so did you cheat or did you not cheat come on come on I [Music] cheated what’s up guys welcome to a brand new episode of good guy bad guy I’m Daniel Cormier that is Chill sun and chill we will get to your fight with Anderson Silva in a little bit but first we got to start with news that to some people is more important I know you’re the most important thing in the world but to some people the big news last week was Conor McGregor pulling out a UFC 303 due to injury cha this is what Conor McGregor had to say he said it’s very tough to be ruled out of my scheduled return bout I picked up an injury prior to the press conference that required more time to heal than was available to me the decision to postpone the fight was not made lightly but one made consultation with my doctors the UFC and my team con of went on to say that his fans and opponent deserve him at his best for the fight and we will get there thank you for the message of support I’m in good spirits I’m confident and I will be back CH why did you start laughing deserve him at his best oh the fans the fans deserve him at his best he was at the club two weeks ago and two months before that he was in Saudi Arabia trying to get in a boxing match with Manny pako what are you talking about they deserve him at his best just walk out there we don’t need your best we will take you there’s something special walk out there when you’re ready chill chill but that’s the question though right like Conor McGregor pulling out of this fight to me says much more than just Conor McGregor pulling out a fight you want me to tell you why because when you have a star the level of MC McGregor if he’s going to pull out you want to give people a return date right chill you want to try to soften the blow well I know there’s a $22 million gate for UFC 303 we can’t bring you this guy that we know everybody bought those tickets to see but we will have him for you in September or October or August you want to you want to soften the blow with a return date to me no return date tells me that this is much more serious than anybody even McGregor is really letting on chill it’s very very concerning to me that I really don’t know when we’re GNA see Conor McGregor fight again I am leaning more towards it not happening in 2024 at all yeah no it’s an interesting spot I don’t want to make light of the mcre McGregor is not hurt I I don’t know I don’t know we’re Mak making TV here how much we’re supposed to play along Conor McGregor is not injured and it’s a very tough spot when he has the people that are coming out speaking for him that have been filled in and they’ve all sworn to secrecy they don’t want to cover right because the truth always comes out so you don’t want to be the one that comes on an episode like this and says Hey listen he’s hurt but it’s not that bad a Shucks he can get back in there and all of a sudden you find out it wasn’t an injury at all and then a guy like us looks like a fool I mean in all fairness it’s a little bit of a tricky situation I am disappointed now I don’t want to give Conor a hard time and I am for the idea that health comes first I would just share for you he’s known about this for well over a year as a matter of fact they were supposed to fight in June of last year it then started the rumors that it was going to be more around winter time and that spilled over to the front part of the year which was going to be in April also representing uh 300 now we are here there there there was usat talk and did he enter the pool and we’re going to make a movie and it was back and forth up and down one thing that McGregor always does is what McGregor wants to do I like the gimmick I realize it’s a shtick I know he doesn’t have power around here but I like when he flexes like he does I like when he shows up late to a press conference then shows the world I got a $30,000 watch but I don’t ever look at it because nobody tells what time it is I like those kinds of things so when he comes up for the first time in a very clear cover story oh and by the way that’s written by his first ever PR team that obviously doesn’t follow him he didn’t say I made a decision it was he made a decision after consultating with the UFC a team of doctors his teams his friends his his first grade teacher and his old bus driver that’s that’s not anything that Conor McGregor would say and or do and if he did when did he lose Reigns of this ship how does he know how he’s going to feel on the 29th of this month for goodness sakes fire that PR Company that’s my first piece of advice isn’t that the best isn’t that the best CH whenever you have a public relations firm help you and then it comes off like it’s just not you at all like it it try to make it seem like the guy like that didn’t really sound much like Conor McGregor but it I get what they were trying to do I have no idea what happened to Connor I don’t know if he’s hurt I don’t know why you’re saying he’s not hurt I don’t I have no background information to this thing at all so I don’t know what I do know is that that statement didn’t sound like McGregor I believe and maybe I’m a bit pessimistic chill I believe that he is hurt but if he’s hurt and this is why I say the pessimism comes in it’s not him being sad that he’s hurt he’ll spin it and look at him going I just make Michael Chandler wait for me even more it’s just him being the Puppet Master of the old Michael Chandler again because he knows Mike is not GNA do anything so I feel like he’s hurt sure but this is a bigger game at Play now he’s just messing with Michael Chandler bro and I think that the injury sucks sure I wanted to fight but I’m hurting now Chandler has to wait and I’m he’s