Original Description

On today’s Good Guy / Bad Guy, Daniel Cormier & Chael Sonnen react to Khamzat Chimaev speaking for the first time ahead of his #UFC319 middleweight title bout vs. Dricus Du Plessis. Khamzat stated “the belt is not important to me…I want to make money and have a lot of money," how did the guys take such honesty from a fighter? He also mentioned that he believes he has what it takes to become the first 3-division champion in UFC history…how likely is that feat for Chimaev? Also, Chael is hyped about the possibility of Fluffy Hernandez calling out Reinier de Riddier for a middleweight BMF fight. And, Do Bronx has his next fight…he will take on Rafael Fiziev in Rio later this year…is the 3 month turn around too quick for the No. 4 ranked lightweight?

You're actually the best. You're

actually the best. Number one.

That's what I keep telling them. DC

telling them that

you got great You got great your your

skills are so good. You're a great

analyst. But you literally just created

three new human beings in the UFC.

What is the significance of winning a

UFC championship now to you?

Uh

if I say like it will like big thing for

me it will be like but for me most

important to have a money make a money

and

made my family and good life you know so

I think about my opponent to win a go

against him and uh the most important to

beat that guy it's not important to have

a belt

Daniel I love guys like this but there

is something frightening

about a guy like this. Like, it's a lot

easier to play a game when it's for

money or when it's for appreciation.

It's a lot different than that than when

you have a true competitor that finds

himself in a situation where there's a

huge crowd in a whole pot of gold. The

guy that would be there regardless of

the crowd or regardless of the gold,

that's your true competitor. That's the

one I admired the most, I love. But

there was something the way he said he

made it like a spooky character from a

1980s horrors film. I loved his words

though. I loved his message. But I'm not

sure I want to put a PG warning on any

kids going out and seeing it. Well, he

is a absolute killer. He just said if I

was to say the belt was important, that

would be a lie.

We have been doing this thing for years,

you and I both now. And all we hear from

the fighters is that I got to get the

belt. I got to get the belt. You went so

far as to carry the belt because the

visual of us with a belt meant that

much. The belt means the money. He's

saying, "I don't care about the belt. I

just want the money." Dude's an absolute

killer. He is uh he's and he's good and

he's got the skills to back up that very

scary uh demeanor and that approach to

fighting. And guys, hey, welcome to Good

Guy, Bad Guy, by the way. That's Sh. I'm

Daniel as as we are every week. And uh

we're getting into Hamza. We got

excited. We got excited because we

finally heard from Hamzot. There were so

many questions in regards to him even

making this fight. Dude, I swear Jill,

and I can say this now since we're a

week from the fight. Two months ago, I

got a call saying Hamzat was going to be

out. Who do you think should fight

Drake? Should it be uh the kid from

France? I'm talking about what's the the

welterweights, the the 185 from France.

He's very good. The

immov

or should it be Boho? And it wasn't. It

was always going to be Hamzad. He was

going to make that walk. So, it leads me

to this. when you hear that a fighter

just wants the money. Clearly, we said

it's it's scary, right? But Hamza's got

to be making pretty good money right

now, doesn't he?

Well, and and not to mention, just for

time frame, right after those people

called you and wanted DC's opinion who

should go in, they made Kyle Brow the

backup fighter. I I mean, they're trying

to cover this. They're not 100% certain

because Chamay is such a a loose cannon.

Now, I've had some real good insights to

uh Chamay's training. I was able to take

a camera down. Chamay and Serukian were

side by side doing strength training and

martial they

made that request. They said, "Hey,

yeah, bring it down."

They said, "Bring it down." So, I was

able to get some access. And Daniel, it

is cardiobased. I mean, it's true that

the cardio in theory is supposed to

carry over to mixed martial arts. I'm

just telling you, there wasn't a lot of

mixture in their martial arts. It was

work harder, harder, get your heart rate

pounding longer, faster. They worked so

stinking hard. But the biggest takeaway

for me is where they did it, which was

California. Chamaya's always had travel

issues. Well, for this one, I can be the

one to attest he's traveled. He's here.

He's welcomed. He's going to make his

way to Chicago. Big time. Big D.

