazy cuz yesterday I was interviewing him and I said, "What are you going to be thinking when Lil Wayne's walking Dustin out?" He's like,
"Hey, I'm the champ. I go second. What's he going to be thinking when I'm walking out?" I was like, "Oh my god." He goes,
"This dude's biased." He's going to be thinking, "What? We're doing that again.
Come on." Never kill a good bit, right? I mean, if it's still All right, listen. Here's the thing, though. I really do think that the guy that puts Max in a tough spot,
Max is an old school mixed martial artist, by the way. Max is in. He will bow to you and he will show you respect. He tips his head. I mean, this guy
really does follow the old school protocol. I don't think he loves that he's the one walking out there with the belt. I think it's put him in a little
bit of an awkward situation. He's the man, bro. Max Holloway is confident that he will get it done this
third time. He is so excited to not only be the BMF champ, to not only be the guy that fight
Dustin Forier in his final fight, but to put 145 completely in the rearview mirror. You know, that was one thing,
Jay, that you and I spoke about so much going into that fight when he was insistent on going back down to 145 and
fighting Iliot. He is so stern on the idea that he's not a 45 pound anymore.
He was mad last weekend that he was still even in the rankings. He's like, "Get me out of the rankings. I'm a I'm a
lightweight now. That's where my career lies." And it starts this weekend again with Dustin Porier, but this time for
the first time fighting Matt lightweight as a lightweight. Before he was a featherweight, just kind of bump it up.
I'm appreciating that you're seeing this as a two division fighter yourself. You're seeing the importance. Listen, if you're dipping your toe in in in two
different pawns, it can be very hard. And that is what Max has always done. He is so committed to 55 now. But that
that's a huge change. I really I really hope you guys are hearing this. Look, as short as two weeks ago, Ilia Tapora went
in against Charles Olivera and we were questioning Ilia's ability to go up to a bigger weight class. Now, Max doesn't
get questioned because he had the fight with Justin Gate, he showed that he can do 55, but we've never seen him really
as a 55 pounder. We are going to see a different Max even when you see him in these pictures and when their face off
tomorrow uh at the weight and I think it's be very relevant for you. His body is different. He has grown into this
weight. What kind of new power is he bringing? What feels is he going to do that Dustin Porry is not used to? Those
are the real questions. Yeah. And as the guy that lost the first two fight, you know, Max Holloway is
very intent on getting a victory. He told me yesterday, I don't want to be the guy that loses to two people six
times. I don't want that record. But I asked this, right? when these guys have
fought so many great guys and these guys are now fighting for the UFC BMF
Championship. As you look at some of their their records, so many finishes, so many title fights for these young men
as they headline the pay-per-view this weekend live on ESPN Plus Ch. The BNF
title initially seemed to be a gimmick, right? It was Nate Diaz versus George
Mazvdal. Neither of them at that point in their careers were in title contention. But when you look at Dustin
who's lived there, you look at Max who's had 10 title fights. These are world class fighters, the elite of the elite.
Dustin Porier wins his belt. He becomes the BMF champ, also the interim champion. Does the BMF title go away?
I hope not. Daniel, I feel I feel like it's going to Listen, this was Dana White's idea, but Daniel's actually a
humble guy. He doesn't love when his own ideas get over. He doesn't love telling people that this was his idea, but
supposedly he pitched this in the war room. You got Hunter there, you got you got Mick and you got Shawn. And they all three love it. So, they ended up going
with it. But I only tell you that story. I don't know that Dana is going to protect something that was his idea. He
doesn't see it that he's a promoter. He puts other people over. He builds up other people. I'm worried they're going to do away with it. I don't want it to
go. I love this title. I think there's something special to it. I think there's something special the first night that we contested at Madison Square Garden. I
think there's something special that we're contesting it here in New Orleans. Yeah, it's going to be a great fight.