gonna do exactly what I want over and over again it’s it to me is the craziest thing because for so long chill we’re just guessing what is up with Conor is Conor gonna do this they had us for two weeks guessing if he was gonna fight if he wasn’t going to fight we had no answers now we have answers but we still don’t really have many answers we just have that he’s out but if you really thought about it he probably was out but Michael Chandler seems to be taking this thing as stde and he says he’ll see you when he sees you but when I think about this and Dana saying that the fight wasn’t rescheduled what does that make you think of Conor’s fighting future like what do you think happens to Conor McGregor well Daniel I tell you this there are not very many rules that have ever followed Conor McGregor look for any of us to uh project that the Great Big Beautiful light shining on Conor McGregor is eventually going to dim just means that we follow sport before like anything that goes up must come down I would have thought it would have dimmed by now I was predicting for you when we were at UFC 299 in Miami that Conor was holding out because he wasn’t going to be a main event spot they were going to co-main event of Daniel he’s got a record gate now oh by the way let me let you on something inside that little $23 million gate that you hear about it’s it’s not sold out that thing was going to come in at closer to $27 million when it was done which beats Connor’s own record his own record is currently the Madison Square Garden Gate when he went opposite Eddie Alvarez at 17.4 million he was going to beat his own number one record by 80% that’s why when you were saying he was going to be the co-main event it was so absurd I was like chill there’s no way he could sell any gate he sto 22 million with no title fight with a guy that waiting for two years from the fight like he’s always gonna be the main event he’s always and Daniel Dan if I can just finish that thought because I mean this is a compliment to Connor I mean look at what he’s done when right when we think things are going to dim and he hasn’t won a fight in five years or something along these lines he’s coming off one of the worst injuries definitely the worst of his career he’s changed weight class a non-title non-ranked fight against a guy that he’s got no problem with like there is nothing on the reason that these guys are going to fight except for the fact that they’re going to say their fight they’re still doing record business this is amazing for McGregor because I have to look at it go okay if you’re the UFC when a guy pulls out of a fight you got illness and injury if you have either illness and or injury we always give you Grace but when you’re the promotion and you’re armed with the fact that we don’t have illness Andor injury and we’re skipping fights how do I rebook you I mean there is a legal consequence to telling people I’m going to provide something if I can’t provide it not for nothing it puts everybody in a very tough spot look if I’m Michael Chandler I there there’s a situation where I have to move on the the difference with Chandler there’s nobody to move on too it’s not a matter of okay I got this great option and I got this great option not really like Chandler’s a big star people definitely want to see him fight but he doesn’t have anyone that remotely comes close to having the drama in the steam of Conor McGregor so quite frankly I’ve been for for Chandler moving on from the beginning at this point I say wait I say wait just a little bit longer if you want to starve him out you want to be the reason that he retires because you’re right partner Connor’s going to use this as though I’m in charge and you wait Michael but the other side of it is you know that Michael saying I will run you into retirement you’re very clearly running from me the only thing that is new in this fight to your other fights is me and I would just push right back on it see what you could do with with that heat but to your point do we see this in 2024 not a chance you know I’m trying to find this text message I’m trying to find this text message from my boy Michael Chandler but I can’t find it chill I I I don’t know if we we spoke about this I talked to a lot of people so I tell stuff I’m not supposed to tell constantly so Michael Chandler messages me or a random number calls me Chandler’s assistant right it’s their it’s her phone number but when I answer the phone it’s Mike and Mike is talking to me about how everyone is going to have this celebration drink after he knocks out mcgreger so this gal is going to be sending me a box with this all the ingredients for this specialty drink for when he knocks out Connor I was going to be next to the actor I calling the fight but I love that he thought about me to put me in to the group with all the people that matter the most to him today CH I’ve got all these boxes by my front door and I open the box I go well what is this I look in the box it’s all the stuff for Michael Chandler celebration drink and I think to myself immediately what now like what now like do I drink this do I hold on to this like I don’t know what to do man I don’t know what to do with the drink and I’m not even in the fight so could you imagine what Michael Chandler sitting at because I have to ask you this right now sure Mike has sent out the money he has spent on these this alcohol that he has sent to all these people because I imagine this is a big group of people that Mike wants to tip a toast when he has the biggest point of his career the money that Mike has put in the multiple training camps to get ready for Conor McGregor the money Michael Chandler spent