Well, well, Cheryl, that was it was you,

right? You broke it. I remember it was

you and his manager. I was speaking

about this yesterday. I said, "Everybody

spoke about cuz Dean Thomas said last

week, if Hamzot becomes a champ, it

would be a nightmare." I said, "Do you

not remember?" Part of the nightmare as

to why he wasn't fighting was because he

it seemed like he couldn't get into the

country. I go, that's why Chale was at

the apex one time going, "Hey, Hamzad

can't fight in Chicago. He's not here.

He can't get into the country." And then

your camera pans, you're talking to his

manager, camera fans, right to Hamzad in

Vegas at the very beginning. So to that

point I was like wait if he's here there

should be no more issues because in the

beginning he was very active. He was

very active. He fought very frequently

but you said it's cardiobased and you h

sometimes if you just ask surprisingly

you might get a yes and it seems like

you got the yes to go watch. He said

that they're working very hard. This is

another thing Hamzad said yesterday and

he said it very confidently. He said if

it goes quick I'll be ready. If it goes

five rounds, I'm ready for that, too. It

sounds to me like what you saw in that

training session tells you this man has

to go 25 minutes. He's ready for that

bad. He's ready for a long drawn out

evening. That is true. Hey, let's just

get right to it. So many people have

questioned one thing about Chamaya's

performances in the past, and that is

his cardio. They say that he gets tired,

but Daniel, when you and I and you and I

came from the sport of wrestling that

created that whole term, that entire

idea of Dan Gable 1972, get the guy so

tired, you'll you'll turn uh fatigue

will make a coward out of any man.

Changed the rules.

Yeah, that all came from us. They said

he's getting everybody so tired. Then by

the 80s, they started going, they

started giving a break. Hey guys, give a

break.

And Chamay has weaponized pace to the

same degree. And there are times when

matches are over and you look at Chamay

and you and it looks like he just got

hit by a Mac truck, but that's what

you're supposed to look like. He

shouldn't have energy left. Chamay

should put everything he has into the

contest. So, I don't love the idea. Have

I seen Chamay tired? Yes. Have I seen

Chamay get fatigued and cost himself

positions or points in a match? Never.

Never. He's like Fedor Millionko.

They'll get tired, but they'll come

after you anyway. Everybody's tired. I

mean, everybody's tired. Like, when when

you're on top of a guy, beating him up

in round four, you're tired. You're just

not as tired as that guy. No, Jama has

gotten fatigued before, if we call in a

spade, a spade, but he he's always he

hasn't gotten so tired that you look

like you got to carry him out there into

the octagon. The tiredest he's ever been

was against Usman in that third round

because Usman's a world champion. He

didn't go 25 minutes in his sleep. So,

you understand him getting fatigued

there, but he's never done it to the

point where I'm like I never felt like

he was so tired he was going to get beat

because of fatigue.

But on the other side,

well, and one of those judges gave him

the third round, by the way, I saw him

tired, too, but one of those licensed

jud

laying down. That's all I'm That's all

I'm trying to argue.

Yeah, absolutely. Chill. But another guy

that has proven that cardio will never

be an issue is Dracus. Dude, Drakus is a

monster. He's a monster. And let me tell

you one key thing that people are

missing in this. And I love this about

Dukei.

He leaves the fight after beating Edisa,

who they had so much history with. That

was so that fight was so heavy, right?

He goes and he goes, "I'll fight

anybody." goes and beats Sean Strickland

again because they said Sean Strickland

was deserving. Right after that, he

goes, "I want youaya next." Nobody was

saying that. Everybody saying, "Well, he

needs to win more." Every one of the

toughest guys in the division, the champ

goes, "He needs to do something else or

he needs to do something else. He needs

to win another fight. This doesn't work

for me." Not Drakus. Draus looked right

down the barrel of the camera and said,

"I want Jamaya. He's got great cardio,

too. He's working hard. Dracus is

confident going into this fight. So, how

much more exciting does it make it to

have a champ that called out the

toughest guy in the bracket? Dracus'

first experience into MMA. I want to

make sure I point this out because

nobody else will, including Drakus.

Dracus has even changed his own past a

little bit, but his first of fortune

into MMA was that of Greco Roman

wrestling. Wouldn't you be surprised the

very first exercise that Ilia Deporti

ever did was also Greco Roman wrestling.