The BMF title matters now. the BMF title matters now. Um, and both of these guys
are world class fighters. And we also are going to be joined by another world class fighter. You know, these two are
are tremendous. Alan Joan's going to be on. I don't know why we're bringing Alan Joban on. He was trashing Dustin Poor
earlier. I'm going just tell you that. He's supposed to be his friend. He's stabbing him in the back. We get a third fight. They both say that they're so
different today opposed to when they first fought that they can take nothing from the first two fights. Now, it might
have seemed like I short circuited a little bit there, but I'm trying to get to some sound, chill. I'm trying to get to some sound. I was going to text them
because we have no way of communicating with the people in our ear. Sure. There's sound that I'm supposed to toss to before we bring in the bad guy Allan
Joan. I don't know if it's Max's sound or if it's Dustin sound. They were saying Dustin as we were right now as I'm
stalling. I'm hoping someone goes in my ear and says it's Dustin or it's Max's sound. Relevant detail. And I feel like you've
done your job. Yes, there is sound. There is sound. Is this sound coming from Max or is it coming from Dustin? You're reaching my
tag team partner. There it is. My tag team partner. You finally got me. Thank you, air. So, it's Dustin Porier talking
about retirement. Now, when Dustin Porier is done talking about retirement, Alan Joan will join us. The hater that
he is on Dustin Porier, and I'll tell you why he's a hater. But this is Dustin talking about retirement. Guys,
it's amazing. You know, I've been saying it all week. I don't come from a place
with silver spoons, a lot of money, you know, I don't I don't come from that. So, all the travels and and fights that I've
had all over the world, a lot of people get don't get to go, you know, a lot of people missed out some big moments in person. So to be so close to home where
they can hop in their car and drive to New Orleans and have people in in the arena, fans,
family, friends that never got to see me compete live for this last one is super
special. And has the reality really set in that this is actually going to be taking place in New Orleans. And you know, it's
the perfect setup for you to not only go out on a high note, but as well as have
all of your friends, family, and team along your side. Yeah, I kind of think about it here and
there. Uh last night laying in bed before I go to sleep. Like that was my first night checking into to my Airbnb
here in New Orleans and doing the paperwork. I'm like, "Wow, it's really happening. This is really really happening." Um
but it's I think like I say, I think it's just the right time. Uh, I don't want to get retired from the
sport. I don't want this sport to chew me up and I want to walk away. I don't want it to retire me.
Hey, you're a you're a bad guy. You're a bad friend. Guys, we're joined by Allan Joan. Allan Joan,
you heard Dustin Porier there talking about retirement. Um, you could tell that it's a bit emotional for him as he
walks away from his career. You being close to Dustin, like what's been the vibe around him as he gets ready for
this fight? Yeah, I mean, it's just the moment. This is the moment he's been waiting on for a very long time. Listen, Dustin Poria, a
lot of people are saying, why is he retiring? I mean, if he beats Max, why not go and fight Ilia and all these
other options, but the truth is Dustin has had one foot out the door for quite a while. It's the big opportunities he
couldn't get away from, right? He fights Connor, gets these huge paydays, gets another title opportunity, gets a big
payday. Fight for the BMF, an opportunity after opportunity. He's been thinking about this for quite a while.
He just wasn't able to steer away from it. I think he is fine now with these opportunities and this would be the swan
song for him now. That's awesome. But you know I kind of want to get to why this guy Dustin Puya
who hey he told me he's jumping the gillie too. He said if he gets a chance to jump the guillotine he's jumping the gilly. I think
after a war though jumping it. He goes I'm jumping the guillotine every time. He said uh
will you tell me what it is that Allan did that's got you worked out? Did Allan say something? Before he answers that, let me just
smooth things over. Look, I'm This is your show. I'm from Louisiana. We're in my home. So, I I'm taught if I come to
somebody's house, I don't come empty-handed. I brought you guys a little bit of a taste of New Orleans here. Cafe De Mo Cafe Olay right here.
Some beignes right here. Chill. I've been wanting the beignet. My wife not supposed to eat beignes and black shirts. We all three got the memo to
wear black shirts today. The powder. Try not to get the powder on you. If you don't have the powder on you though, are you eating it right? So,
I'll tell you what Allan said. Allan said, uh, and I'm I'm going to eat the beignet once I toss this. Allan said
it is truth that Max Holloway is closer to his fighting prime than Dustin Porier.
This is fact. How is that fact? Because Dustin Porier, 36 years old, he's got one foot out the door. And even
though he can compete with these guys, he knows he's ready to turn that page in the book. The page is already up right
now, right? He's already after his last fight. He's admitted that Max Holloway still wants to keep fighting for a very long time. The kid
came into this sport so very young. He's in his prime. What's what's the average age of the prime in in the UFC?
I'm guessing 33. The exact age that Maxway is Daniel Cormier to 30 to 36 37. Those guys are
in that prime. Dustin, you're a heavyweight DC. That is the heavyweight prime, not the lightweight prime. Corier fought for the belt.