to go to Las Vegas to coach against Conor McGregor the sitting on the sideline not paid Michael Chandler makes a large sum of money chill does if he waits I got to tell you right now to this point he’s already lost money he has already lost cost money CH because I don’t care that he believes he will have be on part of the biggest pay-per-view of his life against McGregor I don’t know that it matches what he would have made if would fought if he would have fought the amount of times that Michael Chandler generally fights in the time that he has spent waiting for Conor McGregor I say move on but I don’t know that he does I really I think he is going to do what you said I think he’s going to wait I I I hate it for him he would have made millions of dollars at this point if he had fought as many times as he could have waiting for Connor I think it’s time to move on because do you know who else loses in this Conor because I don’t know if there’s a better matchup for him out there better than Michael Chandler because Mike will make that gentleman’s agreement with him chill I won’t wrestle you I’m gonna stand with you and that would give him a chance he’s gonna lose out on his two because Chandler if he moves on he loses probably the most ideal matchup that he could have in the UFC hey there ain’t no cowboy Cerrone hanging around anymore for him to come back and win and beat in 45 seconds like he did in his last return fight yeah and Daniel you know what I’m glad that we’re actually done talking about this but I want to mention something else to you on a completely separate topic what incredible irony that both sides have these massive interests in alcohol and one side is in the middle of rehab for substance abuse including alcohol not that that has anything to do with this what were you saying Daniel CH did you get the drink did you get a package of the Michael here oh it just got hot in here uhoh oh the big guy came out and said it he wasn’t supposed to talk about that well that’s why people tune in we’re over here on a subscription service I didn’t hear you they were talking to me in the air chill they were talking it was unrelated two guys are pushing alcohol totally unrelated story and another guy is in rehab for alcohol and other substance I’m just saying that’s a tough story to tell not for nothing that gets to be a little bit tough right have this ER drink I’ll see in a proper while cuz I’m in a proper facility right now watching me not have drinks I’m just I’m bringing up the irony of the point that’s all Daniel yes yeah my goodness chill you’re out of your mind dude okay okay Conor McGregor’s out and that wasn’t the only withdrawal from fightings guess what chill guess what last week you went to Brazil you flew a long way and you got a big check I am going to fly to Saudi Arabia and I’m going to get a pretty good check but chill that check was much easier to look forward to when Hamza Chaya was fighting now I’ve got to go to Saudi Arabia and Hamza jaya’s out chill he’s hurt injury what do you make of that like what happened to Hamza do you know why he’s out of this fight and we also almost had bo nickel and how interesting CU I got to give Robert Whitaker credit here Robert Whitaker has not always been the easiest guy to get to agree to a fight however once Robert does say yes Robert Whitaker goes through with it and the fact that he was willing to take on chamay who is still the boogeyman of the division that is who everybody is scared of but right next in line is Bo nickel and not necessarily because of his fighting style but because he’s so young and he’s so inexperienced in conjunction with his potential fighting style I mean I’m just sharing with you Robert Whitaker was willing to do them both and the same evening I think that that’s really awesome if I can move on though on Chaya Daniel we talked about guys pulling out of fights and you got two reasons you can pull out where you’re going to receive Grace you have illness and you have injury chamay has been tested hosmat chab has been tested on the injury he has had a broken hand and guess what he fought anyway he accepted fights anyway while injured and the UFC has to find out and get x-rays from a different party known as his manager where he’s lying and trying to get out there but hos Chay have got food poisoning so this is not an injury this is the illness part you might recall during the uh covid-19 pandemic but chamaya was on a ventilator and was not sure he was going to live it cost him a fight a very big fight at that time with number three ranked Leon Edwards who is now the champion of the world I mean imagine that chamaya would have got that fight and won Leon’s story would be different chamaya story would be different it would have been jamayah uh versus Kamar Usman which is the match that we just saw I mean you go back down memory lane but I’m just sharing for you the these have very big consequences and now here we are with chamay again the toughest guy and the scariest guy that that signed up for fights with broken bones but he’s got food poisoning and I I have to think that somewhere we might be lost in uh transition food poison is one of the most uncomfortable situations a partner that’s a 24 to 48 hour situation you wouldn’t normally see somebody like chamaya that is agreeing to fights not to mention up aweight class just to remind you he’s now back at 85 which he doesn’t have as heart of a time making in the Middle East which he calls home and all of a sudden he’s pulling out because he had a little mayonnaise in his egg salad not for nothing I think we’re Lost in Translation I don’t want to come out and say he had food poisoning but I’m