And I only bring to you like Drius got

spotted at the United States Olympic

Training Center when South Africa

brought their national team out. He was

one of the guys. He was 18 or 19 20

years old, but that was still Drakus

Duples. He was still in the rooms

working on the gut rides, going for the

lifts, pummeling and pushing and

pulling. I mean, I'm just sharing it is

not an easy guy to go ground and pound.

There are some guys where a great

strategy is ground and pound. That right

there is a tough ground and pound. Drias

is going to be trying to get his own

takedowns. Drius conditioning has been

made uh a weapon of pace. He's made a

weapon of his pace himself. These guys

are so similar that it does kind of tie

down to okay grappling of Chamaya versus

striking of of Adrius, but not exactly

in its entire narrative. These guys are

going to be cage fighters. anything goes

is going to go between these two. And

you know what, DC, neither one of these

boys are going to get tired to give up.

I don't think so at all. I watched

Duplic do so many great things and over

the course of his not only just title

run, his whole UFC career has been an

amazing thing to watch because he was

the kid that everybody wanted to doubt.

Nobody wanted to believe that the kid

with the odd style and the kid that was

from South Africa was going to be the

best in the world. But he told us right

away, I'm going to be the world

champion. Nobody wanted to listen. Now

he's the world champ. And he continues

to prove that he's the best in the world

at 185 pounds. He did that. And Hamzach

even said himself, I respect that. I

respect that he called me out because

not many guys are doing it. Chill. I

remember even wrestling. There was kids

that every week I would look at that

bracket show and hope they would get

beat before we got to the finals because

you knew it was a hard night. You knew

even if you won, you knew it was gonna

be it was never four to three kids. We'd

always win 12 10 nine like long hard

matches. You always wish that kid would

lose. Not DDP. DP saying the guy that's

going to push me the most is the guy I

want to see in the octagon. And that's

really honorable in today's mixed

martial arts.

185 is so loaded right now. Some people

feel that Drius has nothing to prove in

this fight. I I strongly disagree. I

think that the power for pound rankings.

I I think that Drius is going to get

Imanov, Kyle Brawl, uh when when Izzy

Oasis is one of the guys just floating

around, when when when uh Whitaker is

one of the guys just floating around, it

starts to show you how hard a division

is, right? Sean Strickland hasn't gone

anywhere. And I'm just saying in a

division that tough, I used to be the

king of middleweight. I knew

middleweights inside and out, partner.

They did not have 10 Anderson Silvas at

middleweight, but they do now. And if

Drikus can go out and look good and get

the win um over Chamay, I just think

that that ranking, he all of a sudden is

going to be flirting with Islam space

and Ilia space. He's going to be

flirting with the top three. And I think

that's the only way that we know how to

compliment him in our industry. We give

him a belt, we give him a main event,

then we give him a little bit more. And

that top three placing pound-for-pound

is very within reach right now for

Rodriguez. Well, very rarely are you

seeing guys now get there without trying

to fight in another division. That's why

Ilie is number one now. But you look at

uh uh Morab, he's like number three. If

Drakus wins, I do believe he'll start to

flirt with that. And honestly, I feel

like Hamza will too if he beats Drake

plus C. Hamzad also said that he

believes he can be the first three

division champion in the UFC's history.

He said he can go back down to 170 after

he wins. Then he feels he can go to 205.

Chill. Can this man be the champ at 170,

185, and 205? Once you start getting to

205, hey, once you start getting to 205,

now that Anka's a man, you got a big

dude that knows how to wrestle, that

task starts to seem a little bit more

unrealistic. When Pereira was the champ,

because he was the 185 lb champ. Okay.

But Magallay is never stepping on a

scale at 185 lbs. He's just too big.

That's a real 205 pounder. You believe

he can do that?

The prerequisite to being able to do

that, I'd have to ask myself, Chale, do

you believe he could gain favor enough

with the organization to be given a

chance to get a double championship? And

I'm going to say no. Where we sit right

now, he has not cleaned out his

division. It's a beautiful division.

He's done some beautiful work. But when

you have guys like Imanov and you have

guys like Carl uh Bao, when you have

guys like Bo Nichl who I'm not ready to

ride off yet and when you have guys like

uh Rene Renee de Rener. Well, I

understand on the bow, but I'm I'm just

offering to you it's really deep right

now and before you get to change weight

classes, you have to clear out and kind

of even be on your second second one

around the trap. And I don't think that

we're anywhere near that. Does life get

a lot easier with Chamay in the rear

view? Yeah, it does. But it's still not

a lock and it's not enough to start

switching classes and looking for double

champ status.