Good point. You know, I'm right on this, Daniel. Daniel, there's a fact that if 35 and older and and weight classes 185 and
below, come on, DC. You're a local here. So, listen. Why now? Why not for Dustin
Porier? Because we do believe he can still compete. There's powder sugar everywhere and
these donuts are delicious. And you want me to focus back on the show? I mean, it's a little bit distracting. Okay. Why now?
Why now? Well, I'm going to answer the question because what is different? Anytime you're doing a rematch, you have to have an answer for that question.
What's going to be different this time? Max has got to answer that times two. The problem is he's actually got an
answer, which is I'm now a 155 pounder. Max actually has an answer, which is I'm still motivated. I'm looking for
rematches with Illy. I'm sticking around the sport. You're leaving there. There is a different thing. And
by the way, Daniel, you talked about something earlier. I'd love to circle back and then get Allen's take on this. But if Dustin wins and retires, are we
saying goodbye to the BMF? Perhaps. But perhaps it just allows an opportunity to
move the BMF somewhere else. And just to remind you, historically, when Mosvidol retired, it gave us the opportunity for
really the fight that we're seeing now. I'm not confident that somebody's not going to get a hold of Dane and say, "This is a great idea. Keep it around."
Yeah. And and possibly even if Dustin wins and retires and now we don't have a BMF title. We have the White House card
coming up. I mean, you could make up a presidential belt for that as well. Any type of madeup title. BMF title.
BMF could go, but I'm saying I want the BMF title. Any type of title could make its way to the White House for Max Holloway. We
talked about him. He's now at 155, right? And he's just better, I think, at 155. Former champion at 145 at this point in his career. at this
point in his career, it's too tough of a weight cut for him to go back down to 45. He's comfortable here. We've seen the type of knockout power that he had
obviously against Justin Gatei in that. How well does he look in this third meeting at 155 compared to his first
fight after being knocked out? A guy that's never been knocked out in his entire career now comes off of a knockout loss. Where does he stand when
he's in the fire in the toe toe to toe with Dustin Porier? He's got he's got some answers for that. I interview him tomorrow on my YouTube
channel. But listen, let's talk about Dustin Porier. And anytime somebody retires, anytime someone retires, we
talk about legacy. We talk about what does it feel like to know that it's over. But when we look back at the diamond, a
guy that not much was expected from when he got into this thing, nobody expected him to be this guy, right? Does his
resume does his resume match up to some of the greatest resumes of all time? Because there's only a couple guys that
have fought who Dustin Porier fought, right? Jones fought me, Steipe, Bonner, Gustin, Glover, Chale, Vto, Rashad,
Machita, J Rampage, Shogun, RDA fought Kabib and Nate, Usman Edwards, Tony
Ferguson, Anthony Pettis, Cowboy, Cerrone, Benson Henderson, Lawler, Alvarez, Felen, Cington, Physique.
Jeez, that dude RDA fought some people, didn't he? And two weight classes, 170. Yo, as I'm
reading RDA's guys, I'm like, "Holy cow, insane." But when you look at Dustin's, Yeah. he's fought everybody
that he could have fought over the course of his entire career. So, does this guy's resume and his wins
match up to any of these? Well, I mean, for me, I didn't mean to cut you off, Ch. It's 1,000%. You look
at strength of schedule, we do strength of schedule in every other sport. When we talk about strength of SK schedule in
the UFC, Dustin Porier is at the top of the list. The two guys that you just mentioned aside from him, Jon Jones, RDA, and Dustin Porier, the the toughest
of the tough. Also, you remember the violence triangle that Dustin Porier was talking about a while back. Guys like Michael Chandler, Justin Gatei, Eddie
Alvarez, violent triangle. He has wins all over all of these guys. Now you add in Max Holloway, two wins. Uh Dan Hooker
in co one of our favorite fights of all time. Fight. You remember that? Probably the most violent fighter we've ever seen.
Because there was guys agree. Hey, but listen. For the people that actually get smart and go, well, no, he doesn't. Look
at his last 10 fights. This dude beat Alvarez Holloway then fought Khabib. Then he fought Dan Hooker, Conor
McGregor, Olivivera, Chandler, Gachi, Benois. That's tough.