quoting right now oh by the way I’m quoting him CH when you look at him in that hospital bed is scary knowing his history because he looks in some serious pain but as you said food poisoning that that sucks but you know what that leads me to thinking chill when I think about that I always wonder if a guy can ride too hot when they first start can you fly too close to the sun because when hamat chamaya started right he was on fight Island he fought twice in one week looked amazing went to the Apex knocked out uh Gerald mirart he was so hot that everybody just thought he was going to be the greatest fighter he can finish anyone he was doing his thing at a level that I don’t know is even sustainable and then he goes in there with hamzat Jamaya and hamzat I’m sorry with Kamar Usman who is a former champion and for him to win at this stage of his career is a massive accomplishment even though Usman took the fight on short notice sure but it felt like because of the decision after what he did to Lee Jing leang how he picked him up and slammed him and was talking to Dana the whole time it’s seemed like in that Victory he lost a little bit of the lore that he had built around himself so then it leads me to this did he fly too hot chill was he too close to the Sun and now it’ll be very difficult for him to reach the level of super stardom that we all expected from Hamza jayah hell dude’s kind of talking chill like he’s ready to walk away from the sport that’s how much pain that he’s in right now yeah and that really does speak to us see you’re making my point we see this the same way which is you have illness and injury but it’s usually not in that order right injury is usually number one if you can go there and fight hurt with broken bones you can get over not feeling well I think there might be something more to it I I I point that out I want to make sure I’m crystal clear on this not to tease him in the least to tell you that it’s a surprise and that he’s got a real illness somewhere in there that’s bothering now Daniel I got to tell you on a personal note okay I let you get away with bananas a little too long and now it’s a vernacular just keeps coming out of your mouth let’s I don’t want to do that with getting too close to the Sun flying too close to the Sun might be what you said you dropped it three times I just I don’t want to do do to you what I could have done to you with the bananas thing which is stop you early on because you start doing that and the next thing you know right it’s one of those things they catch on we do the show out we start talking like each other I’m talking about it’s bananas we fly too close to the sun we don’t want to do that we don’t get a handle on this now that’s my advice yeah man this dude is it it’s very sad that he’s not fighting I really look forward to seeing him against Roba Whitaker because if you put Robert Whitaker behind kamaro Usman in terms of wins you are as valuable a challenger to any championship in any division that could be but it scares me CH because remember what happened to zabit zabit magad Sharp off was unbelievable was supposed to be the champion was gonna be the man and then he just went away and nobody heard from I saw a picture of him in Islam the other day in the airport and thought to myself imagine him still there at 145 pounds with ilot torei as the champ dude it’s crazy to think what he could have been I hope that we aren’t going down a path like that with hamach Chaya okay chill now let’s get to the meat and potatoes of the conversation my boy got skills hey you were in the you were in there the other day the old Philly shell I mean you got the Philly shell I got him again like this became the new move do you happen to remember there was a guy called The White Buffalo and he comes in and he’s fighting Roy Nelson and he’s got his hands up on his head this guy’s name is Josh and he’s so tired he’s got his hands up on his head and Roy would come stumbling and get close and then Joshua bring one of those hands down and crack him you’re like okay well we can tease that if we want but if a guy hasn’t seen it before it’s just one of those situations then I pushed Anderson into the ropes one time and so I stopped on his foot like the old Chris Le and to stop on the foot but I did it very softly This was meant to like mentally maybe even make Anderson laugh like we’re in there with the rops we’re breaking up on the way gave him a little tap on the foot the referee saw it I couldn’t believe that he saw it I did this so subtle and so gently he I couldn’t believe I I didn’t tell that referee you’re really good I said I did that on the down low that was to make him laugh you’re really good at your job sir he did not laugh I thought I could win him over right like the chale charm does not wash off so easily well it did in Brazil or it never landed one uppercut that might sound simple but I used to be a little boy like everybody else and I had my Big Dreams and it involved putting on a robe and going to the body and throwing that uppercut like I see Mike Tyson do I got to do some of it I was very very proud of that moment and very uh very honored in many ways to share that with Anderson because he could have chosen his opponent you know you talked about the great big check but he could have chosen his opponent and he chose to do it with me and it felt pretty good T you know it was awesome to see you guys in there and it was good to see you guys compete and you compete well I will admit I was a bit worried that it might not go great for you but you did pretty good out there but when you watch that fight right and I watch you and Anderson come together it felt like prior to