You're actually the best.

You're actually the

best number one.

That's what I keep telling them, DC. I

keep telling them that

you got great you got great your your

skills are so good. You're a great

analyst, but you literally just created

three new human beings in the UFC. Who's

it?

You just got You just called some You

just told me there's a guy that named

Robert Baral that he's at 185.

He's pretty tough.

Robert Baral

said the Ritter who you managed. You're

his ball Heymon. You called him

something different. I mean, I don't get

You're the best, man. Cuz they I mean,

the fact that they they actually just

go, "Yeah, chill called me

called me Rain Dare." Yeah.

He's like, "Yeah, he's like,

they'll be called it and they will like

it quietly with their mouths shut. They

will follow me blindly.

The day I want one of their opinions, I

will beat it out of them."

The oracle chen. Okay. Ch. So it it with

that being said, I mean, you and I have

spoken

and we thought that Pereira at some

point could be a three division

champion. Still the case or is there

anyone else that could win three titles

in the UFC?

Well, I do believe that Pier is the most

likely. Now, I'm giving a real good look

to Ilia Tap to to the things that he is

doing and the size and the strength that

he has. I also got to juxtapose the

youth. He only needs one more hattick,

right? The one he's already pulled off.

He just needs to pull that same trick

out one more time. But we're years away

from him being given that opportunity.

If if if Islam and Ilia get to the point

where they got to fight, I think that

Ilia would behoove himself to make sure

it's for Islam's belt and not bringing

Islam down for his belt, in which case

we'd have our three champions. And I do

think Alex Pier is going to slide up to

heavyweight. I think he's going to go to

heavyweight, win or lose this next

fight. It's in many ways better for pro

heavyweight Pierra fans if Uncle Goliath

to beat him again. But that's a

conversation for another day. Will we

see a three champion in you and I's

generation? Yes, we will.

I I think that so Iliot I do believe

that he has a real chance because like

you said

he would try to go up to 170. Also,

Kabib the other day said Islam might

have a year a year and a half left to

fight, right? So, like if Islam's gone

and Ilia promised the UFC that he's

going to stabilize at 155, we don't know

who the welterweight champion could

potentially be if Islam is to win and

then walk away. I think where Ilia might

have some problems is because they get

really big at 170. Like Jack Delatena is

massive and he's really really good. So,

I don't understand how I don't know,

man. I don't know. I don't know if we're

going to have a three division champion.

I think that's going to be so hard to

do. It's so hard to do two. To think

that three is a possibility. I I don't

know, man. I don't know. But if But I

mean, nobody thought we went two

divisions until Conor McGregor did it.

So unless somebody goes and tries to do

it, it'll always be a what if,

somebody's going to have to take that

chance.

For 70 years, every single day,

Disneyland has honored veterans with an

American tradition.

Disney is dedicated to the ideals and

the dreams that have created America.

Thank you, Walt. I'm delighted to be

here for this happy occasion.

This is where heroes work.

This is where veterans are celebrated.

This is Disney.

Chill. Speaking of your boy uh uh RDR, I

got something for you. Fluffy Hernandez

fights Roman Dez this weekend. Fluffy

Hernandez is now fight. He wins. He have

will have won eight in a row. Here's the

problem with Fluffy. He isn't getting as

much of the championship love as most

guys that win seven fights in a row get.

So, he has an idea. Ch. He has an idea.