Hey, when Benois Santini is the easiest guy on the list of your final 10. Yeah,
don't talk to me about resume. I don't care that he didn't win them all. He's been in the octagon with everyone that
he could. So Dustin Porier can't worry ch about being forgotten like some
people when they're done because you've only seen him compete with the best and he tried for more. I mean just to remind you but he signed on to fight
Nate Diaz at one point. All right, here's a question Allan. What is something about Dustin Porier that we
don't know? Wow. Well, Dustin's a competitive guy. Obviously we know that from fighting. We play a lot of ping pong and other
things. But I think one thing that I've learned about him, he's got a pretty good singing voice. He's got a good He's
got a good sing, but I know I knew he was going to be I knew he was speaking of this because I saw him do
he's singing the national anthem the other day with this man come up show and lie. Get him out of here. Is it because you think that you have a
better voice than Dustin doesn't sing? I can't sing but Dustin can. We go have sessions in Dustin, Florida and we play
the guitar. He has a a stepfather who's a beautiful a wonderful musician. Plays the guitar, has a great voice. Dustin
will jump in when Dustin has some liquor flowing. Dustin can sing. He can carry a tune. What? John,
are you jealous of this? Daniel, what is going on? Why are you turning your back to us right now, Daniel? I'm not going to sit up here and just
let you lie about Dustin Porier singing. Why? Why not? You know what? Why can't we lie about Dustin Porier?
No, he's got the accent. You think you're a better singer than that? I don't know how he sings. Well, then how do how are you going to
judge him? Because I can look at somebody and tell they can sing. Yeah, I can Joe cannot sing. That is not true.
If you start singing good, I'm quitting this job. I sound just like I sound just like he
sounds. The guy. All right, stop what you're doing because I'm about to ruin the Oh, that's rapping, man. Yeah, that's
the Humpty Dance. That's how he sounds. I like the little but I want you to sing
something. If you can sing, I'm quitting this job right now. Well, I need a song though. I mean, we
here we go, you know, by morning. Sing America the Beautiful like I did.
San Anton is just what I got on.
That's George Straight. That's actually pretty good. I'm done. I'm fired. Okay, so first off, now we've determined
Dustin Porier has a singing voice almost as good as mine, which is hard to believe, but Dustin Porier chills
musically inclined. Speaking of music, Lil Wayne's going to be walking him out.
Yeah. Yeah. That's not Lil Wayne. What? I don't know if this is real or not, but I love it. I love that he's been doing
this from Chappelle. That's Lil John, right? That's Lil John. But but Joe Ban, as a guy from Louisiana, how big of a deal is
it that Lil Wayne is getting to walk Dustin Por best rapper alive? I mean, this is somebody that we grew up on. He's the
same age as I am. I believe 43 roughly. We g in high school, we all would watch this guy, Juvenile, the the Hot Boys,
Cash Money to the 99 to the 2000. I got to say something, man. I got on, man. I I love that, Joan. But the way you
You're making it sound not cool. It's almost like Chelsea is not cool. I mean, what's not cool about that?
I don't know. Like your voice is changing. Like I want your accent back, man. Joe man, before I used to barely be
able to understand you. You're not so perfect. You already perfect in the face. I can't help that. I don't need you to be sounding so good
at my job. You are, dude. Can I touch in on that? Cuz this is the best looking guy. He's the best looking guy on TV. No, for sure. That's true. But let me
ask you a question about Porier in retirement. Could he have a modeling career in front of him? He's a handsome guy as well, right?
Yeah, he's a very handsome guy. I mean, we'd be doing the dad stuff, right? It's I think we're past I think we're past
Oh, here we go. Here we go. Look at that jawline. Why not? Why not put Look at the jawline
on this guy. Look, that girl's beautiful, but Allan's wife is prettier. By the way, listen guys, I appreciate
she should have been in the shot with him. I appreciate all the love you're giving me, but um I'm not the only good-looking handsome guy up here. I don't think I
think that uh the two gentlemen sitting next to me, Chel Sun and that's my boy right there. Can we bring up something as well?
Can come back anytime he wants. There we go.
Versace. That's the newest one. That's great. We made it. EC's new mo the new new uh diet is
definitely working. I think it's your workout device. Chill. Chill. How many times did you have to poke yourself to get those arms? I mean,
yeah. By the way, a moment ago when you asked me if uh Connor hated me. Were you implying that I should care? I mean, you
know, I will squash Conor McGregor. You do understand you. I mean, you didn't ask me in like some kind of like an intimidating type fashion. You were just
making conversation. Correct. Yeah, I am. I'm like I cuz like what if he Well, he's big now. If he was mad and five of his friends were mad, they'd
realize they should have had more friends before you come up and tell you I do understand that. Correct. Conor would appreciate what you do,
right? Yes, I think so, too. I think so. I mean, he's not going to look at it as a dig as much as just promoting what he does already.