the fight getting announced you guys put everything behind you water under the bridge as some of the old guys say is that the case today do you feel like the Rivalry with Anderson Silva is now a thing of the past remember you said I can’t live because of the way things ended between Anderson and I do you feel like now CH sun and you can live knowing that you went in and fought him on his grounds his rule set where he’s the best and you fought him to a draw it was a daily Pain by the way I I mean it’s a daily pain there sport Psych olist and people and some of that stuff is private but you got to go back and you got to relive some of that stuff you know I was haunted from 1999 Zack Thompson I was haunted by that all the way up to 2010 when I lost to Anderson it finally took that pain away yeah there was something about it where it could be behind us I could live with the draw and I think that’s really important that I that that I I convince myself of that because I thought I won I thought I won the first three rounds he beat me up way worse in rounds four and five than I did collectively in the first three but on the 109 must system I I won that’s just the math yes I think that I could be at peace with this and it is one of those things I would not make believe that one replaces the other or just cuz Chael got to go out there one time and get a draw that that somehow wipes the Slate clean of the victories that he had we had our rivalry he won the Rivalry but can I be at peace with that which is your question to me I really believe I can’t you have to check in on me in about a month or so but I really believe so I believe I will not have any more sleepless nights over that loss to Anderson how did H how did the people treat you jail they’re nice man they were nice to me but I never was mean to one of their National Treasures they treated you good out there chill yeah no it really it it was incredible this is a soccer game right here Daniel this is palis and that’s a smaller team like these aren’t the guys that you might see where they elevate to the World Cup that you really see like on worldwide TV this is a small Regional team is what I’m told there must have been 70,000 people Daniel that’s a Thursday night that’s a Thursday night at 1100 p.m. they had people in the streets that couldn’t even get tickets in and they didn’t care man they had radios and TVs they were partying in the streets I have never seen an energy like that soccer in Brazil oh my God and I wanted to take my son so bad I wanted to take my son and my daughter because they’re ever going to be inspired to Hey Dad I want to try that mean soccer that that was the one but it even had an age limit with an age limit at 11:00 p.m. on a Thursday they brought in 60,000 people come on man that’s a special day right there CH so you just went there without like by yourself like get security and everything or like what did you do yeah we did we we had a six-man team I mean it it was some pretty serious uh security details but you know I brought the whole family this time I had both kids and my wife uh my father-in-law was supposed to come he was going to be my corner man he actually got turned away at the airport uh and didn’t make it in Clayton couldn’t get out on this trip Fabiano is with Rick story I apologize with Ricky Simone uh going out to a UFC and Brit Prima so yeah man I was on my own out there but they they took very good care of us and and we did feel very welcome they do that chant which is either we’re going to kill you or you’re GNA die it’s something like that like it’s really tough but Daniel they do that while smiling to you like that’s just the chant they they don’t mean those words which I didn’t know 10 years ago I thought I was being threatened 10 years ago now I really no man that’s just the way the song goes like it’s just it’s just the lyrics of the song you sound like a guy that likes Brazil now chill speaking of your family last week the man with the golden voice had some help cutting promos take a listen I’m gonna fight Anderson here and then I’m GNA go beat up George mol you that’s not much of a fight right I can’t say I’m gonna fight George Mo fight involves resistance there will be no resistance with George mosell because he’s terrible he had asked a question but just to answer it does George mozal suck I could beat him with a flip F I believe it phoh sunon ladies and gentlemen he’ll be here all day all right well first off George M and you know I really don’t want to pick on George George bullied me George gave me a hard time like I got Cyber Bullied so I’m pushing back but I have noticed Mr mwell has all of a sudden been Mr quiet ever since I accepted the challenge and I don’t say that’d be just high-handed there is some condescending this when I say I’m also saying that that if he has chosen to drop this Grudge I’ll move on with my life he can go he move one time had to do a mat check and he now tells people I’m coached by Daniel Cormier by the way are we ever going to take about talk about your boy versus rater are we just are you and I acting like that match did it happen at the u20 trials yeah I’m acting like it didn’t happen I’m acting like it didn’t happen you will never you’re not gonna let you’re not gonna give me to speak of it hey hey chill that was awesome to see listen sometimes kids say things they don’t make sense but in their mind it makes the most sense so then to you it’s endearing and it’s cute like one time little Daniel announced me before my my open workout my dad the heavyweight champion of the world and it was the most heartwarming thing that I’ve ever experienced in my entire life but look at my boy hey CH