He said, "Listen, I know I've got some

work to do, but once I get through this,

dude, I want a BMF title fight against

Reineer Ditter because, as we spoke

about a couple weeks ago, Chill, it

seems like now one of your greatest

bargaining chips in getting a title

fight is walking around with that

beautiful black BMF title." That's a

great idea by Fluffy. Give me RDR for

the BMF championship. I bet you he goes

through RDR. If he beats Deise now,

he'll be right alongside Immav and uh

Derritter and Kyle Boho. That's smart by

Fluffy. I've got I've got I've got

everything going my way, Daniel, with

one exception. And I love that people

are starting to talk about BMF. I love

that they're adding to the steam and the

acclaim of the uh BMF. You know what I

like though? I missed the super fight

belt. Do you remember that back in the

day when it would just be the biggest

fight of the night and it was a

tournament so you never knew for sure

who was going to match up but but then

you could just bring in these two

special guys usually guys that had won

tournaments themselves and they'd fight

but it was a one night only. It was a

one night only belt. You didn't defend

it. It was just kind of a an award to

close out the evening. I love the

superfight bell. And if if people in

leadership understood the lives and the

sacrifice of those lives that we are

willing to put on hold for a chance to

hold this damn thing just cuz it's a

belt and all of our peers admire it so

much. I think they would be very

impressed with what they found out in

that study. $50,000 bonus boy that's

going to make a guy go a little bit

harder. But you put up one of those

beautiful super fight belts in addition

to I think you've got a real good

marketing angle and something the guys

truly want.

Everything those guys they want belts. I

mean only person that doesn't want a

belt is Hamzachimaya. Everybody else

wants a belt. And clearly that BMF

championship now is not only a belt,

it's a belt that truly does mean

something. And I think that Fluffy

Hernandez

who's on the verge of one of the biggest

fights of his career uh this weekend has

the right idea. But his fighting style,

he needs to take people down.

Unfortunately, the lead is one of those

guys that once you take him down, he's

very, very dangerous. So, I want to see

how Fluffy handles a guy that can give

him a little bit more whenever he takes

him to the ground because Fluffy's

cardio has been dominant in in the

Brennan Allen fight and he beat uh a few

other guys. He wears him down, but he'll

have his hands for this weekend. He gets

it done. Who do you think gave him

Fluffy for the first time? Like who's

the first person that saw him and gives

him the name Fluffy? That sounds like a

very dangerous thing to do.

It's so when you're a kid and you're

like maybe he's a little chubby. They

called him Fluffy.

Oh, really? That's exactly okay. That

and that's what I would have guessed

like at one point in his life he must

have been a little fluffy and you know

he didn't like being called that.

Daniel,

he a bad boy too. He

that's one of the things that put him on

the path to the octagon in the very

first place. He didn't like being teased

as a kid. First time they called him

Fluffy and then everybody at school

starts calling him Fluffy. I got one on

my team right now. He's called, we call

him Squirmy because one day his

grandmother walked into the gym and

goes, "Squirmy, it's time to go." We're

like, "Oh, that's what they call him."

He's 13 now and he's like, "Please stop

calling me Squirmy." He's like, "I don't

want to be called that anymore." One day

you're going to see Eli Alvarado in the

octagon fighting because he has to kick

somebody's butt. So Thursday

the UFC announced that Charles Ola will

go to Rio and he will fight against uh

Raphael Faz in the main event ch.

Charles is ranked fourth. Phys is ranked

10th. The bigger issue is that it's

going to be only three months since Ilia

put him out. Too soon for Olivivera or

too big of an opportunity to miss

because he's back in Rio.

I don't think so. I really like the

match. Uh, anytime phys is starting to

be the right answer to any question that

you have like what should we do at 55?

Oh, we got a short notice. Oh, we've got

this guy that just got knocked out. Like

whatever the question, Phys keeps on

being the right answer. I watched Physra

a little bit in person the week that he

fought Justin Gai last. They came out.

We're doing the Ultimate Fighter, but he

came in and used some of our room. This

guy was so fast, Daniel. And the power

of his shots though were when they were

at the end when they was at the end of

his punches. If you ever if you ever got

crowded, say with a hook or an uppercut,

it was good. But when he was snapping

out lefts and rights, you could hear

boom boom boom boom. It was like a

shotgun going off and I had very high

expectation of him going in against

Justin Gi, but he got a little fatigued.

The fact that it was a short notice

fight, he just wasn't cardio-wise quite

prepared enough. It's a good matchup

right here. This is the right match to

make. and also removes Charles from the

board. Cuz as we stand back and we look

at 155 and try to figure out what

they're doing next, I know I've already

told you it's Islam versus Tapora. But

while we try to figure it out from these

people that aren't on the inside, Arl

Charlie was one of them. And he was one

of them because Max kept bringing him.

Max even offered to put up the BMF

against him. One person in the whole

world doesn't like Charles Olivera. Just

turns out that person is Max Holloway.