Yes. Plus, I will put steel. I will put steel into Conor. Like I said, Conor's bigger now, though. He's not He is big now. Joan,
I saw all living in Lafayette. I'm so jealous of you guys for that. Like you and Yeah. You and Dustin still live there. I do I
do miss home. Talk to us about Dustin like outside the octagon. Like who who is he? Who is he outside the octagon
when you're playing ping pong outside of just the competitiveness? Yeah. You know what Dustin is, man? He's a he's a lone wolf. He is he's a lone
wolf and he's a family man. And that's what I appreciate. I think that's why that so many people, you know, they see
what he does inside the octagon, but he's never changed. And I don't want to steal something that Dom said yesterday, but Dominic Cruz brought this up. You
know, a lot of people when they get to this start on, this level of of fame, they change. One of the guys we were
just talking about, Conor McGregor, Jon Jones has had his issues. A lot of fighters get to this level of fame where they can't even walk outside and they
start making the wrong decisions. Dustin has doubled down the opposite direction where he makes all the right decisions
outside of the Octagon. You see him here, the good fight organization. You guys last week doing that last week. 1,200 backpacks fully stocked
ready for kids to go to school. He does that every single year. Him and Jolie and the team behind them. They do it for
Thanksgiving. We hand out turkeys and hams and yams and everything you could imagine. You see that even in in in
defeat sometimes he'll award checks to his opponent's favorite charity. He makes all the right decisions. He never
let it go to his head. And I think that's what people respect about him. Yeah, that that it's awesome watching you guys take care of the community at
home that took care of us growing up. So, um it's it's been amazing. It's been
amazing to watch Dustin like that. But is there something Ching someone you like like you and Anderson Silva? Yeah,
I think I think that there is a little bit something to it. Listen, there's a fear of anytime you're going into a fight, but we call it the the mask is
off. When when they're doing a rematch, let alone a trilogy fight. The mask is off. None of those fears are there. And
when that happens, both guys bring their skills. When when neither guy has a fear or anxiety, they don't leave that in the
locker room. They come out and they compete to the high. You look like you have something you want. What What is on your mind?
I want I was trying to get Allan's attention, not yours, to whisper to him over. By the way, you've gone with with Joan
and Joe Bane tonight. Your name is Joe Bane. Allan Joe Bane. I've noticed you've jumped around a little bit. Alan Joe Bane.
Yeah, I know what it is. I'm attempting to correct you. Only time. Well, you can't correct me, but Joe Bane is only a favor.
No, Joe. Joe Bane. The model. Joe Bane. The guy sitting next to Yes. Joe Bane. The model. That's what he went
with. I don't know if you guys figured out. No, I'm telling you when Allan was modeling it was Oh, walking for Versace.
It's Allan. Joane. I'm tell That's all I'm making up. This is great. It sounds
good. I'll go with either one. I don't want Okay, game show time. Game show time. Ellen, you got some hot sauce?
Don't steal my big I'm hosting game show. Oh, okay. I don't have the hot sauce. Game show time.
Why' you say game show time? I'm hosting Game Show time. All right. Now, by the
way, the loser here, that's the KO edition. The loser here has got to take shots of hot sauce just so the audience
understand. Hey, this is a hot one. It's hot. That's why I was trying to get your attention. They're trying to win. I'm telling you, just win. That's hot
right there. All right. All right. But here we go. I'm throwing out the first question. How many? Hey, watch. Watch this. You got this.
Yeah. Go. Go. Thank you. Are we competing? Are me and Daniel competing? Yeah. Yes. You versus And the hot sauce is on
the line. You got one next to I'll pass this one afterward. All right. Here we go. How many And
Allan, I'm going to start with you. How many UFC fights have been held in the state of Louisiana,
including this one? Yep. Okay, fine. including this one. Okay, fine. Including this one. Can I go?
Yeah, go. Anytime you want. I'm going to say Wait, no, no, no. You got to let me. Yeah. Yeah, because I know you're going to steal my answer.
Go, go. Okay. 2015, they fought in this very same arena. They're back here again, but I think they fought in Lake Charles back
in the day. I could be wrong, so I'm going to say three. I pick 3,2. Very impressive. You guys
are forgetting the original years of the UFC, which is included this all the way back to 1993. The correct answer,
gentlemen. Surprise you, is number eight. Oh, wow. Oh, they've been eight times. Eight. All right. 15 years.
We're going to start with you each time. Now, name two current quarterbacks for the New Orleans Saints.
Oh, man. I'm looking around right now, guys.
Hey, do we get a point for one? If we get one. No, there's no partial points here.