Yeah. the person that's matchmaking uh

understands. Sean Shelby understands you

got to keep Charles away from the title

picture right now. So if you put him

back in there with number five or six

and he wins now you can start saying why

can't I fight for the belt? I believe

that I deserve and with all that he's

done you got to take him serious. But if

you put him all the way back at 10 even

if he beats phys it'll be like okay

Charles Olivera won again. Now he's

working his way back towards

championship contention, especially when

the fight ended in the way that it did

uh between him and Ilia. Those guys in

that division have dominated that that

weight class for so long that that

change needs to happen. Now, if he

loses, Faze now imparts himself back

into the conversation. Raphael Faz's

lost to Justin Gatechi and mostly just

Justin Gachi. Everybody else he beats.

He gets to Charles Olivera. Now he

becomes a player. I'm excited about

these guys. The Game Gamros, the the the

uh Faze,

honestly, uh Dan Hooker, those all those

guys that haven't had the opportunity to

fight for the belt. I like them working

their way back towards contention

because then it kind of changes all the

players at 155 lbs. And it hasn't been

that for a really long time. Patty

Pimpblelet is another one that is

exciting to see the young guys kind of

finally break through and work their way

into the championship picture. Lastly,

Chill, before I let you go, we have some

fast show today. You you uh you were

juking and jing. You started watching

the market a little too early. Chill,

did it drop? Did it drop since we sat

down?

I don't touch it. I don't watch it,

Jill. Anyhow, chill. ESPN is now home to

all WWE premium live events. Does it get

any better, Chill? If those seats were

good last year at WrestleMania, imagine

the seats we're going to have next year

at Wrestle.

Oh, Glenn hooked that up. Oh my god, I

was so grateful. But you're telling me

that there's a chance that hookup might

come again this year? It's

coming again, dog. It's coming again,

Chelp. It's going to be nice. WWE though

now is the home of all the PLES. ESPN,

sorry, is the home of all WWE PLE's.

It's a big deal. Before the PLE's were

on Peacock, right? They were paying $185

million. It has been reported that they

now get 326 per year from ESPN. All the

PL, they have like 13, I think, per

year. We are going to get Survivor

Series on the new ESPN flagship

streaming service. We're going to get

Wrestlemania. We're going to get the

Royal Rumble. All those big shows,

Summer Slam,

dude. All those big shows are home.

ESPN's the home of it. How exciting is

that?

Oh, it's incredible. And now I see how

you tied that into the market. You're

telling me to go check TKO's symbol. I

will immediately. I'm a player

immediately. So maybe old Shale is going

to have something to go his way for a

change today. Dale, this puts us one

step closer to the good guy and the bad

guy becoming a tag team in the WWE. So,

if it's you and me, who's our dream

matchup? Are we wrestling the New Day?

Are we wrestling the Viking Raiders? Are

we wrestling the the Judgment Day? Who

are we wrestling jail as the good guy

and the bad guy?

Any combination they want to bring. If

they want to protect themselves, there's

only two. They're going to need Cody.

They're going to need Seth Rollins and

he's going to be needing to tag up with

Cody Rhodess. I know that's not an

official tag team, but if they want to

leave there on One Piece, those are

probably the two guys

probably the two guys that are equipped

with what is needed to get through a

match.

Hey, Chill, they better Hey, let me tell

you something. If it's a tag team, they

better put the Creed brothers in there

against us because we work stiff. Chill.

We Hey, we get real stiff.

The Creed boys. They can take They can

take a potato.

Yes, they can wrestle. They've been

worked. We've worked. They work stiff.

So yeah, if you want to wrestle Jayla

and I, they better keep us out of the

ring. Somebody might get hurt wrestling

with you and me, man. I I might mess up

a spot. And if I mess up a spot, I don't

want there. Hey, I end up like uh

remember when they broke Stone Cold's

neck back in the day. It was all hurt,

wasn't it? It went past his legs, banned

the power driver. Yeah. Don't Don't put

me Don't Don't put me in the tag team.

Leave me outside as a fan. I work too

stiff. Jail has that's big news and

that's exciting news for jail night.

Guys, we got to go though. Um very

important day on the stock market for

jail and I've got a couple things to do

myself. So for the good guy and the bad

guy, peace.
